While I enjoyed watching as Shawn started to grown up from kind of a jerk to starting to see that how his actions have hurt others and that he needs to find his purpose in life and not just sit on his girlfriends couch - this book really had me feeling my age as these two were just so young and new at living on their own.

Jessie is really uptight, and Shawn is more laid back so they actually work well for each other. He helps her relax and she shows him that he needs a purpose.

Nice HEA after Shawn's sister finally realizes that they were more than a fling!

What a cute cover! This is a yummy combination of the best friend’s brother and forced proximity tropes, along with the collision of a Peter Pan fuckboy and a control freak, post-it-loving over-achevier.

When Jessie’s BFF and roommate Talia goes to London for the summer, finding someone else to sublet their apartment in Brooklyn proves to be stressful, especially since Jessie is starting her new job as an assistant editor at a prestigious fantasy publisher soon. Luckily, Talia’s brother, Shawn, has just transferred to the Brooklyn branch of the brewery he works for, and he needs someplace to stay. Perfect, right? Well, back in high school, Jessie had a crush on Shawn, but after watching his date-em-and-dump-em antics break apart their friend circle, she knows he’s bad news. Unfortunately – or fortunately – that attraction is still there, and it’s obvious that Shawn returns it. Can Jessie and Shawn keep to their strictly platonic roommates deal, or will they both risk their relationship with Talia for a chance at a relationship with each other?

“She’d always taken it for granted that Shawn thought he was amazing—God’s gift to baseball, and girls, and their small-town school. But that was then. It sounded like Shawn wanted other things now.
It left her wondering what those things were.”

I liked Jessie a lot. She’s a girl after my own heart, who’s got her life all planned out and prefers to spend evenings in under a comfy blanket with a book. She’s landed her dream job and knows that she’ll have to work hard to impress her boss, but unfortunately work is all she thinks she has time for. In that regard, Shawn couldn’t be more her opposite. He’s aimless and, in the past, he hasn’t been willing to put the work in – for either his jobs or his relationships. He’s determined to turn over a new leaf with his move to NYC and his job as assistant brewer. You wouldn’t think that Jessie and Shawn were that similar, but as they interact, they find out they have more in common – they both are trying to prove themselves to bosses who think they can do it all, and they both need the balance in their life that the other provides.

It was all too familiar. If she substituted pages for barrels, it would be the same thing.
She raised her glass. “To being highly successful, competent, trustworthy, invaluable employees that our bosses don’t yet realize they can’t live without.”
He laughed and clinked glasses with her. “And to not setting anything on fire.” He paused. “Yet.”

It was so much fun watching them try to fight their initial attraction for each other, even as they slowly realized how much they had in common. They both have a great sense of humor, and their interactions were frequently hilarious. Normally, I’d say I’m not much of a fan of playboy heroes who are reformed by the love of that one special woman. But, Ms. Brooks did an amazing job with Shawn that I truly felt for him. He fully acknowledges his past selfishness as well, without placing the blame on his past girlfriends, and is just plain tired of drifting through life with no purpose or direction, irresponsible and not worth anything more than a temporary good time. While I love the “best friend’s brother/sister” trope, sometimes the backstory of why the couple shouldn’t be together is, well, weak. Not the case for this book! Even Shawn, in all his fuckboy glory, realizes he messed up by dating and dumping two of his sister’s best friends in high school, completely decimating her friend circle. The only friend who stuck with her was Jessie. It really upped the stakes for why the relationship was such a bad idea – not only does Jessie have evidence that Shawn’s a love-em-and-leave-em guy, and therefore likely nothing more than a distraction from her work, but it will also seriously hurt Talia to see her best friend follow their footsteps. So, you can probably guess exactly what happens, and while I was initially upset with what I saw as Talia’s overreaction, I think she more than made up for it.

Overall, I very much enjoyed this book, and I’m hoping it’ll be the first in the series. I definitely want to read Talia’s book!

Wrong bedroom turns out right!

