I thought this would be an interesting book, as someone who always looks forward to stories that resemble those of my favorite author: Stephen King.

I liked the idea of something holding this man to his profession, of a certain evil behind the veil that others can't see. And I like that we have an unreliable protagonist who is selfishly misogynistic. As much as I wanted to punch the guy in the face, the story was we'll set up and I think there were good things to this book.

As much as you want to hate the guy you have to realize that for a very long time our main character has given his life to falsehood. He doesn't write any of his books himself and it as so that he has "sold his soul" for his name and fortune... And ladies.

The first half was very slow written and tedious but nonetheless the usual introduction. You see into the eyes of our character starting at a tour signing... And in the end, a place you kind of expected.

To avoid spoilers I am just going to say that the so called "evil force" wasn't the tiniest bit scary or imposing. I was rather bored of the idea and I found myself uninterested.

There were parts half way through that I could get into, such as side characters that were important but weren't given the light of day as often as I wish they were.

The book was more of a disappointment and there weren't enough scenes to keep me interested. But I did enjoy the theme overall and the fact that we have a character we aren't imposed to like.

I was so looking forward to reading this novel after reading the synopsis. It held so much promise.
Unfortunately, I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. Was not a book for me, but that in no way means that others would not find it enjoyable. I just found the story developed very slowly for my liking, and I think that was one of the main points that put me off.
