I wanted to like this book more than I did but it largely wound up being a bit of a dud. It definitely could have used more action and a bit of a more interesting plot.

I’m so happy I decided to give this series a second chance, because this book was everything I expected the first one to be, and more!

After complaining that the first book was a bit boring, Jill Ramsower definitely stepped up her game because this was the total opposite and kept me entertained the entire time.
Becca finally became a badass, Lochlan got me swooning and their chemistry was super intense.
I still loved the Arthurean and historical references, and I can’t wait to continue this story in the third book.

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I read the first book in this duet. This book has a bit of a better pacing then the first one, but the first one did a lot of setting the scene for the world and the background. I really like Becca and all the things that she discovers about herself. Becca is with Lochlan since she found out somethings about Ronan. This is the conclusion to the duet, but there are other books coming in the same universe. Looking forward to those.

Jill has done it again! While I understand an authors intent to keep a book series short and sweet, I wish there was more!

The story was well written, the characters well developed and the worlds masterfully built. I just wish I could get more of Rebecca, Ashley and the Wild Hunt gang.

Can I just say I appreciate the fact that we weren't left waiting in suspense for long to conclude this story? And that it didn't build and build? That Jill Ramsower came with a story to tell, and once she finished, she FINISHED. She didn't tease out open possibilities, leaving breadcrumbs that could snowball into a third installment. She gave a satisfying conclusion to the story in her mind, and for that, I am beyond grateful.

Not to say I wouldn't mind a third installment. But I feel fairly certain the Big Bad of Twilight Siege has been handled, so we won't be suckered into a Gotcha! moment where we learn that the Big Bad is back and that the time and events culminating in their supposed defeat were pointless. If she wanted to throw her characters up against another evil, I'd be in line to read it.

Once again, Ramsower does a fantastic job with, well, the fantastical. We see more world-building in this conclusion of Rebecca's story. The glamour she portrays is breathtaking, and personally, left me with the same sense of fascination as when Harry's little boat draws him to the majestic Hogwarts castle for the first time. Simply stunning.

I was a tad disappointed though in the core relationship of the novel. Rebecca and Lachlan, once again, felt like they were together because that's what every popular story right now has: a romance narrative. And, surprisingly, I once again felt like Ronan was the most complex character in the story. I understood his motivations, I knew what was at stake for him, personally, and while it wasn't something I empathized with, I still got it. Rebecca's selfless tendency to throw herself into the center of this conflict still just felt a tad odd. And her fascination with Lachlan, this brooding, dark and aloof Bryonic hero was equally baffling. Not enough to be problematic, but just enough to leave me dissatisfied.

Another slight disappointment was the final battle. I expected major consequences. We are, after all, talking about the fate of multiple realms, a clash of light and darkness, good and evil. But this massive boom I expected to erupt (especially once we learn this clash has been building for a good long while) just fizzled. Nothing really changed. Nothing was altered. I felt it sort of whimpered anticlimactically, and though I'm not sure, I wondered if it was because Ramsower wanted to use kiddie gloves when doling out the fates of her characters. I get that its hard to cause suffering and hurt to what we love (again, Ronan, as the most complex character in my mind, grappled with these the most) but when you build up to something brutal and violent, I expect brutal and violent repercussions. War is messy. The after should be just as messy too.

Again, those, these are just small blips in the big picture. Overall, I enjoyed it. It was gritty and fantastical, dark and hopeful all at once. Ramsower has another excited reader if she takes on a new project!

It was an exciting sequel and a wrapped up nicely. It was very intense and fierce. Was very happy Rebecca and Lochan got their HEA. Rebecca is strong and fierce, even without her necklace. She travels to the Shadowlands to find Fen and train. She gets a great friendship with Fen. Also, Ashley is back in the book again. Loved the connection between Rebecca and Lochan. The second book was quick paced and well accomplished. The series was wrapped up perfectly.

