Suzanne Enoch has been on a Scots kick the past several years and I eat them up. This one is no exception. I kept wanting to stop what I was doing to see what would happen next for diplomatic, handsome Niall and sharp Ameila-Rose.
The McTaggert men discover that the mother who left them when they were but children is forcing herself back into their lives. The impending marriage of their estranged sister calls for an agreement made by their rough, Highlands Laird father and soft, civilized English mother upon their separation seventeen years prior. To keep the family estate funded, each of the men must marry an Englishwoman, one of whom must marry a woman chosen by their mother. Coll, being the oldest, has been chosen as the sacrificial lamb and his mother has chosen Amelia-Rose Baxter.
From the beginning, Niall, the youngest McTaggert brother, notices Coll's lack of interest in attempting to compromise with both the agreement and his intended. After his brother's first attempt to intimidate his soon to be bride fails, Niall steps in repeatedly to prove that his brother can be brought up to scratch and isn't the boor that everyone assumes that he is. In doing so, he begins to see what a sharp, witty, woman Ameila-Rose really is when she isn't trying to live up to everyone else's expectations.
Ameila-Rose and Niall's romance is sweet and full of internal conflict as they try to fight the growing understanding and attraction between them due to her impending engagement to Coll, but to no avail. Once they make it past their own reservations, the external forces come into play to attempt to muck up their blooming romance.
I look forward to watching the McTaggart family begin to mend after seventeen years of parental anger wearing on the four offspring. Watching the boys begin to get to know their mother and their sister, Eloise, was heart-warming. I look forward to mysterious Aden's story should it come next.
The only downside was the pacing. Amelia-Rose and Niall fall in love over an oft admitted five day time span and while I know that regency romances (especially those that begin with the desperation of an arranged marriage) can have a quick turn around, it still seemed a bit improbable to me.
All around good story with fun characters, if not a bit improbably quick.

I love me some good regency and highlander romances! I love the time period. Fascinated by it, really. If I could be born in any era, it would be the regency era and live in either Highland Ireland or Regency England during that period. I mean seriously. The men of that time are to literally die for. I love their descriptions, I love their accents coming off the pages of the books, I’m just simply a regency lover. No doubt about it.

Sitting down to read Enoch’s first book in her Wild Wicked Highlanders series was an absolute joy. Enoch created a wonderful plot line and filled it with beautifully chiseled characters. She has a master talent for making them come to life, that’s for sure! Whewee! Those darling Scottish men…..yes please!

Niall and Amelia-Rose are wonderful characters. I loved seeing them together. Their friendship blossomed, and their love was just right. I loved seeing it develop and felt every spark of passion between them as if I was in Amelia-Rose’s shoes and Niall was my guy. Loved that feeling!

Enoch has definitely hit a home run with this 4 star book, in my opinion. It’s got the perfect blend of sass, romance, captivating characters and room for so much more with the next books in the series. These Scotsmen and their ladies have definitely stolen my heart for the long haul and I can’t wait for the next one.

*I received a complimentary copy of this book from St. Martin's Press and was under no obligation to post a review, positive or negative.*

Laugh out loud funny, if there is a historical rom-com, then “It’s Getting Scot in Here” is one! Suzanne Enoch catches your attention from the first page to the last. Her characters are so alive, her descriptions so vivid that you can see the story unfold in technicolor 3D in your mind’s eye.

This is the first book by Suzanne Enoch that I have read, and I am so glad that I did. In the highly competitive historical romance genre, Enoch’s voice had come out strong. Her characters are impish and have a zest for life. They might have “lived” 200 years ago, but their actions and reactions are so “of today.” Even their rebellious acts are relatable.

Now, that’s the end of my non-spoiler review. I have more to say but there will be spoilers. So, if you don’t want it, then this will be a good time to stop reading.

You’re still here? Just remember, you’ve been warned… So here goes…

I have so many historical romances that I stopped counting a long time ago. That said, I need to add that I have read about Gretna Green as the place to go for an elopement so many times that I have wondered how marriage is officiated over there.

Is it like being in Vegas where there is a place where you can get someone to marry you ASAP? Or is it like going in front of a judge?

