Remmi Storm has been searching for twenty years for her mother. When a woman who appears to be Didi Storm jumps from the ledge of a hotel room to her death, Remmi thinks the mystery is over-but its only just begun. When Remmi was fifteen she witnessed her mother exchanging a briefcase full of money for one of her twin infants in the dessert. Soon after, her mother disappeared into the night with a promise that she would be back soon. What happened to Didi Storm, the famous Las Vegas impersonator? Who is this "marksman" targeting those close to Didi Storm? Is Remmi safe?
Lisa Jackson's latest novel is like a box of tangled jewlery-its impossible to discern which end is what. The novel is fast-paced, the characters authentic, and the ending comes together in a neat package. I love Lisa Jackson's novels. Pure enjoyment!

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.... or does it?

OK my friends that have trouble suspending belief.... warning this probably is not the book for you! It was fast paced and compelling, however there are a lot... and I mean a lot of coincidences... you just kind of have to go with it and not question anything 😝 for example in the very beginning Remmie is heading to an appointment in San Francisco when she just so happens to be at the exact spot where her mother (maybe?) Plunges to her death.... it could happen, but what are the odds? And this is only one of many unlikely coincidences throughout this book, so as I said if you are somebody who likes to look for those plot holes, this book not for you...

I found this book to be an entertaining read inspite of some of the unlikely coincidences... I really liked Remmie and really wanted to find out what had happened to her mom and siblings??? I also wanted to find out who had died falling from that bridge? So many questions and it was a fun journey learning the answers... so many twists and turns that kept me engrossed throughout and I did not see the ending at all! For me the character development outweighed the fact that there were quite a few things that were hard to believe...

This was my very first book from Lisa Jackson, but it will definitely not be my last!

*** many thanks to Kensington for my copy of this book ***

Liar liar is another great one from Lisa. This is about a 15 year old “Remmi” that is being raised by her single mother that is looking for her “in” into the famous world. She, Didi Storm, works in Vegas dressing as Marilyn...she Didi Storm goes out one day after using her baby as blackmail and never returns to Remmi. Now we fast forward to 20 years later.....and no one had seen or heard from Didi Storm in all of those 20 years until now....when she’s attempting to jump off of a building. Is it her on that building? Hmmm you’ll have to read it to find out. I will tell you that there are many twists and turns and wow is the end super good. I gave it 4 stars only because I felt it was a little slow in the beginning, but, in the end...a GREAT story. :)

I have read other Lisa Jackson books and this one just doesn't stack up to them. There is too much 'fluff' that doesn't do the story any good. The story itself is good, if you don't mind skipping over pages to find out the next thing without reading a bunch of redundant things. Doesn't live up to the hipe.

I'm a huge fan of Lisa Jackson and this book held up to my high expectations of her novels. Fast paced. Suspenseful. Hard to put down.

The scene seemed a little surreal, just it always did when a person died. Reality shifted. What was important and what was trivial were almost indefinable. She gave a slight shake of her head, and the world righted itself, as it always did. It was up to her to make certain that the killer came to justice.

Remmi Storm has not seen her mother for over twenty years. The last time she saw her mother Didi Storm impersonator for the Las Vegas strip, her mother was setting up a sting with her baby twin brother and sister that ended badly. With her mother's disappearance, Remmi ended up living with her mother's sister, a holy roller and her family. At 18 she left for California and 20 years later she witnesses a suicide jump that points to her long lost mother. Remmi crosses path with the investigator of the jumper Detective Dani Settler. Together, they fit the pieces of what really happened to her mother and a killer that is willing to kill again to keep it in the past

With many layers to this thriller and uncovering each layer, it was difficult for me to connect with the plot. Remmi the main character was the driving force of this thriller. Determined and hurt by her mother's disappearance and never giving up, she is a strong character in spite of the plate that was handed to her. The "Killer" identity is revealed in the end with surprising twists that will keep any reader at the edge of their seat.

A Special Thank You to Kensington Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.

I am a big Lisa Jackson fan, and I read all her books, but I sadly I couldn't get into the characters in this book. I was kind of bummed out that I didn't enjoy the storyline because I always look forward to new books coming out, Didi just wasn't for me. But, keep the books coming, I am sure I will love the next one.

This was the third Lisa Jackson book that I have read, but the others were read years ago, so I wasn't sure what to expect. However, this book was just as mediocre as the other two books that I read.
Part 1 of the book was to set up the story line that Didi Scott, presumably committed suicide. After witnessing what seemed to be her mother's suicide, Remmi Scott was transported back to 20 years earlier, when she was 15 years old, and witnessed her mother selling, Ariel, one of the twin babies her mother had. During that sale, a car blows up, someone is shot, and Didi Scott is terrified. Remmi tries to get her mother to admit to the baby selling scam, but Didi won't, claiming she will take care of everything. Didi's friend and midwife, Seneca, disappears with the other twin, Adam.
Fast forward 20 years, and Remmi needs to find out if that was really her mother who committed suicide. She meets with the cops, and it all seems to revolve around a book that was recently published about Didi Scott and her career as a Marilyn Monroe impersonator.
The novel is rambling at times, and the story is too neatly wrapped up. There are way too many coincidences, too many close calls, and too many unbelievable situations. The story was quite predictable. Quite a disappointment.
The only saving grace of the book in my opinion was that I liked Remmi and her friend, Noah Scott.

