MARTINA'S KITCHEN MIX is a great cookbook for a beginner or a busy working mom. It has great recipes that are not too complicated to follow, accompanied by stunning photographs. In this book, you'll find the "Ad Libs" section, where Martina offers tips for switching up the recipe. She also encourages her reader to use her recipe as the starting point, and add their own twist. I love how she includes song playlist on every recipe.

If you are planning to entertain friends and family at your house, this is the cookbook that you need.

Recipes that I tried that approved by my family:
- Pumpkin Cornbread
- Fresh Apple Cake with Caramel Sauce
- Green Beans with Goat Cheese
- Flavia's Deviled Eggs
- Hoppin' John
- Baked French Toast with Pecan Crumble

Most people when they hear the name Martina McBride they think of country music. But this book will show you another side of her. The recipes in the book will have your mouth watering. There are tons of photo's of more than just the food. You get an inside look at Martina's life off stage. The recipes use farm fresh ingredients. I have personally made a couple and they were outstanding and easy to make.

Thanks Netgalley for letting me read this book.

This was a good cook book with some good recipes that I will try. A Tai slaw that looked good, cinnamon rolls that I am always willing to try, a cheddar biscuits with bacon that looked good also. The book led off though with a recipe for a homemade orange – cherry almond granola that really is worth the time to try. There is also a quick recipe collard greens that I have not seen before. There were other ones that did not suit me but that is like every cook book. The photos and stories were both excellent as were the directions for each recipe, easy to follow instructions as well as her encouragement to add or change to try a different flavor which was something different as well. I did like her recipe for a flour-less chocolate cake that is real easy to make. Overall a very good book.

I've been watching Martina McBride's cooking show on Food Network and I've found many new recipes to try. I was really excited to see this cookbook from her (and to find out that she had a previously released one that I didn't know about until now). There were a number of recipes I'd like to try in this book and I enjoyed the way Martina gave a background on the recipes and told a story with them. Just as she does on the show, she invites readers into her kitchen as she shares her recipes.

This is not just another celebrity cookbook. It has real teeth to it. Great recipes, fabulous photos and great stories to go along with it. This books really shows Martina McBride to be one who puts family first. She truly loves her family and it shows. The recipes were really easy to follow and delicious. I also loved the photos. Great quality. This is a great cookbook besides a book about Martina. Loved it.

I love Martina McBride, I’ve always been a big fan of hers and I was excited to get to read more about her cooking style. Goodness, she’s got some great recipes. I was already compiling a list of things I wanted to make in the first section of appetizers. She had me hooked from the recipe for a Whipped Feta Crostini. I love that Martina’s Kitchen Mix also includes lots of variations on recipes and ways to tweak things to your own taste. Her anecdotes are charming and engaging and I love that she shared the Kitchen Prayer hanging that was her grandmother’s and is always in her kitchen. This book is a must-read for anyone who loves food and Martina fans will swoon! Grab a copy of Martina’s Kitchen Mix for the holidays and make sure to tune into the Food Network for the TV show too!

Martina's Kitchen Mix by Martina McBride includes a mix of new style recipes and some Southern oddities. I love that the recipes are fairly simple. The slow cooker chicken tikka masala is on my to try list even though I will have to shop online for a couple of the spices. The chipotle chicken taco salad will be a regular summer meal at my house. Among the oddities is a banana and mayonnaise dish. For you non-Southerners, bananas and mayonnaise are amazing together. The pictures are a nice mix of the finished dishes and the author.

I'm a sucker for a good recipe book and this one didn't disappoint.
The introductions and explanations are very nice. They have a nice, chatty feel to them. Everything is very family-centered you get the feeling that family is very important to her.
Ad Lib: great additions for tweaks etc to recipes.
Don't knock it 'til you try it: what a nice addition. Slightly unconventional recipes, but I love the personal feel of these recipes.
The photography is really wonderful. I love the chapter header pages - the music and food link. I'm a sucker for photographs of final products (& of course a peek into someone's kitchen is always a bonus)
There are quite a few recipes here that I'm going to use:
Blackberry Lemon G&T - sounds like refreshing heaven in a glass.
John's Bacon Wrapped Olives - can taste the contrasting flavours. Will definitely try this one out - I do a bacon wrapped cherry version often. Serving both together would be impressive; sweet and savoury.
Watermelon, Cucumber, Tomato Salad with Feta & Fresh Herbs - sounds so refreshing. Something for nice summery days. Will make a perfect Christmas dinner salad for us folk in the Southern Hemisphere where our Christmas's are hot and sunny.
Broccoli & Cauliflower Salad - sounds yummy.
I love the quote "Food plays such a big part in memory". It is so true. So many dishes that are passed down remind one of the original maker. Many friends have a "signature" dish and when you see it anywhere, you immediately think of them.
A really great book for the kitchen shelf. Dip in, tweak them to suit you and make some memories.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for allowing me to read a copy of this book.

All the celebrities now have cookbooks and some of them are good and some of them are not. This particular one by Martina McBride is one of the good ones. Easy to follow instructions and pictures too. Can't wait to get my own copy.

This is a visually appealing cookbook. The photos are pretty and the food looks delicious. Most of the ingredients are items I usually have on hand. The recipes seem fairly simple to follow and the writing is easy to understand. It's "refreshing" that Cocktails are included. This book is a great help to anyone that wants to quickly cook tasty and easy meals.

I thought this was a really good cookbook. With beautiful pictures, clear instructions, helpful tips, ad libs, and over 100 enticing recipes, you get a lot to work with. Add in quite a bit of charm and entertaining personal stories and the book is not only helpful but very entertaining. I found most of the recipes to be in the easy to moderate skill range and they cover everything from breakfast, lunch and dinner, to also beverages and desserts. From the mainstream (Spaghetti & Meatballs), to something a bit different (Blackberry-Lemon Gin & Tonic). So regardless of your recipe need you should be able to find something to try.

I love reading cookbooks because I love to cook at home. I was excited to get started on a few of the recipes, but I found that several of the items I couldn't get locally. I was a little upset over it but I figured I'd make some of the what I would consider easy recipes. I did find that the instructions were a little perfect to follow. My food may not have come out looking like it did in the book, but I will be using it again in the future. Thanks for such a good book!
