I love this concept. By the time I found this galley, some of the titles have already released. However in reading them it confirms that Buzz Books has the needle pointed in the right direction for some of the most exciting titles of 2019! Because there are so many amazing YA releases anticipated for this year, I wonder if this could ever become a quarterly release?

Great assortment of upcoming young adult titles featured in this installment, all of which I'm greatly looking forward to reading copies of when they're released. I always love these as they provide a great opportunity to try the book before it's out so that you can know ahead of time whether the writing and the story are worth preordering the book for.

This is awesome, I love being able to read excerpts of books when titles capture my attention. I've added quite a few new titles to me tbr list!

A very useful guide to navigate and browse the upcoming releases. This book gives you an insight and summary of various titles, a glimpse into the book which will help you in requesting it from the publisher.

“Buzz Books 2019: YA” includes a compendium of excerpts from recently released or to be released literature for young adults. This collection included quite a few fantasy or quasi-fantasy/ mashup novels. A more balance approach would have been appreciated. I especially enjoyed “Much Ado About Mean Girls,” which is a high school novel written in the style of the Bard. It was fun to read, but might prove to be rough going for some youngsters due to the style, although it is quite humorous. I also enjoyed the graphic novel that was included.

The Joan of Arc novel was written in a poetic style, which may appeal to some kids who enjoy poetry. However, it may be off-putting in appearance to some, since the novel is written in a “shaped poetry” manner, perhaps difficult to navigate for reluctant readers.

I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

I love murder mysteries, especially how fast and easy they are to read. I have read mysteries based on cats before, but this one seems so adorable and well thought out. I tend to guess the endings most of the time but this time I really didn't guess "who dun it!"

Really can't wait to continue reading these characters and this series. Hope there is more!

For this book in particular, there was a wide range of characters to keep you entertained but the ending did not leave you confused with plot holes. That is super important for a mystery for sure. The way the cat "assists" with the solving is both intentional but also lets you wonder if it is coincidence. Definitely recommend if you like easy murder mysteries!

I received this title in order to review. All thoughts and opinions are mine.

Buzz Books, you did it again! I can't wait for Descendant of the Crane by Joan He. I have a feeling those 3 are going to get into some mischief. I'll also be checking out Once & Future by Amy Rose Capetta and Bloodleaf by Crystal Smith. Romanov by Nadine Brandes and To Best the Boys by Mary Weber are also both possibilities. They sound promising, but they're in genres that I don't usually read. All in all, I'm pretty stoked about these. :)

An interesting variety of excerpts! I'll admit I didn't read all of them; there were a couple that didn't sound like something I would want to read myself (Romanov, for example), and there were a few that were second books in series I haven't read. My favourite and most anticipated is definitely Once & Future! I already knew I wanted to read the book but getting to read the excerpt has made me even more excited.

As always this is a fantastic round up of books that I'm excited about this current season. I know that I've come to the party late on this one, but I loved checking out all the excerps, even of books that might be publishing NOW so that I can quickly go and jump on the bandwagon!

I'm primarily a fantasy reader but there's a good mix here for everyone including a graphic novel.

Got my eyes on the Nonfiction part of this book and some titles seem to be worth taking a look again in the future, but for now, I did not find anything I am too eager to read, as YA is not my thing, sorry. Thank you Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I just casually have been going through this over the past while and the excerpts I did read were fine for the most part. I didn't read the sequel excerpts since I hadn't read the first ones and I decided to not read A Place for the Wolves since it now got pulled. I ended up requesting an ARC of Romanov after liking the sample and Bloodleaf and Descendant of the Crane surprised me. Those were my favorite ones. I hope the fall one has more awesome stuff later this year.

This was really disappointing. I was hoping for a wide range of different excerpts for all sorts of genres but instead got like 2 contemporaries (both were fairly average and kinda cringey) and the rest were fantasy or sci-fi pretty much. Bleh. No thanks. Oh, and why were there so many weird formats? Like a graphic novel, a play... some weird-ass artsy Joan of Arc thing? Not for me.

Definitely added way too many books to my TBR because of this. Goes to show there are plenty of awesome books coming our way!

I find these Buzz Books to be helpful in deciding which books I'll want to read in the future. I appreciate that this not simply a list of the titles, but includes a synopsis of each book as well.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for sending me a digital copy of these book excerpts. So many wonderful books coming out this year. I was most surprised by “Bloodleaf”. I expected it to be another carbon copy of so many other debut YA novels but it is not. The characters immediately had my attention and the plot was very interesting. I had not planned on buying this book for the library but now I will be purchasing it.
