Looking for a fresh start after being released from prison, Tommy secures a job at the Second Chance Ranch. Hoping only to keep his head down and lead a quiet life, he tries to resist his attraction to Cash and Red; two ranch hands who have obvious feelings for one another as well as Tommy. As the three of them grow closer, a much darker threat emerges as a dead body is found at the ranch.

This story was ok. Our three main leads have distinct and well written personalities but given the short length, nothing feels tight and contained; just underdeveloped. Everyone is just all in love right away and the mystery is very basic, more of a frame to hang the three way relationship on to. One good point I feel the need to mention is how the cops don't immediately demonize Tommy because he's an ex-con. It would have been so easy to use that trope and thankfully it wasn't. A bit of a hollow experience overall. 3 out of 5.

Synopsis:

Tommy has recently been released from prison, and completed his post-incarceration requirements. He is hired to work at a ranch, and ends up cooking there when the regular cook leaves. He meets Cash and Red, two other hands who work there, and goes with them to an event for closeted men. When Tommy is thrown by something that happens at the event, Cash and Red give up their plans to stay with Tommy and calm him down.
Then a body turns up on the ranch, and the police are looking closely at Tommy, since he has a record. Through it all, Cash and Red remain by his side, supporting him. Tommy can see that Cash and Red are interested in each other, and doesn't want to get in their way, but they insist that they wouldn't be complete without him.

What I liked: that even though the police looked hard at Tommy, they weren't obnoxious or solely focused on him as a suspect. I liked that the three men communicated with each other once they decided what they wanted, and were there for each other. The idea of a place of work that gives people second chances at a life was intriguing, and I wish that we could have seen more of that aspect of things.

What I didn't like: there wasn't much character development, as the story was fairly short. Basically the guys were attracted to each other, and then pretty much in love, with no real time in between. The mystery was kind of weak, more like a plot device to bring everyone together, rather than a viable aspect of the story.

Overall impression: told from all three MCs POV. I wish that we could have seen more of everyone together, and actually working the ranch.

The story was good enough but the writing tense didn't work for me.

On the plus side it's three hot cowboys...

This had so much potential.Personally, there definitely aren't enough Cowboy MM/MMM romance stories out there.

Cash and Red have been friends for years.....but it's just friends, right? Why complicate things? They've been lusting after each other for ages but it takes a new man for them to open up to their feelings...

Positives,

- I absolutely loved the three men.Their back stories were well explained and their connection really felt believable,

- the setting was perfect,

But,the writing tense just completely spoilt my enjoyment here.
