The Beachcombers by Stephanie Queen is an interesting thriller. The storyline is a bit convoluted but interesting. The characters vary in their complexity with the two lead characters being very complex; sometimes so complex it’s hard to understand their actions. Both take hard and stoic to an extreme. There are quite a few secondary characters but most are rather flat. It will be interesting to see if their characters are flushed out more as the Beachcomber Investigations series is released.

Thank you Netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a lukewarm mystery and a disappointing romance. Shane is an undercover cop who poses as a surfer girl at a competition. She's paired up with Dane who is wary of her resemblence to a previous girlfriend. They have to act as a fake couple to catch a French con man. I could not get into the story. Dane was condescending and it irked me that he kept calling Shane "girly". Just not my type of romance.

I found this story to be so confusing and then predictable. Not engaging at all for me and I did not finish it
