Charlotte is the HR Director for thr NFL team that Lance recently inherited from his grandfather. They meet when Charlotte has to discuss complaints that employees have filed against him. She is pleased when he indicates that he will handle it, but less so when he fires all of the people who filed complaints. She eventually learns that he didn’t fire them for complaining, but because he wants to completely rebuild the team.

Lance needs to be away from the office for a week to attend his brother’s destination wedding, but many decisions need to be made during this time period. He decides that it would be easier to have Charlotte with him, so he asks her to accompany him. During the time away, they develop feelings for each other and agree to try to build a relationship. Unfortunately, trust issues related to a prior relationship cause Lance to insult and hurt Charlotte before they are due to return home. She tells him that their relationship is over, and refuses to listen to his explanation. Both are miserable, so Lance decides to pull out all the stops to win Charlotte back. Fortunately for him, and with a little help from their coworkers, Charlotte agrees to forgive Lance and take him back.

As with all of Ms. Madden’s novels, a healthy dose of humor adds much to the storyline! This book is a terrific addition to her portfolio of novels.

This was a really nice story, I liked the characters, especially the banter between them, often hilarious. The only downside is I know nothing about the NFL, we don’t have it the U.K., so I found the parts of the story which dealt with that side hard to get into and would find myself skipping those parts.

The Wedding Deal was the first book by Cindi Madsen that I have read, but it won't be my last. I like finding new-to-me writers and I enjoyed her writing and the story flowed well for me.

Former quarterback Lance Quaid has recently inherited the Mustangs organization from his grandfather and they just happen to be the worst team in the NFL. He has little time before the draft to get things in order, but when he decides to fire half of his staff, including the coach and GM, things go downhill really quickly and the only person that can even potentially help him is the HR Director. An HR Director that is all about following the rules...

Charlotte James has worked hard to get where she's at in her career. Having been burned by people in her personal life before, she's all about following the rules and making sure that she's in control of everything she possibly can be. When the new owner of the Mustangs fires several members of the staff seemingly for no reason, she knows she's got her hands full. Not to mention the fact that he's drop dead gorgeous and if he wasn't her boss and wasn't a former football player himself, she might consider making a play for him.

When it becomes obvious that Lance needs Charlotte's help due to her expertise not only in HR, but also with football knowledge and stats, he figures out that he can kill two birds with one stone - continue working on all that they need to get done surrounding the team and get his mother off his back by taking Charlotte to his brother's wedding as his date in North Carolina. Even though Charlotte isn't certain it's a good idea, she gives in. Will these two be able to keep everything strictly professional or will the "contract" that Charlotte insisted on for the week of the wedding end up going up in flames due to the sparks flying between them?

This was an entertaining, fun romance. This was a sports romance where it was nice to be in the front office instead of on the field. I wanted to pull for both characters and wanted them to find their happily ever after. Truly an enjoyable read!

Lance really does enjoy teasing his girl, "she raised an eyebrow in warning. “What? You said compliments were okay. Remember how much you like my beard?” He reached up and ran his hand across it, a mischievous twist to his lips." Charlotte is just a tad bit clumsy, "Her cheeks flushed deeper as she shook her head. “it was embarrassing enough to fall asleep on you . Now I’m grabbing your crotch.” He doubted replying that he was okay with her grabbing his crotch would make her feel any better." Lance really doesn't like to share, “fine. If I leave your side, other guys will hit on you, and that’ll p*** me off and then I’ll get into a fight, which would be bad PR.” I liked this book, I fell in love with Lance.

Charlotte must reign in the new football coach for her towns team. Quaid is loud and straight to the point. Charlotte is the HR manager and she knows the HR handbook by heart. She quotes pieces of it to Quaid when he gets out of line. Their interactions are humorous and intelligent. She knows her football and keeps him on his toes. He invites her to a family wedding so they can get some work done but they find love instead. Sparks fly and love is in the air.
This is a nicely written romance with plenty of funny and entertaining moments. It didn't have the intensity that other popular novels have and it had a slow beginning but it's a solid, good feel romance.

Okay, I'm kinda craving some, International Delight Butter Pecan, creamer now. This is Charlotte's extra favorite flavor of creamer, and is referred to several times.
I like that, The Wedding Deal, is a sports romance novel but not from an athlete's point of view. It was pretty much a no brainer that Charlotte and Lance would be the perfect power couple.