In “It's Getting Scot in Here,” our hero and heroine Niall MacTaggert and Amelia-Rose Baxter, respectively, eloped to Gretna Green which happened to be part of Scotland. Needless to say, this is the first historical romance novel that I have read that actually tells what happens there!

For that alone, reading “It’s Getting Scot in Here” is worth it. That there were some tense moments interspersed with some funny ones that I actually wished that Enoch could have written an extra chapter set in Gretna Green.

Now for those who are into trivia, Gretna Green still exists today, and it is still a wedding destination for the whole of the UK and possibly Western Europe. For romance junkies like me, it should be in our bucket list of places to visit.

“It’s Getting Scot in Here” is Rated T for Teens due to the elopement.

It's Getting Scot in Here by Suzanne Enoch was one of my favorite romances to date. I loved Niall MacTaggert. He was the most likable of the three MacTaggert brothers, although there were glimpses of what the other two could really be like. Niall was kind and had a heart for others. He was also very handsome. Of course I'm not sure I've ever read a story about an ugly man ;).
Niall's love interest Amelia-Rose was spunky and cute. She was whip smart, but discouraged from showing it because gentlemen prefer women they can control easier. Smart and spunky usually mean trouble for men who aren't prepared for it. She was a good girl who tried to please her parents by doing exactly as told and by being untrue to herself.
Their story starts us off with a new family to love. I can't wait to read about Aden and Coll's downfall with the English lasses.

It's Getting Scot in Here is the first book in the Wild Wicked Highlanders #1 series by Suzanne Enoch. The story served as a good introduction for the main characters as well as the setting of the series and all the important characters. I have no idea how some of them will redeem themselves, but I am looking forward to finding that out.

The book is good for a semi-relaxing afternoon. To be honest, It's Getting Scot in Here is the kind of book I enjoy when I read it, but after a week I have almost completely forgotten what it was about. It's like a one book stand, which is not a bad thing, but it's also not great. At least I liked the book and I found it easy to read.

Angus McTaggart received a letter from his estranged wife, Francesca that in order to continue to receive funds for his estate, his three sons must go to England and marry an Englishwoman. There is no love lost between Highlanders and Englishmen, so none of the sons is enthusiastic about the prospect. The eldest McTaggart,Coll,Viscount Glendarril , lost the bet and is expected to marry an English woman that his mother chooses for him. Amelia-Rose Baxter, a free spirit, yet her mother expects her to marry a titled gentleman, and a meeting at the opera is arranged. Coll is not impressed and disappears, so Niall, the youngest brother and the peacemaker of the three, steps in to avoid embarrassing Amelia-Rose. Great fun and the first of a series.

The big picture: this was a fine book and I would read more books in the series when they are released, but am not dying for them.

The first half of the book felt very slow. The second half felt rushed. I guess that would average out to good pacing, but that's not how it works. The romance was fairly interesting-I liked that the characters built a friendship first. But, again, the ending was a little rushed.

I was more intrigued by the guys' mother. I'm hoping her relationships with her husband and sons will continue to be explored. Ms. Enoch could've easily made her a one-dimensional villain character and I'm glad she didn't. Family dynamics are always interesting to read.

If you like historical romance feel free to check this out, but maybe pick it up from the library.

This book was so fun! She introduced some great characters so I'm looking forward to the rest of the series.

Could a English lady marry a rough Highlander and be happy?
Amelia-Rose thought she couldn't do it.
In fact, she was not a conventional British girl. She would even marry- as her family wanted- but her match would have to possess certain qualities, and among them, he would have to know how to value the woman at his side.
The men of the Highlands were famous for being hard, intolerant, and not listening to their women.

However there was a signed contract.

Coll MacTaggert, the eldest son, under a contract signed by his father years before - and with a requirement that if each of his sons did not marry a British lady, they would be disinherited - was furious at having to marry Amelia. He then denies to do that, and leaves all the problem in the hands of his youngest brother, Niall.

Of course Niall and Amelia fight and like each other with the speed of lightning, and the feelings start to get confused. She was supposed to marry Coll, but her heart belonged to Niall.
Should she choose the heart or the honor?

