Title was provided via netgalley for an honest review.

BDSM titles always are a win or lose for me. It has to be done correctly in order for the rest of it to come together. Avery and Colt's back and forth between attraction and not is really annoying. I'm not sure if they were introduced in book 1 (I didn't know this was a series), but not having that founding relationship dynamic makes this probably more sour of a story. I'm not a fan of third person submission. It makes me cringe. There are just certain BDSM dynamics I can't swallow this is borderline one of them.

Additionally if the Dom of the story is going to be a Dom, he needs to really BE the DOM. I tend to see these roles as a source of guidance and strength. That's not to say a sub is weak or helpless, but there's a type of reassurance that Doms tend to provide that I didn't see. I guess it's a bit of a relationship and dynamic stereotype, but I think the fact that this starts with a pre-established relationship that is BDSM just URHG.

The rest of the story was ok, but it's hard to disassociate the characters from the story when BDSM is a crucial part of the character dynamic. 3 stars.

I read Wild Trail through NetGalley previously and was very excited to see the sequel so soon. Finally getting to read Colt's story was wonderful! I thought the relationship between Colt and Avery was sweet and everything a rebuilding of a relationship should be: a lot of communication. Personally, I wasn't all that into the bdsm side of the novel, but I didn't turn away or dislike Roped In because of it's presence.
I like that both Colt and Avery stepped out of their comfort zones when it comes to their other relationships, both parental and friendships. They had to grow, not only between the two of them, but with the other people in their lives.
I can't wait for the third one (I'm going to assume Reyes' book)!!

This is the best so far in the series. I absolutely love Avery and Colt story. Awesome writing and very good pace in the story. The flashbacks to tell their backgrounds, how they met, how their issues came about, were just great. I was not very keen on the D/s side of their relationship that I found at time overbearing, but all in all great book. Can't wait for Reyes story.
I received this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review that is all my own.

This one didn't really work for me, for a lot of the book Avery just annoyed me as I felt he was being incredibly self-centred and quite a lot of an arse.

The BDSM was fine, but the Sir/pet dynamic didn't work for me at all and for a lot of the time, when Colt referred to Avery as Sir in "third person past tense" it just made me cringe.

The last 20% made up for a lot of it though and I loved all the family stuff and Colt's reunion with his family back in Texas. Avery also got his head out of his backside and stopped being a jerk.

Not my cup of tea at all unfortunately. I didn't like the dynamic between the two characters at all and there was this huge power imbalance, in and out of the bedroom. I especially didn't like Avery's stance. It felt like it always had to go according to his terms, his rules, the way he thought things should be. He always held Colt at arms length and in the end I really didn't like him all that much.

The BDSM aspects of the book felt a little forced and dry and I can't say I'm a big fan of D/s dynamics bleeding into real life - especially since Avery never felt completely comfortable with it either.

All in all just not my kind of book

Roped In is the second installment in the Clean Slate Ranch series and I have to confess to not liking it as much as I liked Wild Trail, the previous book. The main reason for that is the BDSM theme. I'm just not into the whole Dom and Sub thing, or as it is here, the Sir and pet thing.

The other parts of the story I absolutely liked. How Colt had to deal with that big secret of him that's now out of the bag, and no, I'm not talking about him being gay. That we already knew. You know what secret I'm talking about, if you read book one. Which you absolutely don't need to have done, before reading Roped In, just saying. The whole dynamics between the different characters I also really liked.

This would have probably been a 4,5 star read, if not for the BDSM thing... which makes me sad, because I basically like everything A.M. Arthur writes.

If you like to read about BDSM and want to have a good angsty M/M read, this is probably a good book for you. Me not so much, but I'm definitely looking forward to Miles' and Reyes' story. These two appear broken and I'm really curious.

Poor Colt carrying that horrible secret for all those years and now we he has to not only try to mend his friendship with Mack but also work with his ex Avery. But Colt can't stay away from his "Sir" & Avery can't stay away from his "Pet". I loved that we got to see how they came together originally. We also get some back story on their families. I loved watching these two slowly work back towards each other. Even though they are afraid to open their hearts again to each other, they can't deny their feelings. I'm happy to see that Colt & Mack are working things out. I don't really believe Colt's father but maybe 16 or so years changes things. I can't wait for this to come out in audio. I also can't wait for the next book in the series.
