I received an electronic ARC from Tundra Books through NetGalley.
The latest book in the series doesn't disappoint. Elementary level readers have fallen in love with Narwhal and Jellyfish. This time they meet Otter and he shares all the adventures he has had. Narwhal wants to join him and go off on a big adventure. Jellyfish feels left behind and decides to find a new best friend. He goes off and tries to have his own adventure with his new BFF Rock. The story comes back around at the end when Jellyfish realizes he is also included in Narwhal and Otter's adventure.
Simple illustrations work well for younger readers. The text is easy to follow and humorous. Looking forward to having this one in the library.

This was a sweet story in the Narwhal and Jelly series. This is the story of best friends Narwhal and Jelly and their adventure when they meet a new friend, Otter. At first Jelly is jealous and threatened by Otter and Narwhal's friendship, but then he sees that there's room for many friendships and that he isn't being replaced. It was a short, cute graphic novel good for elementary age readers.

Special thanks to NetGalley for my complimentary copy in exchange for my honest review.

The Narhwal and Jelly books are so much fun! They’re a quick read, but very enjoyable.

In this story, Narwhal meets Otter the explorer. They become friends and plan an adventure together. However, Jelly feels left out. He is suspicious of Otter. He tries to find other friends to play with, but in the end he goes back to his best friend, Narwhal.

This book was full of puns. They were very funny. There was a birthday “shellabration” for a turtle. The famous snail explorer Captain Goodhart had the motto “Seas the day.” I couldn’t help but laugh at all of the puns.

I love this book! If you’re looking for a funny read, you should check this one out.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I'm gonna be a bit "judge-ie" today. If you can't give this book 5-Stars, you might want to rethink everything you know about everything, ever. The awesomeness that is this book, series, and author is ridiculous! I love the art, the story, the fun way information is presented to young readers. Does this book really even need a review? Doesn't it stand on its own merits?

For those of you who think a book can never stand on its own merits...

Narwhal and Jelly are just chillin', when Otter comes over. Otter is talking big about his adventures and Narwhal is like, "Dude, that sounds so totally amazing! Let's go on an adventure!" Jelly feels like Narwhal has left him for his new friend Otter, and Jelly begins to wonder through the water in search of a new friend. He fails. Finally, Narwhal and Otter run into Jelly and Jelly's all, "You have a new friend! What about me?!!?! I was your friend first, yo!!" Narwhal and Otter are like, "Dude, we've been looking for you like all day! We totally can't go on an adventure without you, man!" Then Jelly's all, "Really!?" And they're like, "Duh! Let's go." And they all go on an amazing adventure and we learn that people can have more than one friend. BAM!

NOTE: Nothing I have in quotations is in the book. Think of it like Luis in Ant Man and the Wasp (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-5g4Ce2BOo)

So if it isn't obvious by now, this book gets a 5-Star and a high-five from me!

I know this isn’t what I usually review on my blog. But technically it could be considered fantasy right? There are mermaids and unicorns in it soooo…

I knew I had to pick this book when I saw it on Netgalley for a couple of reasons.

1. My daughter (10 years old) and her friends at school love this series.
2. My daughter’s favorite animal is a Sea Otter.

I was excited to show her this new book and she loved it. It features the adorable illustrations we come to expect from this series, and is as wonderfully joyous as earlier installments. It’s a lovely little book.

Narwhal meets a new sea otter friend who is an exceptional adventurer. This makes Jelly a little jealous. Jelly feels a little like a third wheel once Otter shows up, but there is room for all of them in the sea.

I also like that they include a few facts about Otters in the book. They are fascinating little animals. It’s easy to see why my daughter loves them so much.

If you’re looking for cute books to read to your kids, or a fun graphic book for older elementary aged kids, then this is a good series to pick up. Especially if you are partial to sea creatures.

Apparently on goodreads this is book number 4, but i still read this even though i haven’t read the others. I got this children’s graphic novel through netgalley for a review and here it is...... I enjoyed it. The graphics were simple and cute. The story line wasn’t all over the place and simple to understand. This is the perfect children’s graphic novel. I plan to check out the other ones to see if the stories connect or if each book is an independent story.

"Ahoy!" Another marvelous book in the Narwhal and Jelly series! This book was just adorable and fun to read. Cute stories with a great message. My kids love how silly Narwhal and his friends are. Fun for everyone!

I adore the Narwhal and Jelly stories and this is no different. A new creature come into the life of the two friends and captivates Narehal's attention. Otter even seems to like waffles as much as Narwhal. Jelly begins to feel a bit left out and tries to find a new best friend but it is hard work.
Another lovely addition to the series. I didn't love the inset story and wish this had been longer but otherwise a great read.

Four stars
This book comes out February 5

I love love love love love Narwhal and Jelly! They're probably the most adorable duo in the entire world. If you haven't read any of the Narwhal and Jelly books, stop everything, go and read them. Go ahead, I'll wait.

They're great, right??

In this adventure, poor Jelly gets jealous when Narwhal starts to become friends with an Otter. What's Jelly to do without Narwhal? Or maybe the dynamic duo can become a dynamic trio?

