A Timeless Christmas by Alexis Stanton. This Christmas Story was totally different from most Christmas stories I have read this story about time travel. If you love time travel and Christmas stories you will love this story.

I had an amazing time reading this Christmas romance. I had already enjoyed a previous Hallmark time travel romance called Journey back to Christmas, and I believe there is something very alluring and greatly entertaining about time travel impossible love stories. I especially loved reading about Charles’s discovery of our modern society, the contrast was great fun. I thought Megan was an easily relatable character. I liked how she took Charles under her wing and how their romance blossomed overtime.

Graced with a gorgeous cover, A timeless Christmas is a truly enchanting story with all the magical ingredients of a feel-good festive read. A heartwarming romance between two people from two different centuries (a kind of romantic storyline that is quite popular, especially with series like Outlander, right?).

Highly, warmly recommended!

I liked the premise for this story and the mansion location. I loved that it was set at Christmastime, when we can more readily accept a magical element. And I appreciated that this novel was published by a company that produces wholesome entertainment.

I was willing to suspend disbelief as I began this time-travel romance. But then there were some issues with the writing quality, especially the plot and the characterization. The hero too easily resigns himself to remaining in the future, which felt contrived for the sake of story. He doesn’t immediately try to get back, which would have been a logical longing (and goal) for him to have. Also, he’s selfish and unlikable. He doesn’t do anything noble, doesn’t take any steps in the first few chapters to help someone else or even consider someone else. I didn’t find him layered enough to see him as real or sympathetic. He came across as whiny and smug. Those elements would have been excusable if he’d been noble for even one moment in those opening chapters. Readers get that a character can be a mess in the beginning, and we hope for a satisfying character arc, showing how s/he changes. But we need one redeemable quality to help us care what happens to him/her so we keep reading.

So, I focused on the heroine’s journey. But her story line felt contrived as well. She too readily accepts his presence. She comes across as juvenile. I found her introspection telling, which meant I didn’t feel the emotions she felt. She wasn’t layered, so I couldn’t bond with her or relate with her. It felt contrived that she explained some elements of this future world to him, but not others. This read as author oversight. It’s logical that the hero would wonder about everything, rather than accepting most of it. The heroine believes he’s an actor, and she’s playing along. That premise wasn’t always adhered to, which felt contrived as well.

The premise here was promising, but the story didn’t hold my interest. I wanted to lose myself in it, but between the characters and the inexperienced writing, I couldn’t.

All that said, I wish this author and publisher well. I’ll definitely try other books in the future as I enjoy Hallmark Christmas movies.

I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.

An Utterly Charming Christmas Story

This charming time-travel romance captured my attention from the opening line and held it until I reached the closing paragraph. A Timeless Christmas checks off so many of my favorite things, it’s hard to name them all. A heroine who needs to re-build her self-confidence following a bad break-up. A competitive, driven hero who is truly a fish out of water. A wonderful, adorable supporting cast. And a fabulous setting. Best of all, the story takes place at Christmas. All of that is enough to make A Timeless Christmas a story I’d want to read. Throw in author Alexis Stanton’s ability to make her characters spring to life on the page, and this story truly becomes “an enchanting time travel romance.”

Many thanks to NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for providing an arc of this book. This review is my honest opinion of the book.

A quick and easy read for Christmas. Megan loves working as a tour guide in a local mansion, when suddenly the original owner, from 1902, appears. Charles has no idea where or when he is, and cannot figure out why there are strangers in his house. She has a PhD in History, and he was/is an inventor and tinker, so the concepts work. At times though, when confronted when something new, like pizza, it just seems a little forced. Also, whether he goes back or stays in the present could have been done with a bit more detail. While there are a few areas I felt could have been more detailed, overall I did enjoy the concept and characters, and would recommend this book.

Megan, history buff and tour guide at a historic mansion is happy to spend the holidays living in the past. She’s surprised when early in the book she discovers that mansion’s original owner, Charles Whitley, shows up in the present day in the middle of a tour. Can Charles go back? Will Megan and the lure of the future and all itholds keep him tethered to life in the present day?

A Timeless Christmas is romantic, sweet and provides a really fun look at what someone who existed 100 years ago might think of our world today. I’m not usually a fan of time travel, but this story was so compelling I couldn’t stop reading it and cheered the ending for the last ten pages. If you are looking for a fun happy read for the holiday season, I would definitely suggest that you pick up a copy of this book!

P.S. Don’t miss the delicious recipe for stuffed crust pizza at the end of the book!

I absolutely loved this book. Not normally a fan of time travel books but truly enjoyed A Timeless Christmas. I received an arc from Netgalley and this is my unbiased review.