This book was a delight! I've never read any other books by Suzanne Enoch and unabashedly admit that I picked this up almost entirely on the virtue of the title and cover. I freely admit to being a sucker for Highlanders in anything and romance novels are no exception. So I expected to like the hero. Niall MacTaggert certainly didn't leave me disappointed.
I am not sure I expected how much I would love the heroine. Amelia-Rose was so very enjoyable. Strong willed but still vulnerable, caught between what she wanted and what was expected of her. She was an utterly believable character to me and a very likeable one.
I have to leave a little space for the side characters here. There were so many of them that I loved. The entirety of the hero's family were enjoyable to read, not only his two brothers (whom I very much hope will star in their own romances later) but his little sister as well. I wasn't certain what I thought of his mother at first given her choices at the beginning but she too grew on me a bit against my will.
There was a lot here that ticked some of my particular buttons: A romance plot that hinged more on outside factors than some overblown misunderstanding. Amusing dialogue. The inevitable bits of culture clash. Cute nicknames.
My reading has been a bit slower these last weeks so it took me a bit longer to finish this one than usual, but though my reading time was limited I found myself eagerly snatching this one up whenever I got a chance, and I am certain I lost at least a -little- sleep in favor of reading it.
All in all this book was an enjoyable experience. Highlanders in London, a sweet and touching romance. Just exactly what I needed to read right now. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more books in this series, and perhaps a few other series by this author as well.

I received a free ARC through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Everything about this was so fun. I was rooting for Niall from the first moment we met him, and his relationship with Amelia-Rose was nothing but romance from start to finish. I loved this book.

This is a fun and very entertaining read. The characters are ones you will find yourself pull in for. After 17 years Niall and his brothers are summons to England by their estranged mother and find out they must all marry an English passengers their sister is to be married or they will lose the funds they need to help support Aldris. This was a signed agreement between their father before she left to return to England with their daughter and that one of the wives was to be one she would select. But things don't always go as planned and when the wrong brother falls for Amelia-Rose and the brother that was supposed to marry her rebels. Whats a brother to do!

No one ask.Amelia-Rose what she wants, so she is out spoken and spirited which has scared unwanted titled suitor off. Her mother is determined to marry her off to the first gentleman with a title. However, Coll, Niells brother does not want the marriage being forced on him so he acts out and Niell steps in to smooth thing over between his brother and the bride his mother chose for his Coll in order to save their home. But Niell likes Amelia-Rose and decides he wants her and will need to convince her that she wants him too.

This is a great read.and.I highly recommend it. I was given this book for an honest review.

I love the dedication of the book.. it is so sweet and humerous. It is the best I have ever read. Now, as far as this book, it is so witty!! It made me laugh and smile on numerous occasions. The MacTaggert brothers are riotously entertaining with their Scottish antic in London. Coll is the eldest, Aden is next and Niall is the youngest at four and twenty. This story was about Niall and Amelia Rose. Their difficult courtship, the hurdles they had to overcome to be together and it is about the true love and romance between them. It is also about their mother Francesca, who has been in London for over fifteen years and has not seen the boys since they were young. It is about family and the adjustments that come along with it. This is a wonderful book and I highly recommend it. Suzanne Enoch has a new fan. I have Kindle Unlimited but I will gladly pay for Ms. Enoch's next Highlander book.

I am simply hooked on this new series by Suzanne Enoch! It is a little bit of a different spin to the highlander historical romances that I usually go for. Biggest difference is that rough and rugged Highlander are forced into courting and marrying english brides in London. This made for a hilarious book to read as three highlanders rebel against their British mother. If you are wondering why I am making this distinction it is because it is a pretty important to the story plot. The story is told in multiple POV with focus on the two main characters. Also be prepared for not a lot of dialogue, however it does work with the story very well in my opinion!

