This book felt like a very original spin on a classic story. Kora's perspective on Midas's tale was interesting and had adventurous moments that I quite enjoyed. However, I wasn't as drawn into the story or connected to Kora as I would have liked. The book is entertaining and will appeal to a wide variety of readers however it didn't quite make me love it.

Annie's telling of King Midas daughter will suck you in and pull you into a world of curses and adventure. Discovering who you are and that sometimes you have to leave your box to find out who you are. Inner strength is a great undertone to this story.

The twists and turns of the tail were great too. Every time I thought I had it figured out another twist came another turn came. It was great until the end!

We start the story with King Midas and his curse and what it has cost him, his struggle to undo and how it affects his daughter. We also meet others along the way affected by there own father's curse as well.

I really enjoyed A Touch of Gold. This book is the story of King Midas' daughter who suffers her own side effects of the "gift" her father had. It is full of action, adventure, romance and all the things I love to read. It was very fast paced and a joy to read. I can understand this book may not be for everyone but it just worked for me and hit on all the things that I personally enjoy in a story. There were pirates and sirens and betrayal and love, it was just wonderful. I admit that I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this book, I went into it without any real expectations so that may have helped as well in my overall enjoyment. I don't think I've read retellings surrounding the myth of King Midas before so I am happy to have this story and I think a lot of readers will enjoy it because it moves quickly and is jam-packed with action.

A classic story re-imagined through the viewpoint of King Midas' daughter. While that viewpoint is unique, I wasn't impressed by the predictable cast and story line. The ending "plot twist" wasn't so surprising, but was very well written. Recommend for YA and fans of the original myth.

What happened after King Midas lost his golden touch? Even though Midas was given the opportunity to remove his magic touch and turn his daughter back from gold, he doesn’t follow the directions fully and his daughter Kora is left cursed. While she is a living human, she remains colored gold. Her father has an unusual dependence on his cursed gold. When it is stolen, Kora decides to use her curse to find the gold and save her father. She has never left her father’s house, so she has trouble knowing who to trust and how to navigate the large world. Kora joins with a band of pirates who sail across the sea in hopes of helping her save her father.

The author of this book is super nice and awesome, so I wanted to shine the light on her book. This book read like a Greek mythology version of Frozen and will be perfect for young tweens.

I waffled between giving this 3 or 4 stars. The viewpoint of King Midas' daughter is unique, and yet I found the story itself predictable. Even the unexpected plot twist at the end didn't surprise me. But it is well-written and moved quickly so I wasn't bored. A good summer beach read, suitable even for young teens. When King Midas turned his daughter Kora into gold and the god told them how to reverse it, everyone thought the gold curse was over. They were wrong - Midas messed up one of the rules. Now Kora has permanently golden skin, although she can still move, and she has other abilities. Unfortunately, her appearance makes people flee in terror and her abilities make her a target for fortune hunters...

A Touch of Gold by Annie Sullivan was a pretty interesting book. I would have never thought of having a story about King Midas' daughter, and it was cleverly done. It is also important to mention that this book takes a turn of being a seafaring adventure, full of pirates, sword fights, treasure hunts, and the rest. I really enjoyed the story!

There were a couple of major plot twists in this book. I guessed the truth from some of the foreshadowing, but didn't quite get my predictions right. So bravo Annie Sullivan!

Another thing I liked was the twist on the typical "magical kiss." It was reversed from the usual fairytale kiss, and I loved it. Hilarious!

Overall, though, I feel like this book was missing something. It was cleverly written with a lot of cool ideas. But despite everything, it was a little predictable. Or was it that it wasn't as can't-put-it-down-compelling as I had hoped? I can't put my finger on it, but it is definitely missing something.

This book is truly unique, and I loved everything about it. Now you might be wondering why I didn't give it four stars??

The characters were well fleshed out, but they throw some massive curveballs at you that caught me by surprise. It also seemed out of character in the moment but once I looked back the author offers up alot of foreshadowing that I didn't catch at first so PAY ATTENTION lol ... I can't say more without revealing spoilers so I won't do that to you.

I loved the main character, Kora she really struggles with things she's done in the past but watching her learn and grow from those mistakes was lovely. Her best friend, Hettie, is tenacious and cute and I really loved her romance with a pirate that shall not be named ;) and then the pirates were pirates and do things pirates tend to do. (how vague of me, but I really don't want to spoil anything!).

The world building is good! They do spend most of the time out at sea but they do visit a few islands that I really would have liked to see more of, some scenes seemed a smidge rushed to me. I could have easily enjoyed more dialogue and world building.

So all in all, I enjoyed the story and I would recommend it!

I couldn't finish this book. It was extremely difficult to get through the 30% that I managed to finish, but the main character was so unappealing to me that I couldn't continue.

I had high hopes for this book but unfortunately it fell short for me. The writing style was difficult for me to follow and it made the story hard to keep my interest. I DNF because I lost interest in this book.

One of the best retold and retooled fairy tales I've had the pleasure of reading. You may think you’re familiar with the legend of King Midas, but Sullivan’s retelling will take what little you know and flip it upside down. Told from the perspective of Midas’ daughter, A Touch of Gold” is one of today’s best in fairytale fiction.

I guess I should be more understanding. I must be in the wrong that I expect more in terms of character development. I like them, I truly do. I just want to love them and there was not much there to love.
