The Silent Sister is one i have been looking forward to reading for a while and i am glad i got to! I haven't read any Shalini Boland for this ( i dont recall) but i know i have more to go and cannot wait.

When Lizzy finds a distrubing letter in her house one day, it looks old and tattered but it certainly isn't old and has not been sat there a while, which means - how an earth did it get there? Living in a quiet little village it begs all sort of questions as these things just dont happen.

As the letters become more regular with a few other incidents that are set out to destroy Lizzy she begins to point fingers, almost trying to solve the mystery on her own. With the help of the police she is sure she has it all figured out, but as things continue and things are getting worse - it cant be the case.

Lizzy starts to consider the option it may be her estranged sister, they obviously were on bad terms but could she really be doing all this? Did she really want to ruin her life?

With all this going on its amazing what else was simmering in the background, friendships falling apaart, work relationships straining and romantic relationships on the brink. For a quiet little place there is a heck of alot going on.

Whilst i really enjoyed this, and i often thought i had it worked out to find i didnt, so it totally kept me clueless - it didnt bring out the anxious side of me i sometimes get with thrillers, but that doesnt make it any less enjoyable - it was almost a more steady paced thriller as opposed to a more manic one.

Really enjoyable and a great introduction to thrillers if you haven't read much of the genre.

I dont believe that Shalini Boland can actually write a bad book!

Anything she puts her name to always ends up a riveting read that I cant put down.

Her characters are totally relatable- her stories flow unlike no other- never once do her tales feel forced.

I requested this book based on her name- the story didnt really call to me- but as per usual Ms Boland offers up a story i cant quite get out of my head

Wow she’s gone and done it again! Shalini really is an exceptional author who’s work never gets samey or boring!

I loved this, Lizzie finds a letter under her floorboards addressed to her with a sinister message, she then begins to be stalked and harassed by the same person who wrote the letter. Who can she trust? Everyone is a suspect basically and I didn’t know who was the perpetrator, I really felt for her but she also made some pretty stupid decisions in the book with I found frustrating lol....which all added to the stress of her situation!

A great read though another “just one more chapter” books full of twists and turns and a great read in all.

I’ve read all of Shalini’s books and this one doesn’t disappoint. The storyline had me hooked and I liked the fact everyone could be a suspect and got me thinking about who, why etc. The ending is great, a lovely twist and then ... bang a killer twist, love it. Well done.

Both of the books that I have previously reviewed were books that I have enjoyed (In some sense of that word). This book falls short of the expectations that came with reading another book by the same author. This is the story of Lizzy who is leading a regular life with a lack of colour. Then, things get strange as she starts receiving notes with very vaguely written messages that can be construed as threats. Simultaneously, we are also given a look into the mind of someone who could count as the perpetrator.

The tone of the tale is written well, you can see the desperation of the situation and sympathize with Lizzy but it was hard to empathize with her. I found it equally hard to understand a lot of her actions considering her precarious situation. This and the fact that the resolution seemed too out of the blue, dampened my enthusiasm for this story. The plus points of the book are the writing and the fact that it is not very big, it does not take long to be told what the actual facts were before you tire of the troubles that the protagonist faces. The epilogue as usual packs a punch. This means that a more impartial reader who goes in with no prior ideas might like this more than I did.

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book! I liked the main character, Lizzy, and really it was easy to follow the story along. I didn't see the twist at the very end... super crazy! Lizzy starts getting these anonymous creepy notes that put her on edge. They show up in her home, at her work and even her car. There could be many people doing this... her estranged sister, her boyfriend, her boss, the creepy bar owner down the street, her coworker or even her coworker's brother who seems to have a crush on her. It is hard to guess who might be behind this. I enjoyed reading every page to find out!

The Silent Sister is definitely character driven, and it is narrated by the main character, a style I prefer. What kept me from loving this book? I never made a connection to the main character which kept me from feeling the suspense. I wanted to see some character growth and complexity, but she remained shallow and two dimensional for me. I did appreciate the well woven plot, there was very little telegraphing of the twists. The Silent Sister was entertaining just not riveting for me.

Shalini Boland always comes up with the most interesting premises. In this story, Lizzy has a stalker. It all begins when a mysterious envelope lands in her house. She has no idea who left the envelope and the message is cryptic. Someone is obsessed with her and whoever it is, they have already been in her house! The stalking gets worse and more dangerous as the story progresses.

Once again, I couldn’t guess the identity of the baddie. I was just as clueless as Lizzy. I suspected everyone that she suspected plus the cat and other random strangers. Everyone! What I really liked about this story is the fact that the police were involved and for a change, they actually did believe the MC. Have you noticed that it doesn’t happen this way in thrillers? In most cases, nobody believes the MC. In this one, they all did but still, nobody had the answers.

The reveal ended up being surprising and I also like how and where it was done. The setting added to the mounting tension! The identity of the stalker and their motives was something that I would never have guessed.

As always, the author dropped the mother of all bombshells in the epilogue. Shalini’s epilogues are always jaw dropping. I remember getting to the end of the book when my heart started racing because I knew that a monster twist was coming and OMG, what a way to end an already suspenseful read.

The Silent Sister by Shailini Boland is a fast-paced, twisty, compelling psychological thriller, perfect for all fans of this genre.

3.5 stars. I have read this authors other books and thoroughly enjoyed them but this one fell a bit short for me. The story wasn’t very suspenseful and it was a bit flat. It was a quick easy read but didn’t keep me hooked

Really enjoy this author's style, suspense and intrigue keep you turning 'just another page'

Its a light, quick read with enough mystery and red herrings to keep you guessing and an ending that I personally didn't see coming. My only problem with this book is that I found Lizzy extremely irritating, from her handling of management issues to her lack of judgement or common sense .. I found some of her actions and her keenness to accuse anyone and everyone of stalking her a little unbelievable. Not investing in the lead character definitely impacted my enjoyment of the book, had Lizzy and I got along better this would have been a solid 4 star read.

3.5 - 4 stars

Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture - My honest thoughts and opinion are expressed in this review

I really enjoyed this story and loved the twist at the end which tied everything together. I kept wanting to know what would happen next and couldn't wait to finish the book. The characters are very believable and I especially enjoyed the way Emma and lizzy, the two sisters, repaired their relationship. A very surprising twist resulted to their father combined with a next-door neighbor kept me reading in anticipation. I would recommend this book and would love to read more from this wonderful author.

Really enjoyed this book! I always love reading Shalini Boland's books and this was no exception. I was gripped from the beginning and couldn't wait to find out who Lizzy's mysterious stalker and letter sender was. I had it in my mind a few times but the twist took me by surprise. There was also another one right at the end that threw a bit of a curveball on what had gone before too. A great read with lots of suspense. I read it in under 2 days, which is a mark of how much I wanted to race through it. The story is told entirely through Lizzy's eyes, which means we go through the rollercoaster with her and see things and characters through her perspective. That's what makes the epilogue so surprising, I think. Can't wait for Shalini Boland's next book!

A really enjoyable read. Loved the characters and the plot. Can't say it was full of twists and turns, however, the ending and particularly the epilogue was certainly unexpected.
