She’s out to save the town
from a real-life Scrooge…

The small town of Miller’s Point is known across the country for their annual Dickensian Christmas festival. When the festival is threatened by Clark Woodward, a miserly, big-city businessman, Kate Buckner steps up to save her hometown, their traditions, and her favorite holiday. But, along the way, she realizes that the man she’s trying to protect her town from might need some rescuing of his own.
With a lot of heart and a little Christmas magic, Kate is convinced she can teach Clark to love her favorite holiday. But can such different people learn to open up and love each other?

I loved this light and fluffy read! I love Christmas stories and this one is no different.

I received a complimentary copy of this e-book ARC from the author, Hallmark Publishing and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I love to read cozy romantic novels that make you think they would be perfect as a hallmark movie.

The Christmas Company does not disappoint. It has all of the ingredients for that perfect story. It has a small town, a Dicken's Christmas festival, and a bit of romance. You will fall in love with the characters and will ask for more when you reach the end. It even includes a recipe for Sweet Potato Biscuits with Country Ham, yummy.

There's just something magical about these sweet Hallmark Christmas stories. I loved Kate and Clark, and the story left me wanting to hang twinkle lights and garland. The recipe in the book sounds amazing too. I'm not much of a cook, but I may have to give it a try.

I love small town Christmas stories. Miller Point is known for it's annual Dickensian Christmas festival. The whole town becomes old London and A Christmas Carol takes place nightly around town. When Clark Woodward takes over his grandfather's business upon his death, he closes down The Christmas Company because it doesn't make his company any money. Enter Kate Buckner, the heart and soul of Miller Point. She plans to show Clark that The Christmas Company does so much more than make money. This was a fun take on A Christmas Carol. Of course Clark is the real life scrooge and Kate plans on showing him what a real Christmas is like. There is a lot of sneaking around to get things set up, but of course, Clark gradually realizes that Christmas can be a wonderful time of year. Clark has a lot of baggage that he gradually shared with Kate, and she does the same with him. As they get to know each other, they develop feelings toward one another and of course you know there will eventually be a happy ever after. There are several bumps along the road, but I really enjoyed this uplifting story of new beginnings, romance and Christmas magic.

The Christmas Company was such a sweet, cute and enjoyable book full of Christmas atmosphere and magic. I enjoyed it very much, especially the vibes of Victorian England. This was a bit like Hallmark retelling of Christmas Carol in modern setting.

If you like Christmas Carol or Hallmark Christmas movies or just beautiful romance books then this one is definitely perfect for you. I recommend it as a wonderful Christmas read for anyone who loves Christmas and romance.

However, it's super insta-love, as the main characters fall in love just in one day. Also, I would have wanted an epilogue. But still the story was entertaining and felt Christmasy, which was what I wanted, so I gave it 4 stars.

This was so cute! It was very reminiscent of a Hallmark movie, which I can't get enough of.. You really feel the magic of Christmas, that's exactly what I want in a Christmas read.

I like A Christmas Carol and I enjoy the many different adaptations, though it can easily fall into the over-done and too predictable categories. I thought this story brought a fresher modern take on the Scrooge story.

I'd recommend this for any lovers of Hallmark movies and Christmas stories.

Like a Hallmark movie on the page, THE CHRISTMAS COMPANY by Alys Murray is a sweet romance that really brings the magic of Christmas to life.

To Kate Buckner, the town of Miller Point and its inhabitants is the family that she never had, and working for The Christmas Company which runs the annual Dickensian Christmas festival is everything she dreamed of as a child. So when Kate and the town discover that The Christmas Company is being shut down effective immediately and that a lot of families are going to be struggling because of this, Kate is not willing to take it lying down. She wants to be angry at the cause of all of their problems, Clark Woodward, but as she spends a little time with him, Kate recognises a lost man who has buried his emotions deep inside. If only Kate could show him how important Christmas is for this town, then maybe he would allow them to keep their festival. So Kate decides, with the help of her friends, to make Clark love Christmas again but what she doesn't expect is to feel a hitch in her heart when he is around her. Can the magic of the season bring these two souls together or will the magic be lost on someone who has left Christmas in his past?

THE CHRISTMAS COMPANY by Alys Murray puts the sweet into sweetheart romance and sometimes that is just what you need. The characters have had their own troubled pasts but have dealt with their heartache in very different ways. The setting and the whole Dickens vibe worked well for me as I am a huge fan of A Christmas Carol so I could picture it all perfectly as I read each page. Overall, THE CHRISTMAS COMPANY by Alys Murray is a delightful read that is sure to be a huge hit with Hallmark fans everywhere.

For years, a small Texas town has transformed between Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Christmas Festival, funded by a wealthy benefactor, draws hordrs of tourists every year.

Sadly, the benefactor has passed away. His nephew and only heir, a miserly Ebenezer Scrooge come to life, has come to cancel the festival.

Can Kate, with the help of the townspeople, convince this miserly, miserable man that people are more important than money?

