I would like to thank Netgalley and Kensington Books for an advance copy of Liar, Liar, a stand alone thriller set in San Francisco.

The novel opens with Remmi Storm witnessing a suicide. A woman dressed like Marilyn Monroe jumps from a hotel window and Remmi fears it might be her mother, Didi, a Las Vegas impressionist who disappeared in mysterious circumstances twenty years ago. It's not Didi but who she is and why she was impersonating Didi occupy Remmi and detective Dani Settler throughout the novel.

I thoroughly enjoyed Liar, Liar which is an entertaining read with twist upon twist and plenty of action. For those readers who like some realism in their reading this is not the novel for them as it's nonsense and no way near believable but it's good nonsense as it's exciting and compelling and had me feverishly turning the pages to see what was coming next. It's a good example of escapist fiction as Ms Jackson's writing always is.

The novel is told in two parts. It opens with the attention grabbing suicide then swings back to the events of twenty years ago when Didi Storm disappeared, leaving Remmi behind with more questions than answers. Remmi has always looked for her mother but the suicide is the closest she has got so then the novel switches back to the present day. I'm not usually a big fan of dual timelines but with the events of the past having such a bearing on the present it is necessary in this case, in fact essential. Fortunately the novel doesn't switch between them as that would have been distracting. I like that the reader is given most of the necessary information in one chunk then Ms Jackson moves on. I say most as the perpetrator is a well hidden secret, another good thing in my thinking.

It is difficult to discuss the characters without revealing plot details as they and their actions are intrinsic to the narrative. The novel is plot driven so Ms Jackson doesn't waste much time developing them. Both Remmi and Dani Settler are, for different reasons, solitary women. Dani is a dedicated investigator with a thirst for the truth and not much else in her life. Remmi is more social, working and living with an elderly woman but still pre-occupied with her mother's disappearance.

Liar, Liar is a good read which I have no hesitation in recommending.

I didn’t figure out the mystery until it was staring me in the face. I felt for the characters and liked the women detective a lot. Remmi broke my heart but the ending made all the angst worth it.

I usually love lisa jackson books and she is on my list of best authors..This one just didn't do it for me...I thought the first 3/4 of the book were just long and boring..The last 1/4 of the book was really good and really wrapped everything up for me but it took too long to get to that point.. It is not a bad book but not her best...

I usually enjoy reading Lisa Jackson, but this one was a bit slow but still an overall decent read.

As always, Lisa Jackson never disappoints! I have read most, if not all, of her books and each one is a winner.
In the Prologue, we see a Marilyn Monroe type (impersonator) jump from a tall hotel. She dies instantaneously. The story begins 20 years earlier, when Didi Storm was working as a Marilyn Monroe impersonator in Las Vegas. At the time she is driving six week old twins (and her stowed-away 15 year old daughter) in a classic Cadillac through the Nevada desert. Didi's goal is to "sell" her twins (preferably for double the cash) to their biological father. When Didi meets with the father, he can only have one - he wasn't told there were twins. He needs to pay another quarter million to Didi for the other twin. He gets ticked off and choses the boy twin. Of course, Didi figured he would want an heir and dressed the girl in blue and the boy in pink. Now he would have to "buy" the other when he found this out! However, after a bomb goes off and a bit of shooting, as well, Didi leaves with the boy twin (and stowed-away daughter) and her money. Didi finds out that night that about 10% of the money is not phoney. Oh, well.
Oliver, the twins' rich uncle, wants the business from daddy someday, so he needs the boy for inheritance purposes. He may have planned this? We never find out - Oliver is poisoned to death.
Present Day; Remmi (Didi's daughter) is 35 years old - happens to see the Marilyn Monroe look-alike jump to her death. We all think this is a major coincidence. It was not Didi - who has now been missing for 20 years. Her daughter still hopes to find her but is not actively pursuing this. Noah Scott, Remmi's high school sweetheart, shows up - he's been in the army and now works as a PI. Another coincidence? A book about Didi Storm's life had also been recently published and is taking off well. Didi and Noah plan to visit Ned and Trudie ((both author and friend of Didi). However, when Noah and Remmi get to Ned and Trudie's place, they find a bloodbath and call the police. Both Remmi and Noah are grilled by the police; Trudie is dead; Ned is barely alive.
The detectives on the case find out that the true ID of the hotel suicide was Karen Upgarde and investigate.
Meanwhile, Remmi's aunt and cousins come under the microscope as does (hardly known) Uncle Billy. Remmi and Noah visit the family that all live under one roof, now, and Noah plants a bug in the living room. Hyper-religious Aunt Vera admits to taking 25K for the info for the book. Nothing else!
Didi is found in her Cadillac buried in a construction site. So as not to divulge any spoilers, I will end with the phone call Vera makes: "...I told you we should never have gotten Karen involved...you'd better fix it...can't be linked to her...she jumped off the ledge and brought the spotlight on us." And the conclusion is a stunner!
Many thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this !!!

The book starts with Remmi watching her mother fall off a building. Then the story goes back 20 years to build up to what happened in the beginning of the book. Overall I did enjoy the story, and the interaction of Remmi and Noah. With the title, the clue of lies is there, and there are plenty in the story. A lot of characters and red herrings made it hard at times to keep things in order, but basically a good murder mystery, and one I highly recommend. Have not read a lot by this author, but would definitely read more.