The MacTaggert brothers are in a bind because in order to preserve their beloved childhood home where they were raised by their father while their mother was back in London with their youngest sisters, they must appease their estranged mother and marry an English bride. Therefore they find themselves being primped and primed for society ladies during the very social Season in London. Their tribulations in adjusting to their new circumstances while throwing in that stubborn rebellion with a healthy side of theatrics to the whole situation was entertaining to read. Their whole bull in a china shop and prankster approach to coping with the situation at hand made me constantly chuckle.

Amelia-Rose or better knows as Amy is a perfect tool for her parents to gain a title to go along with their money. Poor Amy finds herself engaged to be wed to a brute eldest MacTaggert brother. A relationship that can only be described as water and oil mixing together. However, it is the youngest brother, Niall, the one who is constantly playing the mediator and buffer that she starts to develop feelings for. Niall is the one with the perfect words, even if they are brute highlander words. The one who understands her and listens to her wants.

There is a whole lot of drama and action that resolves from Niall interfering in the arrangement. However, I can’t even fault him for it because he is the one deserving of this HEA. An HEA that is not easily reached as there are many obstacles they must maneuver through, mainly getting over their prejudices, traditions, and parents’ wishes.

The start of this series is all about emotions and angst. I felt so many things in regard to MacTaggert brothers and even what their mother forced on them. This is a new to me author but now that she has wowed me I am a forever follower.

This is my first book by this author and I really enjoyed it! Francesca Oswell, daughter of the wealthy Viscount Hornford fell in love with a poor Scottish Earl, Angus MacTaggert and married within 10 days. Except for the passionate nights, Francesca found Scotland boring, after bearing three sons Coll, Naill and Aden and then a daughter Eloise, Francesca insisted she would raise the Eloise in London and Angus kept the boys in Scotland but under one stipulation, if Eloise marries first, Francesca will not fund the estate anymore. So when Angus gets word that his daughter Eloise in engaged, the brothers go to London to change their mothers mind. When the brothers arrive in London, their mother has a bride picked out for Coll, but he is determined not to marry and Englishwoman. Coll's chosen bride meets him at the theater and shortly after the play starts Coll leaves, his younger brother moves to sit next to Amelia-Rose and the romance begins. There was so much going on with this book and it made you fall in love with the characters. Loved, loved this story and can't wait for more from Coll and Aden!

For the MacTaggert brothers the situation was do or die. Actually it was ‘get married according to your mother’s whims or loose your ancestral estate. Determined to follow their Sassenach mother’s rules but stubborn enough to do it their way, the brothers reach London utterly unprepared for whatever the city holds for them.

I was not expecting to love the story as much as I did. It actually took me some time to get in program with the Scottish lingo but once I got the hang of it, it was a pretty smooth ride.

I really adore Amelia-Rose’s character. I love the fire and fight in her and I deeply understand her choosing her battles. When she spoke again the eldest MacTaggert, I swear I hollered and clapped. I love me a strong heroine who takes no shit and stands up for what is good for her.

Niall is probably the sweetest Highlander to have ever existed. I couldn’t get enough of his charm and flirtations. I knew he was the kind of man who’d move mountains for the woman he loves. And the fact that Amelia standing up for herself is actually what attracted him the most. I love this goofball so hard.

I am super hardcore in love with the MacTaggert family dynamics. The brothers love and respect each other but they also know how to hit each other real good when one of them is being stupid. I really wan them to forgive and be happy with their mama and I’m definitely looking forward to the next books.

4.5 Stars!

t's Getting Scot in Here is the first book in the Wild Wicked Highlanders series by Suzanne Enoch. It is currently scheduled for release on February 26 2019.

Marry or lose their estate; that’s the devil’s bargain he and his brothers must follow. But wild Highlander Niall MacTaggert’s stubborn oldest brother wants nothing to do with marrying the sophisticated, pinky-out Lady Amelia-Rose his mother has chosen for him, even to save their land. Niall’s only goal is to soften up the London socialite, and show his brother the warm beauty behind the shiny, polished front. But what Niall doesn’t expect to find is the woman of his dreams.

