I've received a ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Even though Alice came from a great upbringing and was cater to all her life, her stubborn, selfish and childish behavior was a big turn off. Despite the huge flaw that is the main character, I did find the novel to be overall enjoyable.

This novel was an enjoyable read and I had some laughs with the dialogue between the main characters.
Lady Alice Chivers does not want to marry the old man her parents have decided she will marry. To avoid the marriage, she decides to visit her dearest friend in Scotland. However, standing in her way is highlander Philip MacGregor. What is a lass to do but blackmail the man into taking her to see he friend. Philip likes control while Alice is chaos. But as they say, opposites attract and they both are attracted to each other. Philip reluctantly agrees to take her, but twists his words, each time hoping Alice will come to her senses. Alice steps up to the challenge, which intrigues Philip. However, when they declare in front of others they are married, it holds both promises and consequences. When Alice realizes the consequences her choices have impacted on her friends and family, she knows she must fix her mistakes, even if it means giving Philip up. Philip loves Alice, but will he realize it in time before he loses her forever?

Philip really does worship his woman, “aye,” he said with a satisfied sigh. “Well, ye do liven up my days, I’ll give ye that.” He hugged her tightly to him. I liked this book, I loved how Alice challanged Philip.

I love Highland romances and this one was no exception. Alice is headstrong and determined to free herself of unwanted engagement to an old and perverted man. She enlist the help of a Highlander, Philip through blackmail. He reluctantly agrees to safely bring her to Scotland to see her friend Elizabeth. Philip and Alice have incredible chemistry and I enjoyed their constant banter. I liked that Alice could hold her own and didn't allow Philip to control her. Philip is your typical Alpha man but he eventually accepts Alice for who she is and embraces his feelings for her.
An enjoyable tale! Definitely recommend.