Jessie Santana needs a temporary roommate while her roommate Talia, is touring Europe with her dance company because she couldn’t afford the rent by herself. Talia’s brother Shawn Lassiter needs a place to stay instead of couch surfing. Shawn gabs to opportunity without hearing from Jessie first when he gets to the apartment he ends up in the wrong bedroom. Talia told Shawn not to sleep with Jessie after he slept with Talia’s friends in high school.

Jessie’s dream was working in publishing and moving home would derail the dream. Shawn had always taken the easy way out with people and with work so his transferring to New York City to work for the brewery was a big step for him. Plus owning up to dating Jessie when Talia didn’t approve was a big step forward.

Wrong Bed, Right Roommate is a fun read where the reader cheers for Jessie and Shawn to make it and the epilogue brought the story to a perfect close.

When I came across this book, I had to read it because it has my favourite trope - girl falling for the best friend's brother. Who doesn't like that? I adore that theme and love reading the various paths the story takes at times.

Jessie has had a crush on Shawn during her teens and so now when she is forced to co-habit with him for a few days, she ends up falling for him harder. So does Shawn also fall for her or does he allow his playboy act to crush her heart? That forms the entirety of the story. The plot is pretty simple but the course the story had taken, put me through the wringer - overwhelming happiness and depressing sadness - echoing the protagonists' emotions closely.

Jessie and Shawn are the quintessential opposites-attract couple. While Jessie is a serious and driven person, Shawn is a casual and go-with-the-flow character. They balance each other out and hence form a great couple! I rooted for Shawn more than Jessie because he needed it more and he is pretty sensitive though he doesn't show it on the surface. Yes, he is hot and a stud, but I like his vulnerability more which adds to the believable aspect of his character. Jessie is a great friend, at times insecure, but she disappointed me with her actions in the crucial scene. You can definitely tell who is my favourite in this couple!

I started reading this book after a sweet romance so it felt kind of overdone with the heat factor. But if you love hot romance, this is definitely for you. I like a bit of sensitivity and so I was left dissatisfied with the plot at the start. While I enjoyed Shawn showing Jessie a good time, at times, it felt that they were too immersed in the sensuality. Only towards the end, the emotions and feelings came into play and turned around the story. I literally "awww"-ed when they got together finally. Though they are hot in their romance, they are pretty sweet as a couple.

The author's writing is pretty intuitive and easy to follow which makes for a fast read. So I literally cruised through the book which ended up on a pretty high note. All in all, it was a fun and sexy romance!

My one line review : A fun and sexy romance!

Jessie’s best friend and roommate was Talia and they live in NYC. Jessie was about to start her dream job at Honeywell Press. Her boss was Marlene Chen and she was to be Marlene’s Editorial Assistant. New York publishing was notoriously cutthroat. Jessie knew she had not been Marlene’s first choice. Marlene was one of the biggest Y A fantasy editor in the business. Talia was in London with a dance company and she just found out that the subleter had backed out. Jessie can’t afford the apartment by herself. Talia’s brother Shawn was two years older than Jessie. When they were in HS he had slept with two of Talia’s friend and she had lost these to friends as they had never talked to Talia again. It had been quite a week for Shawn with packing all his stuff and jumping on a plane and convincing Kevin to to trust him with a major promotion and hoping he wasn’t making another mistake with his life. Now he was going to take over his sisters room and be a roommate to Jessie. He was trying not to be the old Shawn . Shawn was here to show he could do this. He needed to get to Thunder Brewery tomorrow and be early so he could get the lay of the land before his shift started. All Shawn needed to do was lie low and focus on the brewery. Shawn accidently picked the wrong bedroom and ended up next to Jessie. He apologized as he crawled back over her, all he had on were boxers his thigh accidently hit hers and it felt like something zinged straight through Lainey. Something hard. And sharp, and hot, and jagged, but also rich, and soft, and warm all at once. Shawn had never even looked at Lainey when she was in H S. She was at their house a lot with Talia. Jessie wasn’t like Shawn - that was a good thing: she didn’t do whatever she wanted to do without thinking of anyone else, she didn’t lose one job after another, she didn’t move across country without warning. Jessie didn’t screw with everything that so much as breathed in her direction. She also didn’t show up at people’s apartments in the middle of the night. Let alone their bedroom. Shawn talked Jessie into going to the brewery with him. They ended up having sex that night but both agreed it was a mistake and wouldn’t happen again. But it did happen again.
I loved this book. It had just the right amount f everything I definitely have a new favorite romance novel. This was an easy sweet romantic read with just enough angst. I loved Jessie and Shawn together and how they interacted together and couldn’t seem to stop the journey they had accidently started on together. I loved Jessie and Talia’s relationship and how they had each other’s back. Also when Talia realized she was wrong about Shawn and Jessie she se out to do her best to help make things right. I didn’t want to put this down. I read it in one day. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend it.

