This book definitely feels like the start of a series, if only because of the amount of pages dedicated to explaining the TWA organization and its rules about time traveling. It was a little hard to get through all that but once I did I definitely enjoyed watching the romance between Diana and Torr MacPhearson grow. Diane's struggle between her time travel mission and her feelings for Torr was believable in that she didn't come to a conclusion quickly. Hopefully any further books in this series won't be quite so bogged down with world building explanations. |
When someone changes history, affecting the future, Diana Montgomery, the most experienced agent of Time Weavers, Inc., travels back to 1306 Scotland to change it back. Her mission, to find the culprit and ensure a minor clan chief dies in battle as he originally had. Diana is well-prepared to infiltrate the small MacPherson clan. What she’s not prepared for is Torr MacPherson, the ruggedly handsome warrior with a kind heart and a steadfast loyalty—the Laird she’s supposed to ensure dies. I was really looking forward to reading this book after reading the blurb but it didn’t live up to the synopsis. The explanation of Time Weavers and Disruptors was just too wordy & long for me but I could live with that. I liked Diana & Torr & their characters were well fleshed but did Torr’s muscles need to be continually mentioned? I got that he's a strapping Scotsman but I didn't need it repeated so often & I found myself skipping passages. Although I did have some issues with the book I did enjoy it & would certainly read more from the author My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read |
On Highland Time, by Lexi Post is an time-traveling futuristic romance that mixes historical Scotland with more contemporary times. Diana Montgomery is an experienced agent with Time Weavers, which is group that attempts to fix history by traveling back in time when Disruptors make changes in history that drastically affects the future. Diana's current mission is to travel back to 1306 Scotland in order to verify that the MacPherson clan chief dies in battle. However, Diana meets Torr MacPherson and falls in love, which drastically affects her future-altering mission. Even though Diana and Torr are from different time periods, they pursue their mutual attraction. On Highland Time is geared towards those who enjoy reading time travel novels with a mix of contemporary, dystopian, and highlander romances. Note: I received this book from NetGalley, which is a program designed for bloggers to write book reviews in exchange for books, yet the opinions expressed in this review are my own. |
On Highland Time was a quick, easy read that was enjoyable and filled with hot Scottish men. I admit I first thought the premise to be similar to Outlander but it was very different. While I found the concept of people employed to go back in time to prevent massive changes in history interesting, I thought that some of the execution of this fell a little short and could seem a bit unrealistic. There were many instances were I was confused or needed more background info (such as character history and Disruptor/TWI history), but I very much enjoyed the easy romance. Overall this was a nice read that was easy to finish. Thanks to Entangled Publishing LLC & NetGalley for this advanced readers copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own. |
Publisher's Description For fans of sexy Scottish Highlanders who know how to treat a woman like a lady. My Thoughts: This quirky Time Travel romance is the first in a new series. It was an OK read that started off good and progressively went down hill in this readers opinion. I couldn't keep reading and frequently put it aside to catch up on other books that I found more interesting. Although I liked the concept of this story and liked the main characters I found the secondary ones brought to mind more questions than answers. I wish there had been more back story to explain things. I gave this book 4.0 of 5.0 stars for storyline and character development. The story is frankly a bit of a convoluted mess at times. I usually love time travel books and love Highlanders but this one left something to be desired and confused me.. I received a complimentary digital ARC of this book from the publisher to read and review. This in no way affected my opinion of this title which I read and reviewed voluntarily. |

I have voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this title given to me via NetGalley. Wow what can I say about this title it was just an awesome read. This book was just something so wonderfully different I’ve never quite read anything like this. In this book we get to meet Time Weaver agent Diana Montgomery and Torr MacPherson. Diana is sent on a mission to ensure that Torr dies the only problem is she’s going to fall in love with him. I loved getting to see this take place is she going to follow her mission or follow her out. You should read to find out you won’t be disappointed. I’m definitely going to read more by this author. |

An entertaining time travel tale set in the Scottish Highlands in the year 1306. In this tale, Torr and Diana, our hero and heroine, have to make the tough decision between changing history and love. Can Diana find the culprit who changed history in order to save her home or will she sacrifice all for love? As the story evolved, I fell in love with and root for each of the characters. Action, intrigue, sizzle, and a HEA, make this story one worth reading. This is my first book by this author and I look forward to the next in this series. I received this book through NetGalley for my honest review. |