You can't not love Narwhal and Jelly. I question your judgement if you do not. If you like comics, Narwhals, cute things, stories that are fun, waffles, waffles, more waffles...then you'll love these. Fingers crossed for a giant Narwhal plushie someday! They had a prototype at ALAMW.

Narwhal's Otter Friend is the fourth Narwhal and Jelly book by Ben Clanton. This installment is currently scheduled for release on February 5th 2019. You do not need to read this series of children's books in order to enjoy, but they are each so charming and fun that I highly recommend reading them all anyway.

This book offers readers three new stories about the joy of adventure and the power of friendship. In the first story, Otty the otter makes her debut splash; while Narwhal greets her with immediate enthusiasm, Jelly's not so sure about her...mostly because he worries she'll take his place as Narwhal's best friend. Readers will easily see why Narwhal's so excited to meet Otty, a boisterous explorer who even has an aunt who's a real live sea captain! But readers will also relate to Jelly's uneasiness seeing his best friend making a new pal. Jelly tries to work out his jealousy in story two, and in story three, the new trio say "Ahoy, adventure!" and discover they all have more in common than they thought, including a love of waffles! Jelly also takes over the "Super Waffle and Strawberry Sidekick" comic providing a sidekick's-eye-view of defeating the dreaded dEVILed egg!

Narwhal's Otter Friend is a great easy readers style book. I think the characters of Narwhal and Jelly are well balanced and fun, and I like that no character is perfect. Jelly and Narwhal each have their faults, and they seem to compliment each other because of these faults rather than in spite of them. I like how no matter how outrageous and silly the particulars of the story is, it is still easy for readers of all ages to relate to the characters and understand how everyone feels, and more importantly why they might be acting the way they are. This makes it easier for them to identify these actions and emotions in real life situations, and in turn make social interactions less scary or awkward. Also, the book is just as much fun to look at as they are to read. This makes it much more likely for readers to pick up the book and read it.

Narwhal's Otter Friend is yet another fun read from Clanton, and I look forward to this series continuing. The blend of fun, delightful illustrations, and developing friendships hit all the right notes and make me happy long after I put the book away.

You can't go wrong with this series!! Ben Clanton does an amazing job keeping the text and illustrations simple, but offering so much for the reader to laugh at and think about. Its easy to identify things about the characters which makes for great character introduction for teaching younger students. This is a series we will visit again and again. Well done!

Ben Clanton has created the most wonderful series in Narwhal and Jelly. With the fourth instalment, Narwhal’s Otter Friend, once again Clanton taps into the hilarity and the endearment of the Narwhal and Jelly friendship. These comics have comics within the comics, non-fictional information about sea creatures and lovely little vignette's all focusing on friendship.

Narwhal and Jelly are the new Elephant and Piggie or Ernie and Bert. One is sort of silly, flighty and ridiculous, the other the more serious, studious, and cautious type. They fit together perfectly and have the most wonderful time being friends. In the newest instalment, Narwhal gains a new friend, Otter, leaving Jelly a little bit jealous and feeling a little left out. Such a relatable concept for young readers, many will see some of their struggles with friends reflected in the adventures of these two loveable sea dwellers. As always, with a little bit of understanding and a lot of waffles, Narwhal and Jelly always come together in the end and come up with a awesome plan for some super fun. Narwhal and Jelly are favourites in our house and we will be adding this new edition to our collection come Spring! We cannot wait to belly laugh along with Narwhal and Jelly.

I read this book with my 8-year old daughter. She has read the first Narwhal and Jelly book and she really enjoyed it. She thought this one was awesome too! She really liked the jokes, she thought they were funny and she likes how the books include facts about different sea animals. We did not know that otters keep a rock on themselves to use for opening clams and other shells. Neat! As an educator, the Narwhal and Jelly books are great for building confidence in younger readers. The pictures make them highly interesting and the amount of written words is not overwhelming. I would recommend this for readers of all ages!

Well, this is the most adorable and charming book.

I have not read Clanton's other Narwhal and Jelly books, but I've just added them to my To Buy list. I love this book so much, I don't think I can properly describe the charming and fun story!

Narwhal and Jelly (and now Otter) are all adorable illustrations that make me want to dive into the river and hug hug HUG them big time. I love all of the clever word play they banter between them.

Also, I love the story. It's so timeless (friends finding other friends and feeling like a third wheel). We've all gone through this particular growing pain. The way the story is expressed and finally resolved is lovely and kind. I like how Jelly is obviously grumpy and insecure about Narwhal meeting Otter and how his relationship is challenged. The way Jelly deals is quite hilarious.
I laughed out loud a lot.

Which was a little strange because I was reading this in bed next to my sleeping husband and he was pretty confused about my bursts of laughter.

This book is humorous and fun, heartwarming and authentic. I love love love it. I can't wait to buy it and read it to my daughter. (I'm going to buy the first three too. I'm anxious to read them!)

The funniest Narwhal adventure yet. Ben Clantoon has a gift for word play and really creative illustrations. I’ll be buying this one for sure!
