This is great novel that follows the effects of secrets in a small town with beautiful insight into the mind of teenage girls as they walk the line between childhood and adulthood.

In this beautifully written coming of age tale Tikka is 11 years old the summer the Van Apfel girls disappeared. As an adult Tikka recounts the summer of her childhood where her and her sisters Laura’s neighbors and closest friends vanished into thin air never to be seen again.

As adults the sisters wonder if there was more they could have done when their friends disappeared as they had a terrible secret regarding their disappearance.

This sharp and brooding tale of friendship, sisterhood and secrets is the work of a great new voice in fiction.