I loved this story and would recommend it to any lover of Christmas fiction. Appropriate for any age, it would also make a great stocking stuffer.

In the interest of full disclosure, I received a free digital copy of this title to review from Net Galley.

"The Christmas Company" retells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge in a modern day format. Although this might seem like an overused theme, this story comes across with warmth and humor. The plot moves along at a good pace, and the characters seem realistic. Readers who treasure the Dickensian Christmas idea will enjoy this story. I hope it becomes a Hallmark film, as I could imagine the scenes in my mind. I enjoyed this story as a new holiday read.

The Christmas Company is the first book by new author Alys Murray. The Woodward Company has owned ranches surrounding the small town of Miller’s Point for some time. The company has been a good steward for the ranch-land as well as kind donor to the town. One of the investments made to the community is the Christmas Company, run as a year round organization to put on a two month holiday festival. Miss Caroline is in charge, but young Kate Buckner is the second in charge for the planning and orchestration of the event. Kate is also the team member who takes her responsibility most to heart.

Clark Woodward is the new owner and CEO of the Woodward Company. His uncle recently passed away, leaving him in the leadership position of the family company. In evaluating the needs to break even and advance, Clark has come to the decision that one big cost the company can eliminate is the Christmas Company. A few days before Christmas, Clark comes to Miller’s Point to shut the Christmas Company down. The townspeople are disappointed and worried about their futures. Miss Caroline knows not what to do, but Kate is not taking this lying down.

When she accosts Clark after the brief meeting, her anger wanes as she picks up something in Clark’s character that makes her sensitive to his pain. It is then that Kate begins to formulate her plan to save both the Christmas Company and this young man.

Pulling the town together to orchestrate putting Christmas in Clark’s heart becomes Kate’s focus, but, as plans often do, things don’t necessarily go as planned.

What a lovely holiday story! With shades of A Christmas Carol and elements of The Little Matchgirl, this story will delight those looking for a heartwarming Christmas tale. I very much enjoyed this story and do recommend it!

Oh what an absolutely wonderful and heartwarming story this was to read! I'm a Christmas addict like the heroine of the story is and have always believed that everyone should carry that Christmas feeling all year long and no one should ever be alone at Christmas.

When Clark Woodward arrives at Miller's Point and announces that the yearly Dickensian Christmas festival is no more, he doesn't know what hits him when Kate Buckner confronts him! While she believes in everything Christmas, he doesn't believe in it at all and it's up to her to show him what he's missing, as well as telling him that no one should ever be alone at Christmas. I loved the traditions throughout the story, the warmth of the people in the little town, as well as the blossoming romance between Clark and Kate, with some heartache and misunderstandings added in!

I received an ARC of this book via NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Alys Murray has captured Christmas in the pages of this delightful holiday season themed jaunt. It's a fast read, focused on a charming woman's (Kate Bruckner) quest to save the holiday festival that she and her town hold dear. Let go from her job at the aptly named Christmas Company, Kate tries to convince the curmudgeonly owner that the value of the festival is far from monetary.

4.5 star review of  The Christmas Company by Alys Murray

Christmas, it’s the most magical time of the year and my favourite holiday. Alys Murray is a new author to me and I loved the sound of The Christmas Company. Miller’s Point,Texas sounds like a beautiful place to live and I found this story to be full of hope, love and family; of strength and determination and all in all a heart warming Christmas read.

Kate Buckner loves Christmas. Every year, Miller’s Point hosts a Dickensian Christmas festival. This year the new CEO of Woodward Enterprises, Clark Woodward decides he will not be funding the festival. Kate is not prepared to watch the spirit of Christmas be destroyed and is determined to show Clark the joy of Christmas.

I really loved Kate, her sass and feisty determination not to give up was one I could easily relate to.

Can the magic of the Christmas season bring together two people who are miles apart in their beliefs?

All the characters were well written and I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the people of Miller’s Point

I received a copy of this book through the publisher via Netgalley.

A great Christmas novel
The debut novel "The Christmas Company" by Alys Murray has been published by Hallmark Publishing. In Texas Kate Bruckner is trying with all her strength to save the Miller's Point Christmas Festival that last from the day after Thanksgiving until New Year's Eve. She has just been fired from her position at the Christmas company as many other in this town that is struggling financially. Clark Woodward whose company was paying the bills for the Christmas Festival considers it a waste of money. This is his reason to terminate it. Kate's goal is to get the ruined Christmas back and to convince Cark of the value of the festival and of Christmas. Will she succeed in spite of a lot of obstacles?
"The Christmas Company" is a heartwarming clean and wholesome romance although it touches also the topics of alcohol abuse and of death. It is an enjoyable read, not only for Christmas. It is also strong on the topics of friendship and relationships. I read the novel in one day and I am looking for more novels by this author. I highly recommend this book to all those who like this type of romance novels.
The complimentary copy of this book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley free of charge. I was under no obligation to offer a positive review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