On Highland Time is a promising start to the Time Weavers Inc. series. Although time travel is not one of the genres I read being that it was Lexi Post I requested it from Netgalley and I am glad I did. Great characters and a well developed plot made for a great read and makes me want to read more of this series as it is released. |

I received a copy of this e-book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review. Diana is a time traveler, working with a small team for TWI, Time Weavers Inc. Their job is to go back in time after a Disturber has altered what happened in history and make it as it should have been. When a Disturber alters events, history of the world changes. Diana's latest job is to go back to 1306 Scotland. A Disturber has saved the life of a man who was to die in battle against Comyn, and this changed the whole future. Diana is to make sure he dies in battle and to hopefully identify the Disturber and bring them back to be interrogated. Torr is the man who is to die. He is a Laird of a small clan, loyal to Robert the Bruce. He has lost most of his family in battle, only having one younger brother left. He is unmarried and doesn't develop any relationships because he doesn't feel he can lose another loved one. He does engage in sex but all the women know it will not go further, and rarely does he engage with the same woman more than once. Diana arrived a few weeks before the battle and events started off all wrong. She usually keeps a low profile, making no friends or bringing attention to herself. Right away she is befriended and the Laird notices her. Torr is looking for a possible spy so he notices all new faces, of which their are several. He and Diana are very attracted to one another which is not usual for either of them. He has invited Diana to his bed but she has refused as she has a job to do. Diana is having a hard time, she finds Torr to be a good man with a big heart who is good to his clan and truly cares about them. He is a fair Laird. Can Diana complete her task successfully? I really enjoyed this story and thought the twist at the end was well done. It really completed the story. I did have some questions in my mind about the Disturbers but that is just being me overly analytical I think. The story does come full circle. I think any Highland fan would like the book. |
I really loved this story. It's start in a very intriguing way, makes readers want to read on. The rest of the book is just as good and doesn't disappoint at all. I loved all the characters. Story was great and little twists and turns kept it all the more interesting. It's a very hot historical time travel novel, which I enjoyed reading a lot. |
What a twist of fate to find herself in the past having to ensure history happens the way it's supposed to but falling in love along the way and feeling conflicted to make sure he dies. Tough decision. |
Diana Montgomery has been sent back in time to undo what the Disruptor has done in changing time and thereby altering the future. Sent back to Scotland in the 1300s her mission as an Agent of Time Weavers, Inc. is to find the Disruptor and undo what's been done. In order to do this she needs to ensure that a Scottish Laird dies. But she has a problem... Torr MacPherson, the Lord she needs to ensure is killed. How can she possibly assist the demise of a man that makes her feel so alive? Can Diana complete her mission? Sensual and deliciously sexy, this novel was a pleasure to read. Very well written and the characters were very well developed. This novel took my breath away at times. The authors descriptive powers seem nearly overwhelming as her characters and scenes jump right out of the page. I definitely recommend this book to all who need a little Highland romance in their lives 😉 |
I couldn't put it down!!! This was one of those books I became obsessed with...I'm talking "almost falling up the stairs because I'm so focused on reading the book instead of looking where I'm walking." :) I was pulled in by the seemingly impossible synopsis; how could she make sure he died if she was no doubt going to fall in love with him?! I was kept in suspense right up until the end...which was left wiiiiiiide open for more books in this series! (Don't worry, Torr and Diana get a Happily Ever After!) I thought Torr and Diana were written beautifully, but Torr is one of my favorite heroes. The synopsis mentions that he knows how to treat a lady, and WOW does he! While this is the first Lexi book I have read, it definitely won't be my last. The story didn't go in the direction I thought it would, and I can't tell you how much I enjoyed the unpredictability. I was also in tears towards the end at a part I won't spoil for you. I can't wait for more books in this series!!!! (I was given this book in consideration of my honest thoughts) |
While the time travel genre is not my usual go to, I enjoyed this first book in Lexi Post’s new Time Weavers Inc. series - On Highland Time. The story had a good plot, likeable and interesting characters, and kept my interest till the very end. Torr and Diana and an undeniable chemistry from the beginning, and the support cast made for some fun moments, away from all the serious stuff. I look forward to reading the next instalment and meeting more of these unique individuals. Thank you to NetGalley for this advanced copy. |