The heart-stopping suspense of this book had me extremely upset when my kindle's battery decided to be low but thank goodness for back up kindles. The complex relationships between some of the characters really had me guessing on who committed the crimes and what was their motive. I liked how the background of the characters tied into what was happening in the present day in the plot.. I received a copy of this book from NetGalley.

Liar, Liar by Lisa Jackson published by Kensington Books is a great summer read for anyone who likes thrillers. Over the years I have been sadden by some of my go to authors. Their stories and characters having turned stale and leaving me yearning for the days of yore. Lisa Jackson is definitely not one of those authors. I have been reading Lisa Jackson books since I was about 15 my mom use to pick up 4-5 books for me and I would be done in less than a month. Over the years I have been sadden by some of my go to authors. Their stories and characters having turned stale and leaving me yearning for the days of yore. Lisa Jackson is definitely not one of those authors. This is an excellent crime thriller with an intriguing and unique premise. Didi Storm is a washed-up beauty queen and Marilyn Monroe impersonator. Remmi, Didi's daughter, witnesses a woman jumping to her death from a building in San Francisco. She had been dressed as Marilyn Monroe. Remmi is adamant that it was not her mother. To solve this mystery of who it was that jumped and why, cop Dani Settler and Remmi Storm must go back over two decades and discover the deal made in the Nevada desert. This is a fast-paced novel that reveals details like a great meal course by course. There are lots of details that are well placed and this will keep you up past your bedtime.

Over the years I have been sadden by some of my go to authors. Their stories and characters having turned stale and leaving me yearning for the days of yore. Lisa Jackson is definitely not one of those authors. Her stories are as engaging as ever and have even more twists and turns than her earlier work. Definitely an author that I continue to fall back on when I need a good book to read.

Remmi has been searching for her mother since the night she disappeared. Never losing hope that somehow the infamous Didi Storm has prevailed over all the secrets that took place 20 years ago.

Now Remmi is in the midst of trying to figure out who penned the book about her mother. En route to the publishing house she witnesses what could be Didi's final act. Did her mother resurface after all this time just to
take her final bow?

Racing against those who are watching, Remmi tries to piece together the events of the past and the happenings of today. Lucky for her Noah shows back up, adding his owns skills into the mix.

What follows is an engaging and twisting story that will have you on the edge of your seat.

Well written thriller with interesting characters and a story full of red herrings.A few surprises right to the end.

Probably my least favorite Lisa Jackson book :( It was convoluted and slowly paced. Very difficult to connect to the characters and with a rather twisted plot, it was hard to follow.

Remmi Storm was 15 when she last saw her mother DIdi Storm giving one of her twin babies to a man that Remmi did not recognize. After that exchange Didi disappeared as well as the other twin baby. Twenty years later someone commits suicide dressed as Didi. Remmi sees the remains and discovers that this was someone only dressed to look like her mother. Things really take a turn when Remmi begins to feel like she is being watched and followed. It turns out that Noah Scott (her teenage crush) has resurfaced and is looking for Remmi. Both Noah and Remmi were witness to that exchange in the desert 20 years ago. Noah was almost killed and Remmi was left with so many unanswered questions. Noah is now a Private Investigator and all those unanswered questions from 20 years ago resurface with some unbelievable discoveries.

This book opens in the 'now' but soon flicks back two decades where we meet a teenage Remmi and her mother Didi and it's the actions of the latter that causes reverberations all of these years later.

Unlike a lot of novels this doesn't really continue to go back and forth in time. It's really just the events leading up to her Didi's disappearance and the fallout that accompanied it. We get a bit of history via other characters now and then but the majority of the book unfolds in the present as our two leads (Remmi and police officer Dani Settler - who I'm assuming has featured in a previous book as there's reference to teenage years held captive) try to piece together the events that took place twenty years earlier. Ones that have been resuscitated by the release of a book about Didi's life, ending with her disappearance; and now the death of the Didi-lookalike.

Remmi's remarkably well-adjusted given her childhood though she seems to have been loved by her mother - despite Didi's unorthodox style of parenting and hair-brained schemes - so she's a resilient soul and surprisingly upbeat.

I was a bit surprised at how much this book lured me in. Fairly early on we're put in the head of someone who's 'somehow' involved in what's happening... though there seem to be a few with a stake in the game: players playing the player, if that makes sense. So there are lots of twists and turns throughout this book. I certainly didn't guess whodunnit or the truth behind Didi's disappearance.