for some inexplicable reason, i always enjoy a good wrong bed story. in wrong bed, right roommate jessie needs a subletter while her roommate, talia, is away from the summer. the one they'd found just bailed on her and even though she's just starting her dream job, she's not really able to afford new york rents on her own.

when talia's brother, shawn offers to take the subletter's place, it's the perfect solution. except, he has a bit of a reputation of sleeping with talia's friends and of being a screw-up who quits when things get too hard. jessie's super type-a, and isn't really interested in relying on someone so, well, unreliable.

when he accidentally ends up in her bed, they scare the crap out of each other. once their heart rates return to normal, they notice other things. like how sexy the other person is. her legs, his abs—both of them end up hot and bothered.

but is a summer of fun worth jeopardizing their relationship with talia? she'll be upset if shawn hooks up with yet another of her friends. and jessie knows that this is talia's no-go zone. but the attraction is hard to resist. and when those sparks lead to something more serious than just a summer of sex and fun, they both have to figure out how to fight to keep what they want.

i really enjoyed this story, and loved how both these characters became better version of themselves when they were together. they both struggle with a lot of doubt and insecurity, and how they overcome those things makes for a story with a little more emotional heft than you'd expect.

Wrong Bed, Right Roommate was an enjoyable read. That had likeable characters, great chemistry and a storyline that was not only sexy, charming, and entertaining. But well paced, easy to read and it had the perfect amount of angst and sweetness to keep me engaged throughout. And rooting for Jessie and Shawn to get their happy ever after.

Would happily recommend!

Fun, Delightful, Sexy, and Spicy .... Wrong Bed, Right Roommate is a terrific, light romance featuring Jessie. It starts off with tension as Jessie is laying awake worrying about finances because she just found out that the sub- letter for their apartment fell through. While her roommate and best friend, Talia is out of town for the dream of the lifetime in her dance career, Jessie is at home trying to calm down and not worry about how they are going to make the bills.

Meanwhile, Talia is still trying to come up with a last minute roommate when she suddenly has the idea to ask her brother, Shawn. Shawn says yes because he is sick and tired of the nasty bachelor pad that he is sharing with way too many other guys. Talia is not worried that Jessie will accidentally fall for Shawn because she knows that Jessie is immune to his charms...

Only Jessie is far from immune and eventually confesses her secret crush on Shawn from so many years ago when Shawn slept with two of Talia's closest friends only to dump them. Shawn is not necessarily a bad boy, but he has definitely lacked in ambition and goal setting. What would straight laced, organized, and career driven Jessie ever see in a hopeless drifter like Shawn? (Other than his hot body!)

I knew this book would get spicy quick because Jessie decided to relive some tension from all that worrying that night all on her own. (Guess what.... I was right!!) In addition to the sizzling intimacy scenes, author Rebecca Brooks manages to infuse her writing with just the write notes of humor and honesty. I love the interaction between Jessie and Shawn and how they influence each other in such positive ways. Just as I knew it would happen, bestie Talia shows up unannounced and throws a mad hissy fit in disapproval and betrayal when she learns that Jessie and Shawn have been sleeping together.

