This is going to have to be a book that I return to in the future. At the moment I have an idea swirling around in my head (nothing to do with this blog - more of a nod to my profession). Because I have this idea there is too much for me to digest in one sitting. I have ideas from the first read that I will be acting on (most particularly making sure that I have a clearly defined target audience, which will help me to then decide on the level of technicality and the voice I want to use.

Looking at writing from differing perspectives (bestseller, cognitive scientist and economist) means that most non-fiction writers can get advice in their specific area. But that is not to say what the experts offer is limited to any specific subject.

I love the section on how not to be boring. It is absolutely the easiest way to turn-off a reader, particularly as the reader may already know most of the information and be looking for a fresh presentation or a aide-memoire.

A super read that I will return to at various points to help me define my writing of non-fiction. I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in non-fiction writing.

An ARC was provided by the publisher, through netgalley, with the understanding that I would write an honest review.

I decided to read this book because like every teacher I'm always in search of learning something that will help me teach my students better. The title of the book caught my attention and decided to give it a try. I was surprisingly pleased with this book. Witching the first pages of the book, I found things that I could use to motivate my students to write more. I also learned about two things that I loved and in fact immediately to.d my principal about and we might implement one at school.. One was a research called "birds of a feather" where students and teachers were given a survey and then we're told of all the simmilarities they had in common. The other cool thing in the book that I loved was the Alan Alda method, I actually google it and looked for more info on it because I thought that the explanation on the book was great. Just like this two there are more interesting ideas and research that will help you get a better understanding of what is to write with a purpose I. Mind.
