Was excited to read the next book in this series. I was late to the race to read this book so I am now playing catchup. So far the whole Brambleberry House series have been enjoyable reads and this book was no exception. It was a very heartwarming story. Grab this book, hit the beach and enjoy a HEA story that is delightful.

Returning home to Cannon Beach and living in Brambleberry House, a place where good things seemed destined to happen, had brought Melissa Fielding and her young daughter such joy. Perhaps it was no accident when the single mom “bumped” into Eli Sanderson, and discovered the handsome doctor was also back in town. The ex-soldier was still so captivating, but also more guarded. Was now the time to put old ghosts to rest?

I'm really enjoying this Brambleberry series! I was looking forward to A Soldiers Return. This is a very nice contemporary romance, made better for me due to the medical drama, and military themes. An emotional second chance love story, cute kids and dogs turned out to be a pretty solid combination, as well!

A copy was kindly provided by Harlequin Special Edition via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

As I've learned to expect, a beautifully written and fun read. Thayne writes wonderfully believable stories with flawed but truly good heroes and heroines

I absolutely loved this book. I cannot wait until the next one comes out. Brambleberry House is where love happens. Dr. Eli is filling in while his father has knee surgery, Melissa is the nurse for his dad's practice. They knew each other in high school. Can they renew their friendship?

I highly recommend this book.

Thank you Harlequin and Netgalley for allowing me to read this title for an honest review.

I liked this one, it was sweet and had a good message. However, the characters were a little bit flat to me. I wasn't as invested in the characters or the setting as I often am in Thayne's books. That being said, I love sweet stories, and plan to catch up on her previous books in this series.

This is part of the Harlequin Special Edition line and is book 4 in the Brambleberry House series. It is easily read as a stand alone story. Melissa and her young daughter have returned home to Cannon Beach after her divorce. She's a nurse working for Dr. Sanderson and living in Brambleberry House. When Dr. Sanderson needs knee replacement surgery his son, Dr. Eli Sanderson takes a leave from his military service and comes home to help out. Melissa and Eli become friends but he's suffering from a little guilt and PTSD, (getting to be pretty common line in military romances) and doesn't think he's worthy of love. A nice romance with good characters and a chance to catch up with other Brambleberry residents. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Melissa and Eli are about to get a little more personal than either planned on when the Doctor comes home to take over for his father while he recovers from knee surgery. Melissa is a great nurse, but all she wants to do is concentrate on her daughter and her job. While sparks are definitely flying, it seems that these two want very different things in life, and a little shared history isn't helping it get easier.

After reading A Soldier’s Return, it’s not at all hard to see why RaeAnne Thayne is such a huge reader favorite and an international best-selling author. Packed with humor, charm, heart, pathos and romance, A Soldier’s Return is a searingly emotion and compelling page-turner which will surely satisfy her legion of fans and win her lots of new readers.

Melissa Fielding’s life might not be perfect, but she knows that she is luckier than most people. She might be a divorced single parent with a demanding job, but living in the picturesque Cannon Beach and the beautiful Brambleberry House with her precocious seven year old daughter Skye suits her down to the ground. True, she wishes that there was someone special in her life – especially as her feckless ex-husband has just got married recently, but she would much rather focus on the positives and not let herself be bogged down by all the negatives. But when an accidental tumble brings her into close proximity with Dr. Eli Sanderson, Melissa cannot help but wonder whether her luck in the romance department might be about to change…

Eli is back in town after his father Wendell had to go in for knee surgery. Eli will be temporarily taking over his father’s medical practice while he recovers and the army doctor hopes that these couple of weeks will allow him to rest, recuperate, heal and figure out what he is going to do next with his life. Still haunted by the horrific atrocities he had witnessed on his tour of duty, the last thing Eli had been expecting was to fall head over heels in love, but Melissa is making him feel emotions which he hasn’t experienced in years.

As a teenager, Eli had a crush on Melissa, but as she had been crazy about the boy whom she had ended up marrying and divorcing, he thought he had absolutely no chance of their friendship developing into something deeper. But now that they are both free agents, will it be second time lucky for Eli and Melissa? Or are there simply too many obstacles standing in their way?

A Solider’s Return is a wonderful read that had me laughing out loud and reaching for the tissues in equal measures. Affecting, charming and simply irresistible, A Solider’s Return is a first class tale about healing from the past, starting over and finding the courage to fall in love again that I devoured in a single sitting. Melissa and Eli were brilliantly developed and their love story was emotional, mesmerizing and totally heartwarming.

A fantastic read from one of contemporary romance’s brightest stars, A Soldier’s Return is an unmissable read that deserves pride of place on your keeper shelf!

A sweet story. A soldier returns home to cover his father's medical practice. He meets his high school crush for the second time only now she is just as sweet as she was in school. They both have baggage from their past. Can two lost souls recover from past hurts to love again?