It's Getting Scot in Here is a historical romance that had me smiling throughout. Niall and his brothers are less than thrilled with the prospect of marrying, never mind having to quickly pick a bride in London. As the peacemaker Niall finds himself stuck in the middle trying to limit arguments and hurt feelings, and the possibility of losing the needed support for his home. Part of this involves smoothing the way when his oldest brother and his potential bride clash. I enjoyed getting to know Niall, and seeing him struggle with himself and doing the right thing. I really connected with, and felt for, Amelia-Rose as she deals with controlling parents and the expectations of others. Seeing Niall and Amy find themselves and each other slowly was wonderful. I liked the bantering and wit, and they way readers could feel the relationship grow even as the characters were in denial or fought against it. I also liked seeing the way London society showed the good and the bad- the people that would do anything for the acceptance (or to keep the power it brings) alongside those that try to help others through the same channels. Showing both sides of a society I would have not enjoyed at all was well done and important, because we often only see one side. I really enjoyed getting to know the cast of characters introduced in this book, and I look forward to continuing the series.

It's Getting Scot in Here is a fast and fun historical romance that hit all the right notes for me. I am looking forward to seeing Niall's brother find their own happy endings as the series continues.

I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review. @SuzieEnoch

This is the first book of a new series from @SuzieEnoch. And as the start of the series, the events on how this happened brought me to tears. How many times have I said that i hated the Victorian period. It is brutal and so...

I love the characters of this new series. There are such vibrant people that you are going to look forward to on the next books.

Niall? I like how his personality was made, the devotion and the way he loved the people around him. Amelia-Rose~ it is a mouth full~ also has her own charm and it was such a delight to read about them.

I shed a few tears, ~its normal for me. ~ But the message was clear. It is not about the tittle, it is the acceptance that always counts.

I look forward to the next book

I love Suzanne Enoch, have for years. One of my favorite books is from her "London's Perfect Scoundrel" and that is one of many of hers that I truly enjoyed, why am I telling you this you may be asking if it has nothing to do with this story, well because I didn't love this one and I know that to me it is not reflected of her work. I didn't find it as funny and honestly the h kind of annoyed me. I did enjoy Niall and maybe it is because I love myself some highlanders and I liked him and his family but for some reason I couldn't really get into the story. I started and stopped multiple times and when that happens I find that I just am not going to love the book because it did not grab me from the beginning. I am not saying that it is bad, far from it just not my fav.

Suzanne Enochs' It's Getting Scot in Here is a smart, sweet and heartfelt Regency Romance centered on the impending marriage of Amelia-Rose Hyacinth Baxter to an unknown future Scottish Earl, the Earl of Aldris. Amelia-Rose needs a title (in her mothers mind), and the MacTaggert sons need to comply with he agreement made by the separated parents; upon the marriage of their sister Eloise the three sons must marry English women in order to keep their ancestral home in the highlands. But the MacTaggert sons, Coll, Aden and Niall will not go down without a fight. They will not make it easy on their mother as she seeks to arrange proper marriages for three sons she doesn't really know anymore. When the MacTaggert men travel to London, the 'Ton will be nothing but surprised.

I loved the spitfire character that Amelia-Rose embodies. Sure she's a "diamond of water" and with four dismissed proposals, her mother and Lady Aldris strike a bargain. But Coll has no intention of marrying a lass like Amelia-Rose, he wants a docile woman who will do and be as he says. The story takes an interesting turn as Coll vanishes and youngest son Niall tries to make peace and insinuates himself in the situation.

I love complexity of the various situations that needed to be addressed. Amelia -Rose to marry a first son or "titled man" and how the MacTaggert sons come to be reacquainted with their sister Eloise and their mother, after seventeen years a part. Enochs' writing is mesmerizing. I was pulled into it straightaway and she develops the characters so well that you feel like you might be able to predict their actions, but there are surprises. Amelia -Rose has a compliant but rebellious nature (especially where it matters) and I ADORE how she stood up for herself. In Niall, Enoch creates a compassionate, charming and upstanding man.

This is the first book by Suzanne Enoch that I've read and I very much look forward to learning more about this family. I'm wondering if Coll can be redeemed and just how Aden will cope with life in London. But I am especially curious about Lady Aldris. There's more to her story and I very much look forward to the unraveling of her feelings about her husband and sons! 5 Stars and recommendation!