Diana is a member of a group called TWI, Timer Weavers Inc. When they are made aware of something that changed in the past, but wasn’t supposed to change, TWI steps in to put things back to normal. When Diana wakes up one day and her mansion is pretty much in the middle of a slum, the group knows that something in history changed. She gets instructions from the head of TWI to go back to medieval Scotland. Apparently a Scottish Laird, Torr MacPherson, was supposed to die, but didn’t, and this changed everything. There is another group that TWI calls Disruptors and they go around changing history. I had no clue by the end of the book why they disrupt anything, but I guess it’s job security for TWI. Diana is sent back to 1306 Scotland where she is to ensure that the Laird does indeed die when he’s supposed to and to try to find out who the Disruptor is. She sets herself up as a relative of someone in the clan that had passed and tries to stay inconspicuous. Unfortunately, she catches the eye of the Laird and starts to have feelings for him and he for her. How can she ensure that he dies when she wants to spend the rest of her life with him? She can’t stay in 1306 Scotland as it will change the course of history forever. This was a cute story that I enjoyed reading, to a point. When I first began reading I kept thinking that I was missing something because the way it was written made it seem like there was maybe a previous book in the series, but that’s not the case. Because I was a little lost the story didn’t flow well for me at first. I don’t think it was ever explained how exactly Diana’s boss, the elusive Jules who only speaks to Diana telepathically and who Diana has never met, knows exactly when in history the changes are made by the Disruptors. Diana woke up and saw her neighborhood was a slum. Ok, but how does Jules know exactly which point in history caused this to happen? I have no idea. There are also a couple of other characters in TWI that were unexplained. There was one guy, Arthur, who “downloaded” stuff into people’s brains. What? It was nuts, and frustrating to not know what was going on. Why were these people blindly following this person they’ve never met? The romance between Diana and Torr was kind of sweet but Diana was worrying so much the entire time it was hard for me to enjoy it fully. Torr didn’t want to fall in love so that was a big obstacle. Then something happens near the end of the book (that I can’t tell you about) and Torr gets so incredibly pissed at Diana I thought it was over. Of course I would have been pissed at her too, so I felt his pain. Unfortunately he got over being pissed way too quickly for me – I would have liked to have seen him take more time to think things over. IDK, maybe it was just me. Overall not a bad book but there was too much of the unknown for my liking. I needed answers to a lot of questions by the time I ended this book. I am voluntarily submitting my honest review after receiving an ARC of this ebook via NetGalley. On Highland Time features a modern woman employed by an organization seeking to stop "Disruptors" from travelling back in time and adversely impacting history as we know it. In this opening book in the series, our heroine, Diana, is sent back to the Scottish Highlands to ensure that laird Torr MacPherson dies in battle, inspiring Robert the Bruce to continue his fight for Scottish independence. But Diana does not realize how difficult this assignment will become as she comes to know the clan and its people, particularly Torr himself. I really, really wanted to like this book. The characters are well-drawn and likable, and the descriptions of the stronghold and its idyllic setting are vivid and stunning. Unfortunately, many aspects of the time travel element of the story and the travelers' abilities are awkward and not well=planned. The relationship between Diana and Jules is never fully addressed--Diana seems compelled to obey Jules' directives, yet the entire organization operates from Diana's home so why is there such an imbalance of power? What is the Disruptors' ultimate motivation? It is clear that this is not Diana's first assignment and that others in the organization have been operating for some time as well--have they learned nothing from those missions? In addition, without giving away any spoilers, the ending pertaining to the MacPherson clan seemed implausible in the extreme. While there is much to like in this novel with its strong characters and lively plot, the execution just falls flat. |
I really wanted to enjoy Diana and Torr's story, but the writing just wasn't up to par with the books I normally read. I love a good time travel and the premise of the story reminded me of Timeless, one of my favorite shows. Unfortunately, there were several times when I wanted to put the book down because it just wasn't holding my attention. I'm iffy on whether I would read another by this author, so I guess I'll see what she comes up with next and make a decision then. |
I always hate leaving a bad review, but this book just didn't impress me. There were parts so did enjoy and parts of the story that really kept me eager to read the next page. However, there were numerous editorial errors that eventually were hard to overlook. The main character was almost child like and redundant, yet tried to come off as a strong, independent woman. It just didn't work. The thoughts were often scattered and either jumped from one idea to the next or just dragged on entirely. I see potential here, just not as it's currently written. |

I loved the connection between Diana and Torr! The pacing of this book is spot on, and makes for a truly delightful read. |
I enjoy time travel books into the past but this one was just okay. It didn't do very well as a stand alone. I feel I need to go back to the beginning to have answers to a lot of an answered things, such as how and why people could travel through time, and an explanation of people's special gifts. The book seemed rushed and full of holes. I did like the time frame and the premise of the story. Series has promise. |