Will they find their way to their true feelings for each other and how could they consider having feelings knowing that they would hurt Talia so deeply? The adventures are fun and lively, the feelings seem genuine, and author Rebecca Brooks is definitely on my favorite authors list.

Thank you to NetGalley, Rebecca Brooks, and Entangled Publishing for the chance to read this ARC of Wrong Bed, Right Roommate. I so enjoyed it and all opinions expressed in this review are my own.

"Maybe she was out of control when she was with him. It was like striking a match and expecting it not to flame, thinking she could be near him and not feel this spark."

Jessie Santana can't stand her best friend's brother. She might have had a crush on him when she was younger, but he completely killed it with his careless attitude with her school friends, and his disregard of the effect he has on others with his slack ways. She's starting a dream job and could do without any distractions. However, when Shawn Lassiter ends up being her roommate for the summer, she finds herself acting out of character...and enjoying it.

"Are you afraid they might discover how sexy you are, Ms. Santana? I hate to break it to you, but your secret is out."

Shawn Lassiter is trying to get his life in order and steer himself in a positive direction that has a promising future. He can't afford any distractions. However, when his living predicament ends up helping out his sister, he takes it eagerly - never expecting to find himself living with a sexy roommate - not least his sister's best friend, who is strictly off-limits!

"Roommates didn't make her heart beat like that. Roommates didn't make her palms sweat and her mouth dry and her legs feel all shivery and weak."

This was a great story! Jessie and Shawn were opposite in nature. Jessie is something of a control freak and high achiever. Shawn likes to live life one day at a time, and deal with things as they come. However, the chemistry between them is amazing, undeniable and irresistible. I enjoyed how they each brought something out in the other, and made them feel less insecure about the negative things in each of their lives. I loved how their story played out and the device the author used to bring them back together.

I thought this was a cute, light read. Jessie has a crush on Shawn, her friend's brother. When he becomes her roommate, things take an unexpected turn.

Shawn isn't a "dating" type of guy. He is not really serious about anything in his life. So, he is in this thing with Jessie for a good time. He is not the boyfriend type of guy. He knows that his sister will get mad for sneaking around with Jessie.

Something about this was a win for me. I thought it was cute and loved Shawn and Jessie.

I liked this but some of it did feel kind of cliche, I didn't feel a spark between the two characters so sometimes it was hard to stay engaged in the story. I did like the plot though and their "meetcute" was both funny and cute.

Wrong Bed, Right Roommate by Rebecca Brooks
This book is a fun, steamy romance with such likable characters that the reader can’t wait for them to get their happily ever after. Jessie is nervous and excited to start her New York City dream job. Then, she finds out that her roommate Talia’s hot brother is going sublet Talia’s room for the summer. Jessie’s always had a crush on Shawn, but knows that he is off limits; Talia has already lost too many friends to her brother’s player ways. Besides, why would he be interested in a serious, bookish woman like Jessie?

Not only is it delightful to watch Jessie and Shawn’s feeling for each other blossom, but it’s great to see both of them discover their individual strengths. Neither one starts off with much self-confidence, but they push each other to see how much potential each one has. And, it's easy for them to see how hot and steamy they are together! Of course, there are some bumps and conflicts along the way, but Jessie and Shawn are characters that a reader wants to spend time with.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

The main attraction for this story came via the interesting blurb and the fabulous teaser, so I thought, “Why not give it a go?” I was very glad that I did, as this was a fun, melodramatic, right but wrong read that keeps the reader glued to the very last page.

The epitome of the, “Oh no, I can’t get involved with you because you’re my best friend’s brother” saga, and all the angst and drama that we undoubtedly expect. The storyline was somewhat predictable, and Shawn’s sister (Talia) was very easy to dislike. Overall, this was a good book and an easy read. I’m sure readers will thoroughly enjoy Jess and Shawn’s passage to love and the obstacles they faced along the way.