And, I liked that Jackson offered us a lot of grey characters. Easy to hate, but surprisingly sympathetic. Or likeable but untrustworthy. And those who had just been dealt a raw deal and we'd met them at a particularly bad time in their lives. Suffice to say, many of the characters here are not 'all good' or 'all bad'.

The end was a little surprising and perhaps a little unfulfilling given where I thought Jackson was taking us but then again I do like my threads firmly severed or tied neatly rather than hanging loosely.

Didi Storm is a celebrity impersonator in Vegas. She did an awesome Marilyn Monroe impression and was a notorious heart breaker. She was beautiful and her 15 year daughter Remmi was nothing like her mother. She was smart, beautiful without realizing it and didn't care much for boys. Remmi met Noah Scott at the beach and over a short period of time she had some deep feelings for him. On a night when her mother was suppose to be at one of her shows, Remmi was going to sneak out and meet Noah, but her mother returns early, so Remmi hid in her mother's prized Cadillac, in a secret compartment that her mother made for her shows and sees her mother put her new twin siblings inside and they drive off. From the hideaway space, she can see the outside and realizes they are in the Mojave desert and there is someone waiting. Didi takes out one of the twins and hands the baby over to this man that Remmi has never seen before and takes off.
Of course it isn't so simple as that, but I don't want to give away what happens in the desert. But when they return home Remmi confronts her mother and the next day she never sees her mother and her siblings again. Remmi tries to go to the police, but they don't believe her and Remmi is sent to relatives she has never met and they hate her Mother.
20 years later, someone writes a tell all book about Didi's life and a woman jumps off a building and she bares a striking resemblance to Didi Storm. Is it really her? Where has she been for the past 20 years and if it isn't her, who is this woman who jumped to her death?
Remmi makes it her mission to find out about her mother and a detective from a previous Lisa Jackson book is in this story, she believes Remmi and digs into her mother's disappearance.
I gave it 3 stars because I feel like lately Lisa Jackson's stories are being way too rushed towards the end to tell you the Whys of the story, but leaving out way too many details. I hope there is another book to explain.

I am a fan of the author's previous works so I was pleased to receive this book for review. Thank you to the publisher and to Net Galley for the opportunity to review. My opinions are my own.

What I enjoyed about this book is that it traversed easily between the past and present. It is a strong mystery with many clues throughout. I like the element of suspense in this book and the twists and turns of the story. The story focuses on a impersonator in Vegas who jumped to her death . She may have been impersonating a woman who disappeared decades before and may have died in the same way. The daughter Remmi is searching for the answers both from a traumatic childhood event caused by her Mother and her decades old death. . Questions remain and as she digs deeper into her Mother's past she may find the answers she never wanted to hear.

I like the writing of the author. Her books are fast paced and enjoyable to read. I look forward to reading more by this author. This is a enjoyable read for thriller and mystery fans.

Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) provided by the Author and Publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an fair and honest review.

I've not read any of Lisa Jackson's recent books, but I have read her in the past. She is a really good mystery-suspense author and I really enjoyed the intriguing tale that unfolds in "Liar, Liar". The beginning hooked me and the ending was seat of your pants suspense, the middle, alas, dragged a bit. The baddie and the why remained a mystery to the very end.

Didi Storm is a celebrity impersonator specializing in Marilyn Monroe with a lounge act in Las Vegas,NV. Most of her life is shrouded in mystery and misdirection. Twenty years ago she left her home bent on revenge and was never seen again. Twenty years later her daughter, Remmi Storm sees a woman who greatly resembles Didi jump from the 19th floor of a San Francisco, CA hotel.

Didi's star is on the rise due to a tell-all book that is raising questions and making someone very nervous. Remmi just wants to know what happened to her mother, and her twin siblings, twenty years ago and will not stop until she has the answer.

Why? Why did this woman dressed like Didi jump to her death, or did she? Why? Why after twenty years did someone write that book? Why? Why was there never a trace of Didi or the twins? Lots of questions, no answers. When Remmi last saw her mother she was 15 and reeling from Didi's mysterious encounter in the desert where she exchanged one of the twins for a briefcase. The next day, Didi left and never returned. Shortly after the other twin disappeared with the nanny. No trace of any of them for twenty years.

As Remmi searched for answers she is shocked when Noah Scott, a boy from her Las Vegas days, reappears. He was also in the desert that night and barely lived. He ran and now, as a PI, is back for answers of his own. The twisted tale that emerges doesn't leave anyone unscathed and the fact that there is someone out there who doesn't want the truth reveled means Noah and Remmi are in danger.

This is my second book by Lisa Jackson and I must say, I don´t know if I´ll read another one.

As the first book I read by this author it =had great potential, it could have been a great book, but it was really boring with so many point of views. The story just didn´t evolved. I felt like I was reading the same part over and over, and was really annoying.

Which reminded me that I just read a book with a lot of poitn of views like this one, but it well written and didn´t gave the same feeling.

So, I´m sorry but I can´t say I liked this book.
