When I read the first book in the Torpedo Ink series, Judgment Road, I liked it but I felt a bit lost since I hadn’t read either the Drake Sisters or the Sea Haven series that this series spun off from. I still haven’t gotten around to reading the other series and other than giving me the reminder I need to move those books up on my TBR, I had no issues this time around. In fact, I liked this book even more, although I have to warn you, with Steele and his Torpedo Ink’s family’s dark past, like may not be the right word. This covered some challenging topics that were hard to read but I couldn’t put it down.

“Control is an illusion, Steele. I learned that a long time ago. It doesn’t matter who appears to have it. We really only can control ourselves.”

If you haven’t figured it out yet, Steele and his brothers and sisters are effed up in a huge way. Their pasts are dark and ugly and I didn’t like reading about their stories at all. What I appreciated was the unshakable bond they formed as children while trying to survive a hell hole. Even when he was a child, Steele was assigned the impossible task of keeping all the other children alive and he was doomed to fail, only saving eighteen of the hundreds of kids that ended up in the hellhole with them. Because of this, Steele may be more messed up than the rest of them.

Bree was the daughter of one of the Sword’s MC’s chapter presidents but he didn’t treat her as a prized possession. Instead, she was beaten and abused her whole life. She became Steele’s when he was undercover with the Swords but he chased her away so she wouldn’t get hurt when they took the Sword’s trafficking business down. The problem was, he did his job too well and hurt her to the extent she made it to where she couldn’t be found after they achieved their objective. That is until the worst happened and she had to find him.

“You tore me apart, Steele,” she admitted in a small voice. “Completely and utterly apart. I didn’t think I could survive and I didn’t even know if I wanted to.”

The chemistry between them was never in question, but Bree had lost trust in him and that’s a hard thing to earn back. This meant there was a lot of baggage to be unpacked if she was ever to give him a chance again. And then there was the real reason she had come to him and the impossible task set before him and the terrible cost if they failed.

I liked both Steele and Bree although I got frustrated with her inability to see the forest through the trees. There were also things that felt repetitive though not to the degree that the first book had. This book was full of emotion and gave me all the feels, was sexy as hell, but also gave me lots of edge of my seat action. Because of the tough to take subject matter, I’ll be careful to pick when I read the next one, but there is no doubt I’ll be reading it.

A volatile second chance…

I swear the first reads of this author’s stories are done in sonic time, I’m so anxious to devour them! Of course that means I reread them, savoring slowly (at least I make an attempt) the next time around. I admit, Breezy and Steele’s story has been read at least twice (so far)…

Their second chance was rife with anger and resentment, shock and stubbornness. Each emotion reared its head as their reunion was anything but warm. And those emotions? Yeah, I felt each and every one.
Steele was blindsided by Breezy’s return and realizing the devastation he’d caused. Strong and protective, his gentleness came out in so many different ways. He vowed to fix his mistakes while making Breezy his once and for all. She had suffered the fallout of his actions, true, but she wasn’t looking for love any longer. She needed his help desperately, and she asked for it, but that was all. She had grown up a lot and she was determined to continue standing on her own two feet…

They were both forces of nature with the hurt, the passion - their love – always bubbling under the surface. Mix that with danger, and a few surprises, and you have another great addition to this addictive series!

Breezy Simmons swore she would never be a part of club life again. Most MC’s treat women like possessions or worse – like slaves. That’s exactly what she witnessed while growing up in the Swords clubhouse. Her own father was the President and still she was lucky to escape alive. That had a whole lot to do with Steele.

Years ago, she belonged only to him. And now she was alone and needed the kind of help that only Torpedo Ink could give her.

“She closed her eyes at the brush of his fingers. She’d forgotten how gentle he could be. That whisper of a touch on her bare skin. The moment he did that, every nerve ending sprang to life. She hadn’t wanted a man since she’d left him. She hadn’t thought of wanting a man. She’d avoided them like the plague, first because she’d been pregnant, then because she’d been a single, harassed mother and then because men were disgusting creatures and she’d wanted no part of them. Lastly, and maybe most importantly, if she was honest, it had been because they weren’t Steele.
Those fingers whispered along her ribs, so gently she thought she might cry.
“Hurts here?”
He was bent over her, his hair falling toward her bare belly while his hands slid over her ribs. A healer’s hands. A lover’s hands. He’d been both before he destroyed her.”