Melissa had enough - enough traipsing across the country - enough of being second to the ocean. Deciding to restart her life Melissa returned home with her daughter. Life was once again looking up - yeah Cody was still an absentee father but that was okay Melissa was happy and Skye was thriving. Things were good - until a morning jog brings her past barreling into her - quite literally I might add. Melissa knows Eli won't be staying and she has been down this road before - She has no intentions of letting her heart be broken once again.
Eli has always had eyes for Melissa but back then it was not meant to be and now that opportunity has presented once again - it can not be. The fact he will be her superior is only one of the many reasons. She has a daughter and he has a past.
This is a sweet romance that occasionally tugs at the heartstrings
Perfect for a winter indoors read - would go well with a fire and a glass of wine

I am learning to quickly like RaeAnne's writing style. I have only read a few of her books but I have not been disappointed yet! The only part that got to me was Melissa feeling sorry for herself so much, get over it! You aren't the only single mom out there. I loved her relationship with the doctor, giving Skye a grandfather figure. This was a pretty easy, quick read. Predictable, but not in a bad way. I recommend it!

A Soldier's Return is the fourth novel in The Women of Brambleberry House series, but it's the first book I've read in this series, and I didn't find myself lost or confused by not having read the previous three novels. While the warmth and quaint charm that have been the hallmarks of the novels I've read by Ms. Thayne thus far were present, this novel, although a pleasant read, didn't quite measure up to the other novels I've read in Ms. Thayne's Haven Point series, and for that reason I can only give it a 3-star rating.

A Soldier's Return is a fairly simple and straightforward story. The heroine is Melissa Fielding, who works as a nurse for a general practitioner, Dr. Wendall Sanderson, in Cannon Beach, her home town, having returned there with her 7-year old daughter, Skye, 7 months earlier. She divorced her husband, and high school sweetheart, Cody, a professional surfer, 3 years earlier, after years spent following him from beach to beach around the world, finding him a less than ideal husband and father, and although they share custody of their daughter, he usually misses not only his visitations with her, but some of his child support payments as well. For Melissa, the return to her home town, the friends she's made at work and at Brambleberry House make her feel like she's finally putting down some roots and is now where she was meant to be.

When Dr. Wendall Sanderson, Melissa's employer, needs a double knee replacement and time to go through rehab and recover, his son, Dr. Eli Sanderson, who has been serving in the military and working with Doctors Without Borders, caring for the sick and injured in the war-torn Middle East, returns home on a one-month leave to care for his father’s patients and keep his practice open. He saw some bad things during his 5 years in the military, and some of those things left deep emotional scars, but gave him the impetus to continue on with his important rescue efforts overseas.

When Melissa happens to meet Eli while jogging along the beach near her home, Eli recognizes her before she recognizes him. When Eli was a high school senior at age 18, and Melissa was 15, she was the pretty cheerleader he had a crush on, and he's just as attracted to her now as he was then, but during his time in Cannon Beach, Melissa will be his employee, making anything more than friendship somewhat problematic. Melissa also can't believe the changes in Eli, who was a tall, lanky, nerd back then, but who is now a handsome, well-built hunk. The attraction is mutual, but Melissa knows that Eli's stay in Cannon Beach is only temporary, or is it?

Unfortunately, I wasn't particularly drawn to either Melissa or Eli, and while both were likable enough, there wasn't a whole lot of depth or drama in their growing relationship, no real angst when Melissa's ex-husband decides to move about an hour away and spend several weekends with his daughter and his new, pregnant wife. In fact, there really wasn't much in the way of drama or angst anywhere in this novel, and, because I usually love the depth with which Ms. Thayne usually imbues her characters, I found these characters and this story to be rather flat and one-note, and very atypical of Ms. Thayne's usually excellent novels. A Solider's Return isn't a bad read, but it isn't a great one either, and I found it disappointing that neither of the main characters were particularly memorable, even with the HEA ending. Ms. Thayne is a far better writer than is evidenced in this novel.

What I very much liked was the lead-in to the next title in this series which appears in the Epilogue. It features a character we met in the 8th novel of the author's Haven Point series, and his appearance at the end of this novel makes me anxious to read more of his story in the next Brambleberry House novel.

I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.

After her divorce Melissa and her daughter returned to Cannon Beach to plant the roots that she desperately wanted after the constant moving around that happened during her marriage. She has developed a group of friends and has a good job at the medical clinic.

Eli is a military man who has returned to help out at his father’s clinic for a few weeks while he heals. He had a crush on Melissa when they were teenagers so he is enjoying reconnecting with her first when he rescues her on the beach and also working with her at the clinic.

Eli and Melissa share both a connection and chemistry but is there a compromise to be found when he is only in town for a short while and all she wants to do is stay. This is a sweet and sexy romance that doesn’t disappoint. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy.

A Soldier's Return by RaeAnne Thayne is the fourth book in the Brambleberry House series. Melissa is a single mother who worked hard to become a nurse. Eli is a war vet who happens to be a doctor. This is in a way a second chance for Melissa and Eli as they went to high school together. This book is so sweet and enduring. I absolutely loved it.
