Thank you to NetGalley for a free digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is the first book I’ve read in the series. This is just the right level of spooky and some diversity in characters.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the review copy.

I have to say I did not read book one in this series. However, I feel you don't actually have to read it to enjoy book 2. I do however feel that the book put to much detail at times explaining certain thing. I did enjoy the book and thought the plot was very cute. I do suggest the book to others though. This did have some small scares that I found were done very well on the authors side.

I can't say if you enjoyed book one, you will like this one since I did not read book one. Just a small disclaimer.

The second book in the Babysitting Nightmares series did not disappoint. It has me turning pages as fast as I could to find out what was going on in that house with that clock. This group of girls has quite the calling and they are determined to figure out every mystery they come across, even if they're terrified. Kat Shepherd knows how to write for her market. Her story flow and arc are perfect and she holds readers in each and every chapter. I love this series and can't wait for the next!

The Phantom Hour is the second book in the Babysitting Nightmares series. Reading the first book is not necessarily required before reading this book. I am usually a fan of haunting stories, but must admit that I am not a fan of this book. Shepherd spends an enormous amount of time describing things and people to such a degree that is slows down the story and makes it feel like a slog. Even though there are great attempts to make the characters pop off the page, they feel very flat and dull. This just was not an enjoyable book for me.

I really enjoyed this book! I loved the first book in this series and this one is just as well-written and creepy! I like the characters and their diversity. I would hand this book to anyone who loves a spooky story with good character development.

The Babysitting Nightmares series is so much fun. I started reading The Phantom Hour earlier tonight at work (it was a quiet night), and I only stopped because it was closing time. I just finished it, and I really enjoyed it. I can't wait for the third book. My only complaint would be that the author spends what seems like an unnecessary amount of time describing the clothes that the girls wear. These descriptions can be a little tedious at times. This is a minor complaint, however. Overall, this book is a good one. Kids that like spooky stories will definitely like this series. I've already suggested it to a friend, and I can't wait to tell more people about it.

What an excellent continuation to the series. While I wasn't sure where the series could/should go, Shepherd does not disappoint and creates an enjoyable second chapter to this verse.