The best days of Lyov “Steele” Russak’s life was when Breezy was by his side. Even though she was so young, she instinctively understood what it took to satisfy the monster inside. She could calm him down or arouse him instantly with just a touch of her hand.

When he sent her away, he told himself it was to keep her safe. But there wasn’t a day that went by that he didn’t dream of the day when she would return. He would protect her from everything that was ugly and cruel. She would finally live the full life that she deserved.

So when she walks back into Torpedo Ink, he’s sure of only one thing - that he’s never going to allow the other half of his soul to be torn from him again.

“When Ink was tatting this, putting my name on you, I thought my world was right. That it always would be because you were mine.” He gave her that because she gave him so much more. He ran the pad of his finger over his name. “I like you belonging to me, Bree. More importantly, I like belonging to you.”

Vengeance Road is Christine at her sizzling suspenseful best! With the second installment of the Torpedo Ink series, she continues to meld the very best elements of paranormal romance with gritty hard-hitting action.

We get closer look inside the relationships that make up Torpedo Ink. Each of the brothers show unexpected moments of both tenderness and savagery. But it’s the sparks between Steele and Breezy that keep the heat burning at white-hot levels to the very end.

This is an MC series NOT to be missed. And we can’t wait to take another ride…

Nikki’s Review:

Jesus, this book was hard to read at times. The descriptions of child abuse was difficult to get through. But it was also integral to the story. As much as it broke my heart, I needed to understand what Steele and his brothers endured. Their shared experiences shaped the men they turned into.

I loved the emotion in this book. It was dark and angsty, and that’s something that I am enjoying at the moment. Bree and Steele have a complicated past that is further complicated by a secret that Bree has kept to herself.

These two characters have both been through hell. They should be absolutely broken, but they’re not. They are some of the strongest characters I have ever read. The chemistry between them is hot AF! They continually burn up the pages with steamy passion. Yum!

I struggled a bit with Steele’s possessiveness. I love an over the top alpha hero, but he went beyond that. I had to really dig deep to understand his need to have Bree at his side at all times. I know it stems from his abuse as a child, but it was still hard to take at times.

The writing was well done, and the plot was very fast paced. I was totally invested in these characters. I’m already dying for the next book. There a number of supporting characters that I’ve already fallen hard for!

This book is full of heart pounding action and enough sexy times to steam up your windows!

I’ve said it once but I’ll say it again: Torpedo Ink is the series Christine Feehan was always meant to write and I am SO here for it. I loved this book. I don’t want to say too much about the plot because I would have been OFFENDED if anyone had ruined the surprise at the beginning of the book. Basically, this is a second chance romance between Breezy, a woman born into a violent motorcycle club, and Steele, a man with a traumatic past who broke Breezy’s heart.

There are many taboo elements to this book that took me by surprise but not in a bad way. I love that Christine has written almost 100 books, but she still manages to catch me by surprise. Her writing has really developed in the last few years, and I love that she feels comfortable enough to take chances. I didn’t think she could get grittier than her Leopard Series, but this series takes the cake.

What I enjoyed most: I adored Breezy. She could come across as a doormat at times but only because she is so scarred from her traumatic childhood. I can’t imagine anyone living through what she did and coming through it (mostly) healthy and whole. She was protective of the people she loved and so brave at times both emotionally, and by putting herself in actual danger, it brought tears to my eyes.

I liked Steele, he wasn’t my favorite CF hero ever, but he was protective, fierce, and he loved Breezy for precisely who she was. I enjoy that each MC member has a small touch of psychic abilities. It seemed like CF was trying to keep this series contemporary but couldn’t quite manage it.

The only part that knocked this book down one star was the jumbled ending. It seemed like CF wanted to let us learn a little bit more about the other MC members, which I appreciated but the last part just didn’t fit with the rest of the story. It didn’t take away from my love of Breezy and Steele in the least, but it did pull me out of the story a small amount.