This is a delightful time travel book. In this adventure, Charles Whitley finds himself mysteriously in the future in his own home, which is now a museum. He comes to terms with the fact that he is in the future and is amazed at all the changes in technology. In his time, he was an inventor. So today's gadgets fascinate him. As he learns more of his history (that he hasn't lived yet in his original time), he becomes more convinced that he must find a way back to his time to right wrongs he believes have been committed. But the more he stays in the new century, the more he falls in love with one of the docents who conducts tours of his home.

This story does not go back and forth between present and past like many time travel books. I enjoyed that aspect. All through the book, you wonder if he will be successful in returning to his time period. You'll cheer for Megan, his current love, and hope that she can convince him to stay with her. The book is well written and will keep your interest. Will he stay or will he go? Only at Christmas will you find the answer. This book is marketed at a "Christmas" book but will be enjoyed any time of the year.

A time travelling story of love. The two main characters Megan & Charles meet in Charles mansion, she lives in the present, he has travelled from the past.. A simple story of falling in love and the fun and excitement of explaining the future to Charles. Charles has a fiancé in the past and wants to go back so she doesn’t marry his arch rival. But he has feelings for Megan, she doesn’t want him to go and there ensues a tale of explaining how they feel but each agreeing on what Is best for Charles. The other characters in this book are very accepting of Charles true identity and help him in his quest to go back. Easy to read and enjoyable

Megan loves everything about the past, particularly the turn of the century, and as a reenactment actor at the Whitley-Moran Mansion Museum, she guides visitors through the stately home, answering questions and sharing her tiny little secret: she’s got a crush on the home’s first owner and builder, inventor and steel magnate Charles Whitley, who disappeared without a trace one night in 1902. Finally with her PhD in history, her goal is to teach at the local university, but her application is delayed as she waits for a letter of recommendation promised yet not delivered. But, everyone is gearing up for the holidays and the big party held at the mansion, hoping to see an uptick in both visitors and buzz. Yet all is not smooth, Megan’s former boyfriend and fellow reenactor is demanding a raise and more attention, with funds tight – he walks off leaving them stranded. The ensuing shuffle to decide who is playing whom brings the small staff into chaos, made even more confusing and curious when Megan, on her last tour for the evening, encounters the Charles Whitley in his study, and the interactions with this strange man go viral in seconds.

Charles Whitley is a self-made man, working his way up from laborer to owner and inventor, with several businesses and a fortune to his name. Whitley Manor was designed and built to his specific wishes, it is to be a wedding gift to his fiancé. Constantly on the move for new and better, engrossed in his work and the next innovation, he’s just returned from a trip to France, and is determined to unpack two boxes full of treasures and trinkets. Of particular interest is a mantlepiece clock, a pretty item without maker’s mark or solid provenance, his gift to his fiancé to make up for his lack of time spent with her. Noting the clock isn’t working, he decides to puzzle out the why, and is soon engrossed in the inner workings, until a spring flies free and he’s soon standing in his study, noting the Christmas decorations and strangers at the door.

Soon it is clear to all (with the help of an adorable daughter of one of the reenactors) that Charles is just who he claims, and that not only does he need help functioning in the new place, but that much of what passed after his disappearance is unknown to him. Perhaps here the mystery can be solved, for at least a handful of museum employees. Megan, drawn to Charles from her work becomes his unofficial tour guide to the 21st century, explaining technology, shopping and even infecting him with her own particular brand of Christmas spirit, showing him the future he never dreamed of, and providing insight into the true meaning of holiday spirit. It’s not one-sided however, as Charles’ words and confidence in each of them inspires them to move forward in their own lives. And with the ‘how to get back’ puzzle mostly sorted, and the missing spring from the clock found, it’s Christmas Eve and time for Charles to return to 1902, reclaim his life and push his rival, Moran, out of the picture.

Cleverly done, with a bit of all too convenient romantic set up, this is a happy ever after story with lots of joy and the feel of Christmas, and a touch of history tossed in for good measure. Each of the characters had something special to add to the story, and played a solid part in the changes that come to Charles, with their easy acceptance of him, the camaraderie of the staff at the museum and the predictable, but sweet ending.

I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review, all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Love Christmas books. Favorite time of the year. A Timeless Christmas is a new twist for Hallmark....time travel. Very well written and a deeper look back in time leading to a better person in the future. Very enjoyable!! Looking forward to see this book as a movie.

Cute cover and a fun premise for a time travel Christmas story.

Megan Turner is a history major who works at Whitley manor. She's kind of a little bit obsessed with Charles Whitley, the inventor extraordinaire and owner of the manor. The only problem? He lives in the past, or rather he did, until his mysterious disappearance right before Christmas. Now his home is preserved and run as a museum and Megan dresses up as his housekeeper to take guided tours through the home. She has a fun surprise waiting for her as during one of her tours, who should appear but THE Charles Whitley himself! Surprise!