Wrong Bed, Right Roommate is the first book I read and finished for the New Year (2019). I'm glad I got a chance to read it because I love reading about characters that generally would not fall for each other. Both characters are the complete opposite of each other, which is one of many reasons why I enjoyed this book. The female character Jessie Santana is a neat-freak, well-organized, on-time person who doesn't like when things do not go as planned. Her best friend from high school and now her roommate is heading to London for a while, which means Jessie will need a roommate to help pay half the rent for their apartment in New York City. Jessie never expected her best friend Talia to suggest her brother as the temporary roommate. Shawn Lassiter was the popular sexy guy back in high school that she happened to have a crush on back in the day. Unfortunately, Shawn ended up with two of his sister's best friends and things went downhill then. Jessie needs to stay focused with her job and not end up being one of Shawn's conquests. Unfortunately, things will happen between the two that will make Jessie and Shawn not be able to stay away from each other.

I enjoyed Wrong Bed, Right Roommate for the main characters in the story. Jessie reminded me of myself being well-organized and having everything planned. I also felt connected with her, when she was stressed due to wanting to be perfect at work, etc. She also loved reading, which is another plus. She's the sweet always good girl in life. Although, she does change in the story, which will surprise everyone.

Shawn though is the complete opposite of Jessie, but I loved his personality too. He was turning himself around for what everyone thought he was in the beginning. He proved several times he was not like he was in high school. He knew how to charm in the story though, and he also knew how to take care of Jessie. :)

I won't go into details with the very steamy scenes between the characters, but WOW! I will say one of my favorite parts was when Shawn hinted to Jessie that her secret was not a secret. Gotta love the embarrassing moments.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this book. This happened to be the first book I've ever read from Rebecca Brooks. I've added her other books to my TBR pile on Goodreads though now too.

There was one thing that bothered me in the book, but it didn't stop me from reading it. I didn't like how a particular person reacted to what happened between the main characters. I think the person could've handled it better. Although, that character was back in my good graces towards the end of the story.

Will, I read the next book in the series? Yes, definitely. I hope Rebecca writes the secondary characters stories and who they will end up with accidentally, especially Talia.

I give this book 4-stars and recommend it to contemporary romance and even New Adult readers out there.

This was such a funny romantic book. Jessie is living in New York and sharing an apartment with her best friend Talia. Talia goes away for the summer and subleases her part of the apartment but the person backs out. Talia’s brother Shawn steps up and says he will lease it from her for the summer. The only problem is that Jessie has a crush on Shawn. I have to say the first time that Jessie finds out about Shawn taking over the lease is rather funny. I do have to say that even though in the beginning of the book there was definitely chemistry between these two I honestly do not think there was a lot of anything else. As I read the book it made me laugh and I have to say I really enjoyed watching Jessie and Shawn change and watch how their relationship developed.. They both started to grow up and become adults. When Talia comes back and learns about what is going on she is not happy at all. That changes everything. Pick up this great read and find out all about Jessie, Shawn and Talia. I hope that Talia gets her own book because I am hoping she gets some of what she dished out back!! Thanks Net Galley. I voluntarily reviewed this book in exchange for an honest review.

When Jessie flatmate and best friend, Talia goes to London for the summer, she needs another roommate to help cover the rent, fast. With no other option, Talia offers the place to her brother Shawn.
Jessie is a shy bookwork kind of a girl. She is starting a new job, and needs to concentrate on that only. She used to have a crush on Shawn in high school, and now sharing a flat with him is providing all kinds of distractions.
Fighting a mutual attraction while sharing an apartment proves more difficult than they thought. They decide to end their relationship when Talia returns, knowing well she will not be happy with this progress.
I enjoyed reading this book and really liked Shawn as the hero. He is sweet and caring and not without flaws. They both had insecurities about not being good enough for the other and they got over them in a very believable manner.
Wrong bed, right roommate is a good book to read and I look forward to more in the series.

This is the first book that i have read by Rebecca Brooks and i doubt that it will be my last.