Overall, Christine Feehan is one of the best romance authors out there. She writes consistently great characters. Her imagination simply astounds me. I am officially a huge fan of this series, and I can’t wait for the next book! I am guessing it’s Savage’s story (fingers crossed)!

4.25 Hearts There is just something about the the men in this book. They have been through a lot and seem to come out with strength. What I like it they seem like diamonds in the rough. You know with a little bit of shine they will gleam.

And the women are strong too. They aren’t the damsel in distress kind of girls. They can stand up for themselves and to anyone.

Feehan has been one of my favorites since I started reading her Ghostwalkers series and have gone back to read some of her others. She is really one that easily pulls you in.

Since this is only the 2nd in the series I suggest picking up the first one and then following it with this one so you can start the series from the beginning because you will not be disappointed in Feehan and her sexy men and strong women.

Vengeance Road is the first book I’m reading from Christine Feehan, and I’m happy to say that it was a success. Breezy and Steele were hot! From the very first time the two meet again, it’s chemistry so hot, it lights up. Breezy go the motorcycle club, Torpedo Ink, to give a message to her ex, and the man who destroyed her, Steele.

Breezy has her plan set in place—get in and get out. But things don’t go according to plan and now Steele won’t let her get away again. They have to stick together to get something very important that was taken from them. I liked Breezy because even though Steele was her one true love, she made him fight for her. He screwed up three years before and basically told her to F off. No in so many words, but that’s basically what he he told her.

Now, Steele has the fight of his life for the people he loves. I loved this. I don’t think I can stress that enough. The writing was superb, the plot was interesting, and the characters are what made it for me. I enjoyed this very much and I think other readers will as well.

Suspense, action and danger are all things you will find in VENGEANCE ROAD.

I don't have a whole lot to say about the couple in VENGEANCE ROAD. I liked them as a couple and I liked them individually. The sex scenes were intense and I felt their connection in their interactions. The addition of a child was nice as well.

I mentioned in my review for JUDGEMENT ROAD that there wasn't a lot of paranormal happening. It was the same for VENGEANCE ROAD. There are a few little things, but I would have loved to see more paranormal aspects incorporated into the story.

There were actually a few points where I felt like I might have missed something so I went to check out some of Feehan's backlist books and realized this is a spin-off. I was going to read the previous series, but then realized THAT was also a spin-off. lol. I might go back to the beginning in the future, but for now, I'm enjoying meeting the Torpedo Ink members and will continue to read future Torpedo Ink installments.

Christine Feehan’s Vengeance Road takes it up a notch with a grittier and suspenseful romance for the second book in the series. Breezy Simmons was born into a MC and now that she’s out, she never wants to return to it. When her old MC kidnaps her son, she has no choice but to contact the father, Steele. Steele is the VP for the Torpedo Ink MC and is surprised when Breezy seeks him out. When he finds out the reason she needed to find him he has even more incentive to right the horrible wrong and make her his again.

The whole story was heading in one direction of recovering their son and finding their way back to one another. But there was a lot of fears to overcome and they weren’t the same people they were 3 years ago. Breezy has become and independent self-reliant woman since she’s been on her own. She fears for her son’s life and hers as well and never wants to be part of the biker culture again. Steele needs Torpedo Ink to feel whole and have the support of his fellow bikers since they grew up within those assassin training schools. He’s got to make her understand that he needs both Torpedo Ink and her in his life to feel whole again. That is the crux of the story and it was hard for either one to make concessions in order to be together.

The one thing that was holding them together was their love. You can feel that they still had an attraction for each and as much as they knew they had obstacles to fix, they couldn’t deny the physical chemistry they have together. Through compromise and perseverance, they find their son and brutally destroyed the kidnappers. The scenes of torture and murder were pretty gruesome but necessary to understand these men and women there were made to be. Vengeance Road lives up to its name from beginning to end and was wonderfully written.

