Another stunning comic from K. O'Neill. Gorgeous art and touching story which will particularly appeal to younger readers.

Aquicorn Cove is such a great book! Katie O’Neill has done a fantastic job on another book! It’s a great story! It has such great characters! If you like stories about the ocean and how we need to treat it better, please read this book.

I adore Katie O'Neill's illustration style. It's so soft and adorable. The baby seashore is one of the cutest things I've ever seen. Fans of her other work will love this. The emphasis on marine life and then the connection to real life actions to better sea life and the oceans was a nice touch.

Unfortunately this didn't work on any of my devices - it was just a page of code! But thank you very much for accepting me to read it. I will definitely be trying to get a copy when I can because it looks great.

This book’s too cute to be real.

To start things off, this has Katie O’Neill’s usual artstyle, which is absolutely wonderful. Not only are the colours beautiful, the shading and drawings are great.

To top things off, the story portrayed (and the way it’s portrayed) is well thought out, bringing awareness to issues without being preachy (I’m looking at you, Cowspiracy).

Read this book, especially if you need more soft lesbians in your life.

Hola!

This graphic novel was super cute! I love the way the fantasy, family, and conversation elements all wove together into a story that can be enjoyed by all age groups. The art style and colors were lovely and I cannot wait to pick up more of O'Neill's work!

A lovely and cute illustrated story. The story isn't all cute it delves into deep waters with depression and loss. But the illustrates balances out those darks with the beautiful and light illustrations.

This is adorable and precious and something that should be read and adored by everyone. I have yet to read a story by Katie O'Neill that doesn't inspire and wrap me in warmth and beauty.

This book is about a little girl, Lana, who travels to her aunt’s village to help rebuild after a big storm. Her mother died in the ocean but never wanted Lana to fear it. While the girl walks on the beach, she finds a small creature, a baby aquicorn, and decides to take care of it.
I had never read anything by this author but I had heard of her. When I saw this book on Netgalley, I decided to give it a try, see what it was all about. I’m glad I did it.
The story was short but it mentioned some important effects over-fishing has on the marine ecosystems. The characters and the art style were cute and simple but conveyed the message well.
I loved this graphic novel and will check out more of this author’s books.

An all-ages comic about protecting the environment, with lovely art. This was nominated for a BooktubeSFF Award in the Graphic Work category.

We follow Lana, who returns to her home town by the sea with her father to help clear out after a big storm. Her mother has passed away, and they are staying with her aunt. While there she learns about these magical creatures living in the coral reef. This comic has a nice environmental message for kids, and has information about climate change, coral reefs, and protecting the environment at the back of the book. The main theme seems to be using resources sustainably.

One thing I was a bit confused about was the fact that Lana's aunt smokes constantly, and right at the very beginning of the book is shown throwing a stump to the ground. This is not referred to by the characters, but the stump is given its very own panel, so maybe that is meant to give it some importance and tie her littering with the theme of not looking at the bigger picture?

I always find Katie O'Neill's art a pleasure, it's cute and warm and colorful. With that said, I enjoyed the art from the previous thing I read from her, The Tea Dragon Society, more. This might be a weird opinion, but it might be because this was too orange for me, and I liked the color tones of Tea Dragon more.

O'Neill's stories tend to be a bit too simplistic for me to full-on love them, and like I said the subject matter of Tea Dragons made me enjoy the art of that one more.

This comic features a female/female romance. If you are looking for all-ages comics with some representation, O'Neill's comics are a good choice for that.

This is another utterly delightful addition to Oni Press's collection of Katie O'Neill graphic novels for all ages. Protagonist Lana has returned to her seaside hometown with her father after a horrible storm has wrecked everything in sight. She offers to help restore things to their proper order, and in the midst of everything finds an aquicorn, a sweet little sea-faring creature. She learns about the dangers of over-fishing and taking the ocean for granted through exploring an underwater palace and meeting its guardian. A very gentle, moving story about people's relationship to nature, especially to the sea. O'Neill's artwork remains adorable, bright, and friendly, and her creature designs are outstanding.

This was nice. Beautiful art and a story with a important message. A bit young for me, but would highly reccomend it for younger readers.

A delightful, whimsical, beautiful little gem of a graphic novel with a real message at its core: let's take care of this precious, fragile world we inhabit. Suitable for very young readers, it also includes lovely little gestures toward the nuanced social awareness we have come to appreciate from O'Neill's work.

Overall an adorably illustrated tale that kids are going to love. A bit more wholesome than the usual dogman and captain underpants fare so I’ll be glad to recommend it to hesitant readers

This is a surprisingly complex interpersonal story with a strong ecological message. we see how grief creates fear, how differing backgrounds cause conflict in a romantic relationship. The aunt and the sea spirit love each other but being unwilling to listen to another's perspective makes things much worse for both of them. THe illustrations are utterly charming. Soft lines and pastels add to the overall magic of the story.
It feels a bit truncated. With the sheer scope of the plot, this is a surprisingly short book.

A super cute and adorable book backed with a meaningful and heartwarming storyline. Loved the environmental awareness depicted in this book. Highly recommended!

I adored Katie O’Neill’s previous graphic novel The Tea Dragon Society so

and was eagerly anticipating Aquixorm Cove when I came across it on NetGalley.

Aquicorn Cove follows Lana

The strongest part of this graphic novel is the artwork. Katie O’Neill’s art, particularly her use of color is absolutely breathtaking. The story, while containing a powerful message about the need to protect our environment, felt a little lacking especially compared to the writing in The Tea Dragon Society but overall this was a thoroughly enjoyable read with gorgeous artwork. I plan on picking up multiple copies for myself and my younger siblings. And possibly an extra copy of myself so I can can carefully tear out some of the artwork and hang it up. It’s that beautiful!
