This is a pretty standard retelling of Anderson’s story of Thumbelina. She doesn’t appear to do anything differently than the original Thumbelina did, except, she does go home to visit her mother after she marries the fairy king, which is something I always thought should happen.

The pictures fare lovely, but there is nothing new here.

This story reminded me of my childhood when my parents read it to me. This was one of my favorites. I've read it right away and enjoyed the illustrations, and the story itself. Simply wonderful

This is one of the most beautifully illustrated children's books I have ever seen. It is truly a work of art with the muted pastels and expressive faces. I admit that I don't remember the full details of the classic Thumbelina fairy tale but this version is definitely worth checking out.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is a gorgeous book retelling the story of Thumbelina. The illustrations throughout are breathtakingly done in pastel colors. The images are whimsical and realistic and the retelling is very well done.

This is on the wordier side of Youth reads - the images are large and take up a lot of space but each page has a full paragraph of text as well. So it isn't a quick bedtime read but it is a great book if you have time to sit and read. If your child sits well this is a beautiful book to read to them. It has some good teaching points about being thoughtful and nice and how that can help you in the long run and about appreciating the beauty of the world around us.