Christine Feehan has created a vast group of broken individuals who are trying hard to fit into normal society and their backstories have been heartbreaking to read. I love how she can take a complex individual and show such diversity in one individual. Steele may have a monster inside of him but he also has a softer side and be a caring individual to Breezy, his son Zane and the men and women of Torpedo Ink. Steele is a complicated individual and his past still impacts a great deal on his present behavior. Confronting his past and PTSD was a huge step in making their relationship work and how the author brought it all out was nicely done. Breezy herself had to learn to trust Steele will protect her and do what is right for them. Breezy’s adamant refusal to go back to the lifestyle might have been repetitive in the beginning but the story picked up and resolved with a happy ending. Torpedo Ink has become one of my favorite series to read and I look forward to reading future stories

This book is action-packed with steamy sex scenes (as usual) with a plot that was fast-paced and filled with drama and a cast of supporting characters that make want to read more in this series. There are difficult scenes of child abuse which are sometimes difficult to get through, but also integral to the story.

VENGEANCE ROAD is at times heartbreaking, to think that the world is this messed up but then seeing the survivors of the worst make the best lives possible, gives hope.

In this emotionally charged offering, author Christine Feehan gives us a deeper look into the personalities of the club, or in this case, really you need to call them family members. These tortured beings are learning to live and with each book, we get to see their real personalities come alive as they learn to assimilate into what is considered acceptable behavior. None of the Torpedo Ink members will ever be "normal" but their brand of right should be good enough for anyone. VENGEANCE ROAD is going on my "read again" shelf along with all the others by this phenomenal author.

Second in the Torpedo Ink series, this book tells the story of Steele, the VP and doctor for the Torpedo Ink motorcycle club and his woman, Breezy. Steele and the other members of this very unusual group are family in a way that goes beyond blood ties. As youths, they have survived hell together and now are on a mission to save children who have been trafficked to pedophiles and sadistic, evil torturers. Three years before, Steele forced the woman who meant the world to him to leave in a very cruel and devastating way. Breezy Simmons had grown up in a very nasty, brutal MC with a father who used and abused her to the extreme. The last thing she wants to do is seek help from the man who broke her heart so callously. Breezy desperately needs his assistance; she is willing to sacrifice all for a reason that leaves Steele stunned and reeling.

Despite what Steele told Breezy, he has never stopped loving her so when the opportunity arises, he is determined that she will be his woman again. Because Steele and his motorcycle club family have lived through unimaginable brutality, he has no clue how to have a real, healthy relationship. Breezy is determined to protect her heart though she knows being near this man will test all of her willpower to resist him. The situation is fraught with emotional triggers for both Steele and Breezy while they and Torpedo Ink deal with her desperate cause.

The world introduced in the first book contains much about a Russian orphanage with child abuse in a particularly heinous and unimaginable manner. This story continues more concerning that background and with detailed descriptions of all that Steele and the others suffered. For some readers, this may go too far to the dark side. Also difficult to read is the level and type of violence meted out to the club Breezy grew up in; they are the cause for her current dire situation. In one regard, this story can be seen as two people rising above the worst possible start in life to become a sort of dark angel saviors. However, women in this world continue to be treated mostly as chattel even though the Torpedo Ink club has two female fully patched members which is very unusual. In some ways, this story is a cautionary tale not to romanticize motorcycle clubs too much juxtaposed with the passion of Breezy and Steele’s story showing that two much damaged people can heal each other with a strong and deeply abiding love. The level and depth of the description of the abuse and violence is the only real negative in this book for me.

Vengeance Road was a solid mc romance. I will say there was a lot of backstory right up front, a lot of characers i troduced, and a lot of conflict from all sides. It made for a slow start, but I enjoyed the chemistry between Breezy and Steele.

3 stars!

Gah!! There is something about the Torpedo Ink crew that has me so addicted. I loved Breezy and Steele. Their love and devotion was truly beautiful! Their past was painful but seeing them reconnect was perfect. I loved them together and learning more and more about the club members and their life back in Russia was so riveting. I seriously can't wait for more!