I really am hoping that since this is a Hallmark book, it will also be a Hallmark movie. I think it would be great. I didn't fall in love with and connect with the book as much as I had hoped I would. I ended up skimming through most of it because it wasn't holding my attention. The dialogue and the characters just didn't create the connection that I normally love in a book. But I do think that there will be many readers who do enjoy this read.

Even though I did skim a lot of the book, I will say that the ending held my attention a lot more than I had thought it would with how the rest of the book and I connected. I will definitely be watching for a Hallmark movie of this story though.

Content: Clean. Some moments of peril but nothing graphic.

I received a copy from the publisher, Hallmark Publishing, via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions in the review are my own.

Happy Reading!!!

I easily feel into A Timeless Christmas just like stepping through a portal in time and loved every single moment of my time with Charles and Megan. I am definitely keeping fingers crossed that this one does come to life on film one day. The beauty of that cover and the sense of a moment out of time that it conveys to me only adds to the hope of seeing actors take over Megan and Charles’ roles one season soon.

Part of the draw of a Time Slip Romance for me is always the “what if” questions that run through my imagination. Would history be changed more by a person returning to their own time if it was indeed part of history that they arrived in another time period? As I’m reading those are the questions that are in my mind, and that feeling was very much in the forefront with A Timeless Christmas. Although I loved both Charles and Megan together, the moment in this story that sticks in my mind is the second that strangers invaded Charles’ study… in another time period… that gave me such a perfect sense of a jump in time allowing the rest to fall into place quite naturally.

I found myself quite swept away with A Timeless Christmas, between the beauty of the estate in it’s Christmas finery, the laughter at the different gadgets that Charles got to play around with, to the haunting love between Megan and Charles not knowing if their love would be stolen away from them or last together forever. The combination of those emotions made this a story that I will be re-reading next Christmas. And although it might not sound like much, putting a book on that ‘yearly Christmas books to read again list’ is a very high compliment from me.

If you love time travel, a taste of history, charming secondary characters and a couple that you will be hoping get to keep their happy ever after for always… then this is a story that you’ll want to pick up this Christmas season - and maybe read again next year.

That book was the perfect feel-good, heartwarming, high level escapism you can expect from Hallmark.
I loved the plot, the mix of romance and time travel, and the discovery of a new and exciting world by Charles.
A lovely book that I couldn't put it down as it was fun to read and enjoyable.
Highly recommended!

Unfortunately, this book did not hit the spot for me. I liked the premise, thought it had real potential, but it fell flat for me on a number of levels. The interactions between the characters were lukewarm. I didn't feel any spark, platonic or romantic, between any of the characters, and it felt like the author was reaching to make this a magical story. And then on top of the bland storyline, the hero is engaged and still kisses the heroine, knowing that this is the absolutely wrong thing to do. And she kisses him back! What *should* have been done, to keep this appropriate, was tell their family and friends that he was a friend who is engaged - that way, they wouldn't have pushed for the kiss under the mistletoe, As it was, they should have laughed and said no, and left the home. Peer pressure from family doesn't make the kiss okay. I was disappointed by their behavior. I think the story would have gone better had there not been a fiance, because with her in the background, I wasn't able to feel fully committed to the romance between Charles and Megan.

I thought the storyline was good and well written. This is an a time travel romance. The pages went smoothly and it has me hooked from the first chapter.
Thank you Hallmark Publishing via Netgalley for the copy of this book. This is my honest opinion and all the comments are my own.

Charles Whitely lived during the late 1800's-1900's. He rose from nothing to amass a great fortune as an inventor and entrepreneur. He built a grand mansion for his fiance. When he returns home from a trip abroad, and while tinkering with a clock he brought back from his travels, he experience's a life altering event.

Megan is a history buff. She earned her PhD in American History. She is currently working as a reenactment actor at the historic Whiteley-Moran mansion. The mansion has been preserved since the mysterious disappearance of Charles Whitely, in 1902. One day, while leading a tour group, she comes to Charles Whitely's study to find a man in the room. He looks familiar. As she soon finds out, he is the real Charles Whitely. He was transported from 1902. Megan and her small group of reenactors befriend him. Megan shows him the wonders of modern day life.

As they spend time together, their feelings for one another grow. But Charles must return to 1902. Charles has found that his fiance, Eliza, wound up marrying his nemesis and archrival, Mr Moran. Moran moved into Charles' mansion, married his fiance and took over the life that Charles worked so hard for. He can't allow that to happen. A plan is put into place to, hopefully, transport him back to 1902. But is what he is going back for in the past more important than what he has found in the future?

The characters were well developed and it was a sweet story. But too many important facts were not addressed. If he goes back to 1902, what will happen to history? The people that won't be born because Eliza doesn't marry Moran. The children that Whitely will now have with Eliza. The mansion that is a living part of history won't be for people to experience anymore... It is all this that made the book less enjoyable for me. I'm giving it 4 stars because it is a sweet and well written book. I think others will enjoy it.