Shawn Lassiter is the brother of Jessie's best friend Talia, the brother that Jessie had a crush on in high school and the brother that lost them friends in high school after sleeping with them.

With Talia going abroad to work for the summer and their submitter bailing on them, it is Shawn that steps in to help Jessie with the rent while Talia is away, however the chemistry is still there for Jessie and on his first night there Shawn hears something that totally changes his mind about Jessie.

This pair are unable to keep their hands off each other, however they also have insecurities that threaten to pull them apart. Not to mention Talia would not be happy.

Both characters balance each other out. Whilst Jessie is the neat freak who like to organise and puts everyone before her, Shawn is so much more laid back and helps Jessie loosen up a little bit and actually live.

The cast in the book were great and i can see myself looking to read the other books further down the line.

I received a free ARC version of the book in exchange for a honest review. All opinions are my own.

The book was well written but I had the hardest time getting into the story. I would honestly start the book and end up putting it down again in ten minutes. The result was that it took me forever to read and am unsure if I like the book or not. I honestly have no idea why I couldn't get I to the book but do feel like parts of the book had pacing issues; the middle of the book feels really slow while the ending feels rushed and forced.

The main characters kind of have opposite personalities so they fall into the trope of opposites attract. Jessie the the quite bookworm, while Shawn was is outgoing, hotter the hell, and has a history of failing at life. Talia, Shawn's sister and Jessie's best friend kind of arranges for him to become Jessie's roommate. The two seem really good for each other and help each other grow as people. Shawn, tries to improve his reputation with his family and job while Jessie becomes a little more outgoing. They also have alot of heat going on between the two; the author did a good job with the love scenes.

Overall, I still can't say whether I enjoyed the book so I can't recommend it. It's not that it wasn't well written but that I had trouble simply finishing the book. I'm pretty sure it's personal taste and that alot of people would still really enjoy reading the book.

Just like most women out there, I’ve had that moment in my life where I ‘dreamed the dream’, ‘wished the wish’ when it came to my brother’s best friend. I absolutely adore reading this genre and seeing how it could come to fruition in fiction.
So, I understand how Jessie felt seeing her high school hot crush hooking up with her friends and being ignored by him. It hurt terribly, and that hurt and dismissal turned into dislike and hatred. Feelings that never seemed to wane over the years as Shawn continued to be a self-absorbed douche.
But, Shawn hasn’t had the easiest of times. He’s wandering rather aimlessly through his life and really, he needs direction and structure. Now, after years of fruitless endeavors he’s finally found a job he enjoys, but having just moved to the area, he’s homeless and crashing on a friend’s couch. When the chance comes to sublet his sister, Talia’s, room in the apartment she shares with Jessie, he jumps at it, thinking that everything is okay.
Jessie is unaware of Shawn’s imminent arrival and gets the fright of her life when he mistakenly lands in her bed, while she is sleeping.
This could go from bad to worse, but Jessie discovers a different size to Shawn. One she can’t resist for long and soon they are spending every spare moment together. They’re hot and heavy with the whole summer ahead of them. These two were very convincing from the start. The chemistry was there from the moment they met again, and even when they were trying not to fall for each other, it was so obvious they couldn’t help doing just that.
But what happens when summer is over?
I really enjoyed this book. Shawn was so different from the usual hero. He’s not rich or famous. In fact, he’s just a regular guy who’s not always made the best decisions in life. He’s sweet and caring. He might not have much experience in the boyfriend/ relationship department but he’ll do his best for his girl.
Until Talia comes back into the picture.
Will she embrace their being together?
Up until this moment, I’d liked Talia, even though she wasn’t in the story much, she’s a side character, but for all she was Jessie’s best friend, she had a very selfish side to her and she let it out when she discovered what had been going on. Jessie has always felt insecure and inadequate next to Talia and this just makes her spiral back into a bad place. Shawn’s reaction isn’t much better and it all implodes badly.
Is this the end or will they find a way back to each other?