After reading book one I needed to learn more about the lethal doctor, Steele and was obsessed with his love story with Breezy, his one true love he had to let go three year earlier. Their reconnection was absolutely amazing. Breezy was strong and fierce and the way Steele loved her was incredible. I love that they had hurdles they had to overcome but their love and Steele's brotherhood saw them through it. GAH I seriously can't wait for more! I hope we get Savage's book soon! 4.5 stars! ~Ratula

Christine Feehan once again brings readers into a wild ride with the men and women of Torpedo Ink MC. This is Steele's book. The second in the Torpedo Ink series, a series that actually begins with Bound together, from the Sea Haven series.
Breezy grew up in an abusive mc. She and Steele are together for a year before he cruelly sends her away. Three years later she needs his help big time. From the moment she renters his life he vows to get her back. It's a very rough road for them.
Anyone who read the first book in the series, or Bound together knows how brutal the Russian assassin school was to this group when they were small children. Each individual's story is heartbreaking. This is a group of people who have suffered abuse both physically and mentally. The subject matter can be tough for some readers to get through, but you are along for the ride with this club.
I have laughed with and cried for these characters. I really am enjoying how in each book Ms. Feehan is opening up the supporting characters allowing us to learn more about them as well as the main characters .
I love reading about this group of damaged people who do know how to love even if they think they can't. PTSD is a terrible condition to have to live with, and Ms. Feehan always shows her characters dark side and how they are trying to work through everything together.
Another amazing book from a favorite author, I can't wait for the next one!

I'm always a fan of Ms Feehan, whatever she writes. I enjoyed this book as well as the last in the series - but it's sort of a double edged sword. I largely thought Steele was a great (though damaged) lead. but some of the plot points did not endear him (or Breezy) to me. If he had always planned to get her back, had been 100% certain he'd find her again after sending her away - to the point where he bought and furnished an entire house for her - then why the fuck was he getting lackluster blowjobs from passarounds? What? Maybe a little more effort in finding your lady instead? She said she accepted his explanation and 1. I did not and 2. I sort of pity her that she did, and lost respect for both of them. At the point where you lose respect for your leading characters (plural) the rest of the story sort of gets less shiny and wonderful in my opinion. I still couldn't put it down, but I read with a bit of bated skepticism going on.
It was shortly after the blowjob excuses that I started to find the storyline really, really repetitive. I skipped many pages. Yes, your upbringing was traumatic. The details were repeated dozens of times. Yes, you sent her away and felt awful. Flog that dead horse. Yes, you're super close with your club. GOT IT.
It stopped being quite so repetitive at the point where they went in to rescue their son, but that just made me angry too - as a mother, I would the fuck NOT be wasting hours/days to retrieve my child from a madman - spent sexing and buying boots? Honestly, could you get a lady-boner while your child was most assuredly being beaten on or worse? No, you would not. Why were her holey boots a higher priority than SAVING A TODDLER?! And why was Steele more outraged at her father for punching her like 3 YEARS AGO when they were together than he was by the current kidnapping and abuse of his own baby??
However much I might disagree with their choices and timings, I was very much on board with the dominant, protective, MINE type of thing Steele had going on. I love Ms Feehans heroes. She can write a broody alpha man like no other, and that's why she's a must-read for me, always.
I'm looking forward to the next in the series... Savage? Ice and Storm? Maybe one of girls? Doesn't matter - I'm here for it. Thanks for the chance to review :)

If I wasn’t a fan of Christine Feehan, I would have been after reading Vengeance Road. Vengeance Road the 2nd installment in Christine Feehan new series Torpedo Ink, published under Berkley Publishing Group. If you haven’t read the first story in this series Judgement Road, then let me give you a little back story to help you see why I think this book was a must read.

Torpedo Ink is a Motorcycle Club made up of 18 men and women, who had survived a horrendous life and decided to band together to bring down the men and women who tortured them. The action begins, when Steele past came back to haunt him. He never forgot her, he never thought he would ever see her again after pushing her away those many years ago. But here she stood, and those old feelings are still strong, and he refuses to let her walk away twice. Breezy Simmons is her name, she was born into a ruthless MC and was happy to get out. However, the MC life refuses to see her depart. Now she must seek out the man that tore her world apart those many years ago.

Vengeance Road was fast-paced with an engaging plot. Full of secrets, intrigue, passion, and second chances.

