“An Amish Reunion” includes four short stories by different authors. Each story deals with some form of reunion, including two elderly friends finding love; estranged spouses reuniting; a family returning to its place of origin; and a couple settling their past to create a future together.

The author names will be familiar to readers who frequently read Amish romance or family novels. However, these four stories are by no means all sweetness and light. While each story is wrapped up in the end, there are conflicts and problems along the way. Facts must be faced and life-changing decisions must be made. The authors tackle issues of pregnancy out of wedlock, death of a spouse or family member, illness and grief, relocating to a new town or previous location, reconciling marital differences.

The stories are quite even in scope and demonstrate skilled writing by the authors. The plots are engaging from the start of each story. Characters are well-drawn and genuine. Each story might be considered a novella, but each is also appropriate for reading in a single sitting.

Readers who enjoy novels about Amish people will not be disappointed by this story collection. For those new to this genre or subject matter, this book is a great introduction.

I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

These collections are always quite enjoyable, as they feature four popular (and wonderful) authors of Amish fiction. For this book, those authors are Amy Clipston, Beth Wiseman, Kathleen Fuller, and Kelly Irvin.

Clipston’s story is a sweet tale about new beginnings and learning to let go of the past in order to move forward.

Wiseman penned a heartbreaking story that was a very emotional read that shows the reader how God can give us strength for whatever we may face.

Fuller’s story features an older main character who is a matchmaker—two things I find enjoyable.

Irvin’s tale tackles a teenage pregnancy and intimacy outside of marriage, which are topics not commonly addressed in Amish stories.

This collection demonstrates that the Amish community isn’t immune to the issues facing those in the Englisch world, as well as the importance of trusting God. Some of these stories seem to tie in to full-length novels or series by the authors, so that’s nice, but the novellas can all stand alone.

If you’ve never read Amish fiction, this novella collection provides a great introduction to the genre. And if you’re already a fan, this will be one to curl up with and enjoy reading.

Disclaimer: I received a complimentary copy, but I wasn’t required to leave a positive review.

This book is a series of novellas written by four authors including Amy Clipston. Each story explores how couples are drawn to each other and finding love. In the first story Marlene returns to the town she grew up in. The boy she had a crush on is now her co-worker. Working together, they discover a new appreciation for each other. The second story is about a couple reuniting after tremendous tragedy. Is it possible to overcome the pain and make their life together work again? The third story is a charming look at second chances. A health scare causes an older man to reevaluate how he plans to spend his golden years. The final story is about the Amish community’s treatment of a couple and their out of wedlock child. Can they receive forgiveness from their community, their parents and each other? Can they be a family?

Each of these stories gives a view of how relationships work in the Amish community. Novellas offer much less character development. Details can’t be skipped in a shorter story and a couple of the stories feel rushed.

It is fun to read stories from 4 Amish fiction authors. This book introduces each author and their style, showing the variety and talent of Amish fiction writers.

An Amish Reunion is four short stories by four of my favorite authors! I was very happy to get this set from NetGalley. I always enjoy the novellas that come out about Amish families, especially when they have people from stories that I have read and loved. The first story is Their True Home by Amy Clipston. It features Marlene Bawell, who recently moved back to Bird in Hand, where she grew up. She was best friends with Laura, from the Amish Homestead Series. In the story, she goes to work at the local hardware store, owned by Rudy Swarey's (Laura's former boyfriend) family. Marlene and Rudy become fast friends, but both are afraid to try and move past friendship. Each have their own fears and worries, but God may have another plan for them. The next story is A Reunion of Hearts by Beth Wiseman. The story follows Ruth and Gideon Beiler, a couple who experienced the loss of their daughter and couldn't work through their grief. They both left the Amish church but went different directions. When they are called back home for a family reunion, they will have to work through the pain and loss. Can they find their way back to each other? In A Chance to Remember, by Kathleen Fuller, Cevilla Schlabach, the feisty match-maker in some of Fuller's other novels, may finally get a second chance at love. When an old friend, Richard, comes to visit, the two of them spend a lot of time remembering the past and wondering what the future holds. There was also a subplot about Richard's granddaughter that I really enjoyed. As she discovered her heart and where the Lord was leading her, I found her journey to be very heartfelt and close to home. The final story is Mended Hearts by Kelly Irvin. Laura and Zechariah's great granddaughter Hannah has been living with them for two years with her daughter, Evie. Evie's father abandoned them when he found out Hannah was pregnant. Suddenly, he is back and Hannah's world is flipped upside down. Dreams she has forced away come back. But can she forgive him for leaving her alone and breaking her heart? Each of these stories was sweet and enjoyable and brought a smile to my face. I truly enjoy Amish fiction and these four authors are some of the best. I am so grateful to NetGalley for giving me the chance to read and review this book. All opinions are my own.