Twilight Seige was an exciting sequel.I loved the first installment of this duet and this one was as intense and spell binding as the first one. I thoroughly enjoyed all of the characters that are involved throughout this duet. The plot definitely thickened in this book . Becca is one strong and fierce character. She’s won’t be the damsel in distress and is willing to do anything to keep the people around her safe. The events surrounding her are even more intense this time around and she needs to learn about her powers and control them to defeat Morgan and save her world. She travels with Lochlan to the Shadowlands as the only person who can teach her about her powers is Fen whose been banished to the shadowlands. Her friendship with Fen grows over the course of their training. I loved the connection between Lochlan and Becca. We also got to see Ashley back in this book not under the best circumstances but she has her best friend with her. I was happy with the conclusion to the story. Overall, it was a fun read and I can’t wait to read anything Jill Ramsower puts out. I couldn’t put it down and I’ll recommend it to anyone who loves the Fae!

After finishing Shadow Play, I immediately started on Twilight Siege. Because I really wanted to know what was happening with Rebecca and see how the story would unfold. The pace is still high and you keep turning the pages to see what will happen next. Who can you trust, and who not?
And will the brooding Lochlan and Rebecca get together? Or will he keep her at bay? When they have to travel through Faery together, how will they survive?
Will they get a happy ending? Or will the fairy world come crashing down on earth? Find out for yourself in this wonderful second part of the Fae Games. Four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

Twilight Siege is an excellent book, and I couldn’t put it down. It is the second book in the series that follows Rebecca, a 20-something girl who moved to Ireland to follow her dreams, and her world changed dramatically. She found out that a necklace given to her as a child is turning her fae, and her powers are unlike anything ever seen. She must learn to use her powers quickly in order to save the world from an invasion that humanity would be powerless to stop.
The book is well-written, with intrigue and slow-burn romance. I love the way it mixes history, mysticism and many different legends from various cultures with “real” life. It makes the story interesting in a way that many fae novels are not. The characters have true flaws and feel real. The best part is event when they acknowledge their flaws, they don’t magically go away. The character struggles with it throughout the series. Even the side characters have enough personality to make a reader care.
This book finishes the story the first book started. The character struggles feel real, and the romance feels very natural. Becca struggles with the change to herself and to her reality. It makes her re-think her values and learn that there are reasons people do things beyond what is obvious. This helped build the world and the characters into people you can care about. I really hope there are more stories in this world to tell, as I thoroughly enjoyed both books. I will be looking for more from this author in the future.

Rebecca's whole world has changed, and now it's up to her to save that world. As the threat of Morgan's Shadow invasion of Earth looms nearer, Rebecca must learn what it means to wield both light and dark magic, while learning what it even means to be Fae.

This sequel and conclusion to the Fae Games duet is similar to book one, in that it has a rich spread of obscure fantasy creatures, and a couple of very decent characters. The use of Celtic myth was very fun, and the various settings were interesting and inventive.

However, in my opinion the prose was fairly flat, and I had a difficult time entering into the story deeper than a basic level. I personally don't appreciate the swerve a lot of modern YA has taken into sexual territory, and this book is certainly no exception. The sex throughout this book felt not only unnecessary to the romantic plot line, it also came across as fairly cheap and 'harlequin romance' at times, and in my opinion devalued the characters.

That being said, I did enjoy this story overall, and would be happy to hear more from Jill Ramsower in the future.

For me, i think there are better fae stories out there. Too much lust.
Author should have minimized sex scenes. And instead add in more action sequence.

Rebecca has to come to terms with the understanding that her life is not normal. even by fae standards. This the conclusion to this two part series is written with a quick pace , plenty of twists and well crafted action. Both books have to be read in order, but well worth it as the story had me engrossed to the end.

I liked the conclusion to this series and it was a fun, fast paced, fae read. I loved getting to learn more about Becca and Lochlan and was pleased with how the series ended.

I loved this story even more than the first ! It went into so much detail about the different realms and we learned so much more about Rebecca and her new found Fae status as well as her new abilities. I loved how she was the first of her kind and how she defected Morgan le fay ! A truly amazing book that any fan of science fiction, fae and different realms will fall in love with ! I must also comment of the adult content throughout both books I loved how it was snuck in their with just the right amount of erotica ! One of a kind !