Is it possible to love a couple but despise the hero a little? Ok, a lot. Steele is really not my cup of tea. He is a an uber anti-hero that I had difficulty getting behind. I understand his background and history and it is the foundation for his current behavior, but it is so over the top, that I have no room for sympathy. As a couple, Breezy and Steele are the most dysfunctionally perfect couple there is, so I can celebrate their relationship. The story that brings them back together is suspenseful and there is nothing like a really good comeuppance. That's what makes this story so satisfying for me.

If you're a Christine Feehan fan, you will get what you are looking for in Vengeance Road. It has all the elements that she is famous for: super alpha males and a hint of magical realism. The story begins with Breezy arriving to hand deliver a letter to Steele, and then hoping to make a quick escape. This part was a little thin---it does seem that once she "confirms" he's there, she could have figured out another way to get him that letter. It turns out that they were a couple years before, and Steele threw Breezy out not realizing she was pregnant. Now, her father and a rival MC have kidnapped her boy. She wants Steele to help her get him back.

I liked this, but it definitely required me to suspend A LOT of disbelief. In particular, the days before they actually go to rescue their son just seem emotionally off. Would Breezy really be able to forget her fear and terror for him? However, as I said, if you're a Christine Feehan fan, you'll just be able to roll with it.

Steele is a big personality and he really bosses her around. I honestly could have used a little more groveling from him. But I always want more groveling.

Vengeance Road by Christine Feehan is the 2nd book in her Torpedo Ink series. Just a brief refresher for this series: Blythe marrying Viktor (Czar) was the end of the Sea Haven series. Czar is the president of Torpedo Ink, and together with the men and women he brought with him to Sea Haven and Blythe, they have built their Torpedo Ink MC club in Casper, which is close to Sea Haven. Each of these members have suffered terrible abuse in their childhoods in Russia, being forced to all become lethal assassins; each still very much trying to find the light inside their darkness. They are all determined to protect each other, and also work secretly to save children they have become part of human trafficking, as well as pedophiles.

In Vengeance Road, we meet our heroine, Breezy (Bree) Simmons, who is desperate to find the man who broke her heart three years ago. She grew up in a MC club, being treated badly by her father and brother; and now three years after she left, the past has come back to rear its ugly head. Steele, our hero, is the Vice President of Torpedo Ink, and when he sees Breezy come to their club, leaving an envelope, he is determined to get her back, and this time keep her. He and his teammates, who are loyal to each other, find and bring Breezy back, and the information she brings alerts the whole team, especially Steele, as he has never stopped loving Bree, and now he has a son. A son who has been kidnapped by Bree’s evil father, who is leader of the local Swords MC.

Bree is desperate to get her son back, but she is a mess, since she wants nothing to do with MC gangs. Steele, at first angry about her not telling him about their son, knows that it was his fault that she left, since he was the one who pushed her away. He wanted to save her from the abuse she took from her father, and the Swords gang, but in doing so, realized he loved her and wanted her back.

What follows is an exciting adventure with Steele, Bree and the team working together to find their son, and eliminate the evil Swords. In a short time, especially with Steele determined to win Bree back, the romance between them rekindles and the chemistry is sizzling. Steele is very dominant, and unbending, but he begins to see that Bree is now a stronger person, and he eventually will confront his demons by telling her about his horrific childhood. Bree knows she still loves Steele, but is afraid to get back into the club life, even though she learns over time that Torpedo Ink is not like other clubs. They take care and protect their own, and work toward helping others who has suffered.

It is important to note that this is a very violent story, as well as being very exciting. The men of Torpedo Ink will do anything they can to find information to help find the boy, which means excessive torture; but we do know how much they suffered, and live with those dark memories. I love all the members of the Torpedo Ink family, including the female members(Lana & Alena), and the ladies who become part of them (Blythe, Anya and now Bree). The story does have a lot of sex scenes, as Bree and Steele were very steamy and great together .

Vengeance Road is a dark romantic story, that is also very emotional, as we continue to learn through the eyes of the members what they had to endure in Russia. I look forward to future books in this series, where we will get to meet the other members of the team, as they find their way out of the darkness to the light of love. Despite the dark violent story, Vengeance Road was a great read, exciting, sexy, with a fabulous group of secondary characters.