Wow! Great group of novellas by several of my favorite authors of Amish romance books! Enjoy reading quick stories about characters from different series from each of the authors. Easy to read as a stand-alone book. Great to read as a prolific reader of Amish romance stories as the novellas provide additional info to stories I've previously read. Well-written, great introduction to four of the best Amish writers on the market!

An Amish Reunion is a compilation of four books by authors Amy Clipston, Beth Wiseman, Kathleen Fuller and Kelly Irvin.
Their True Home by Amy Clipston is the story of Marlene Bawell as she returns to her childhood home of Bird In Hand. Her father relocated Marlene and her sister after the death of their minds there ten years ago. Marlene is thrilled to be back but for how long? Can she convince her father to stay? And could a old friend be part of her desire to stay? This is a sweet story of new beginnings and letting go of the past.
Beth Wiseman delivers a heartbreaking story of healing in aA Reunion Of Hearts.. I have to admit this was a hard story to read. I found myself crying several times and just not wanting to finish the story. Wiseman somehow conveyed the deep sadness of losing a child and the difficulty in moving on. Topics concerning divorce and therapy aren't common topics when reading Amish fiction. I managed to finish the story and I'm glad I did. There is no happily ever after with stories like this but we no Good give us the strength to face each day.
I was happy to recognize one of my favorite characters from The Farmer's Bride by Kathleen Fuller. A Chance To Remember tells the story of Cevilla Schlabach, a precious older Amish woman that never married but has come to love others in her Amish community as if they were her own. Besides her successful matchmaking skills, she spends her days taking care of her little house and her friends. God is all she needs until a friend from her past shows up unexpectedly at her door. And past means almost 70 years before when they were classmates and Cevilla was Amish. Is the spark still there or did old age take away their chance for love? This is a great story on so many levels. It applies to both Amish and English.
Mended Hearts by Kelly Irvin talks about intimacy before marriage and a teenage pregnancy. Not typical Amish story plots to say the least. Hannah Kaufman finds herself alone and pregnant after her intended runs away before they are married. Two years later Hannah has completed the punishment from the church and is raising her daughter. Life is still far from perfect. While trying to recover from a broken heart and the whispers from the community Hannah wants to move on with her life. Just when the possibility of a comfortable future and a loving father for her daughter seems certain who should show up but the love from her past. Now what? Can she get past her anger and forgive or does she move on with her safe choice knowing it wouldn't be fair to anyone? I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is easy to assume the Amish aren't faced with problems like these. The honesty and reliance on God's Word is how all problems should be solved.
I voluntarily received a copy of this book from NetGalley.

Wow....I had gotten used to the formulaic writing of these four-book omnibuses, but this one really surprised me! Each of the stories plays around the central theme of reunification of a couple, whether previously romantically involved or not, but all four are very different stories. One involves friends who have suffered loss, another involves a couple who had a child out of wedlock, and yet another involves the loss of a child. My favorite, however, involved an elderly couple from different backgrounds -- it was my favorite because I recently read a full-length novel featuring these two (further down the road) and it was so sweet to have this backstory and understand where and how their relationship began. Many of these stories are tie-ins to full-length novels, or even series, that add interesting tidbits. If you find one that's connected to something you've read, you'll probably enjoy it the most! That said, you do not have to have read anything else to both follow and enjoy these stories.

All four novellas in An Amish Reunion captured, and held, my attention. I liked them all. It was interesting to read the back story of Cevilla and Richard, since I have come across those two delightful characters in other books. What a good way to introduce readers to four outstanding authors!

A great selection of four Amish novellas. I liked them all, but especially liked the third one: the story of Cevilla and Richard, both in their 80s, and connect after many years. For some reason that one was the sweetest story, and touched my heart. All have a good story though, and enjoyed them all. Would highly recommend this book and these authors.