Liar Liar what an interesting title and you'll find that a lot of lies are thrown around as the reader searches with Didi Storm's daughter Remmi to find out what happened to her mother two decades before. Lisa Jackson takes her time setting up the plot describing Remmi's early years when she followed her impersonator mother around through Vegas and helps with baby twins of which the world knows as only being one. Secretly observing her mother's actions she is shocked to watch a twin being sold and then soon finds herself alone with no one. Then requiring adult supervision it is off to her Aunt's house and high school years filled with her aunt's dislike for her and her mother. Now as an adult when a seemingly Didi impersonator jumps to her death Remmi is ready to solve the mystery of her mother's disappearance and whether she and the twins are alive or dead. The story begins to move now that Jackson's characters are all in play and you will root for Remmi to find her answers and maybe more than she intended. If you like Jackson you'll enjoy the story but it is a bit different from most of those I've read with a much slower takeoff. Yet you will want to keep on reading to find out what really happened to Didi Storm and Remmi's siblings.

Lisa Jackson consistently gives the reader a book with interesting characters and a story of intrigue. In Liar, Liar she does it again. The story is full and heartbreaking. A great book to sit down with this summer.

A man burned to death in his car in the middle of the desert. A teen boy is shot. Disappearing babies. The fact that Remmi Storm witnesses the apparent suicide of her mother, a woman she hadn't seen in twenty years. Remmi's mother was Didi Storm, a Marilyn Monroe impersonator, somone whose career never quite reached its stride. This is all tied together, but how?

What's more is that Remmi's life is at stake. What really happened twenty years ago and why is it trailing closely behind her now? With the help of Noah Scott, someone from Remmi's past, things begin to reveal themselves. However, Remmi is not even sure that she can trust him.

Liar Liar is a story of deceit, murder and duplicity. This was an easy read, easily devoured in one sitting, and one that I read with a sense of urgency. I am relatively new to Lisa Jackson's work, but am definitely a new fan.

Many thanks to Kensington Books and to NetGalley for this ARC to review.

I am a huge Lisa Jackson fan. I did enjoy Liar, Liar. I thought it was a little slow in places but overall was a good story. The cast of characters was great.

Twenty years ago Remmi was a teenager who got it in her mind she was going to sneak out one night but when her mother comes in Remmi hides in her mother’s old Cadillac in the garage. What Remmi didn’t expect was for her mother to load her newborn twins int he Cadillac and take off late at night while she was hiding in the trunk.

With nothing to do but stay quiet or have to explain what she was doing up and hiding in the car Remmi holds on for a bumpy ride. When the car finally stops it seems to be in the middle of nowhere and her mother takes the twins out of the car to meet a strange man mumbling something about their daddy.

Things go wrong out there though and when Remmi confronts her mother she still refuses to give any answers. Was Remmi’s mother trying to sell one of her siblings to the stranger? And then when her mother doesn’t return home sixteen year old Remmi finds herself with a baby and no where to go.

Liar, Liar by Lisa Jackson begins with an exciting moment in the present before taking readers back twenty years in the first part to set the story before returning to the present. The majority of the story is told from Remmi’s point of view although occasionally it does switch. For me this one was an alright read but I wouldn’t exactly call it gripping or a real page turner. It’s one that sort of lacks the sense of urgency which in turn doesn’t end up being quite as gripping as I’d like. Not bad overall but just one that is alright to pass the time but somewhat forgettable when done.

I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

I have never read a Lisa Jackson book I didn't like and enjoy and this one is no exception. Remmi has had no contact with her mother or infant siblings in 20 years. Remmi happens upon what appears to be a suicide. The woman is wearing one of her mother's costumes of Marilyn Monroe. Is this a publicity stunt because of a recently published book about her mother? The police (and Remmi and a friend from the past) look for answers to a lot of questions. There are no lack of liars in the characters in this book. There are many twists and turns in this story and it kept my interest to the end. Thank you NetGalley, Kensington Books and the Author for allowing me to read and review this book.

I like Lisa Jackson's work quite a lot. This one, however, was not my favorite. I have it three stars because I just wasn't drawn into the story this time.

I'm not sure what I think of this one. It's got some serious moments of holding your attention while also leaving you wondering just what this book is actually supposed to be about. It's got some wonderfully fantastic characters that I would love to follow (Remmi, Noah, Greta, and Jade).

I gave this three stars because there were such great characters. I hate writing reviews where I don't necessarily care for the story but everything is not for everyone and you'll have to make your own decision as to whether it is for you or not.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

So, I generally like Lisa Jackson’s books. They’re easy reads with a nice mix of romance and suspense.

I just wasn’t all that into the plot on this one.

It was slow and I really didn’t care whether or not they actually found out what happened to Didi. I was just kind of…bored.

In addition, I felt like the reason behind everything got seriously convoluted, but still left a plot point hanging.

So, this one really wasn’t for me. I’ll read the author again, but I just needed something a little more exciting.

As a young teen Remmi Was left to fend for herself when her Mother left, promising to return. She never shows up. Now 20 years later a book has come out about her Mom, DiDi. A woman resembling DiDi jumps off a building to her death. Is her death related to the disappearance of DiDi? A voice from the past shows up to help Remmi find out what happened to her Mother and the twins that were only a few months old when DiDi disappeared.

This book has several mysteries with all sorts of roads to travel down in search of the truth. You won’t want to put it down. There was a surprise at the ending that I didn’t expect. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

LIAR LIAR by Lisa Jackson. Kensington June 26
Looking up to the twentieth floor a possible suicide, Didi Storm, looking like a beauty queen, a Marilyn Monroe look alike. She was a Vegas impersonator, leaving Remmi to fend for herself. Was it really Didi, after a tell a book comes out, Noah a PI and Remmi decide to find out what really happened that night. Good mystery of a cold case, to right a wrong, and to solve. With Noah injured and waking up with Remmi, could there be a chance of more after all these years. Given ARC by Net Galley and Kensington for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.

I have read all of Lisa Jackson's books but this was not my favorite story line. The characters did not draw me in like most of her books do. And I would have liked a happier ending
