I received an arc copy of this book from NetGalley for my honest review. Addison and Tucker are part of a group of childhood friends. As an eternal tomboy Addie fits in perfectly with her group of guys from playing sports to playing poker until one of the guys announces he’s getting married and she’s going to be one of the groomsmen. Along the way Addie finds that being a “girl”is not so hard and Tucker realized that Addie being a girl is actually a “great”thing. This is a soft romance that focuses on the relationship and has lots of great side characters. It’s a nice quick read without a lot of heat but you definitely can tell that Addie and Tucker were always meant to be. There’s also a lot of potential for new stories too as the other friends and hilarious family members (aka Addie’s grandma) have some side stories going on. This is great when you’re in the mood for something light and sweet. 5 stars |
A sweet contemporary romance with a satisfying friends-to-lovers story. Addie is a small-town physical therapist who dreams of working with professional athletes. Tucker is a big-city lawyer who quits his high-pressure job and moves back to their southern town to plot his next move. Although they've been platonic best friends since high school, something changes this time when they're thrown together in a wedding party, and suddenly they're fighting mutual attraction. But getting together could ruin the dynamic in their friend group, not to mention their own friendship--or it could be really great. I found some of the country-fried expressions (more than one metaphor about biscuits and butter) a little too heavy-handed. But overall this is an enjoyable book. |

I received an advance reader copy of this book from Net Galley. This had no influence on my review. Just One of the Groomsmen was my introduction to Cindi Madsen. This will definitely not be the last of her books that I read. Abbie and Tucker have been best friends since forever. Tucker is a lawyer in the big city. He became so wrapped up in his job and had no time for himself that he realized he wasn't happy. So, he took the plunge and quit his job and went back home to Uncertainty. That is where he knew he would be happy and where all his friends are. When he first got home and saw a great pair of legs sticking out from beneath a car he couldn't believe it was Abbie. He starts to look at Abbie in a different way and doesn't know what to do with these feelings. Abbie is a physical therapist in Uncertainty but her boss is a real ogre. She is so happy when Tucker returns home. He had been so busy when he was away that their phone calls and texts became few and far between. He even had to cancel trips home because his job had to take precedence. Abbie is 'one of the guys' . She always has been. She is most comfortable in sweats or yoga pants and a sweatshirt. Besides Tucker she is one of the gang with the boys. She plays football with them and even plays poker with them....and she is very good. She starts to have feelings for Tucker and doesn't know what to make of them. She doesn't want to ruin the frienship they have. I loved following Abbie and Tucker's rocky road to...is it friendship or love? I loved every minute of this story and finished with a smile on my face. |
It's been a while since I have read a book by Cindi Madsen. I can't even remember why really. I think there were maybe one or two books of hers that weren't my thing, so I just didn't pick up her next release or something. I'm really regretting that decision right now. The title and cover of Just One of the Groomsmen caught my eye and my attention. I was really curious what being "just one of the groomsmen" meant. When I read the blurb, I knew I had to read. It sounded adorable! I love a good romance about best friends falling in love. I also loved the fact that Addie was "one of the guys" and how that affected the whole wedding. Addie is one of my favorite characters I've read recently. She's definitely not a demure little thing. She holds her own with the four guys she's buddies with. I loved how she was both confident in herself, but also a little worried about being unnoticeable. I loved watching the wedding plans unfold through her eyes. It was also really entertaining when she figured out she might just have feelings for one of her best friends. Tucker surprised me. There was more baggage in his past than I expected and it was interesting to see how that influenced the choices he made. What surprised me the most was that I expected him to be more oblivious than he was. He seemed to pick on things faster than Addie did. That was really cool. I loved that he loved Addie for who she was. Addie and Tucker's friendship was cool, but their falling for each other was amazing. The history they had made every little thing that went on between them mean that much more. I liked how they had to navigate their changes in feelings for each other. Not only did they have to worry about their own friendship, but the other three guys they were friends with too. It added that much more pressure to the situation and fun to the story. As for those friends... I wanted to be friends with them, too! They had this tight bond that was just so cool. They all respected Addie and included her as one of the guys. They didn't think she was any lesser than them in any way. I liked how everything played out between them all. I want to read books about each every one of them! (Is there a Shep and Lexi book I missed? I'm super curious about them now.) I liked how their different personalities stuck out even though they didn't get a ton of times to show. I also loved how Lexi was instantly included and how Addie got to know her. Such good stuff in the friendship department in this book! I can't leave out the setting. This book was set in a small town. That small town had a life of its own with all the characters in it. I adored the gossiping women, Addie's Nonna, and all the other people who made appearances. They made the book that much more fun! Just One of The Groomsmen has to be one of the cutest contemporary romances I've read in a long time. It was right up there with my favorite Lauren Layne, Jill Shalvis, and Kristan Higgins romances. I absolutely adored it! |

It was great fun reading how Tucker's view of his childhood best friend, Addie, changed. The two of them had great chemistry and really complimented each other well. Their small group of best friends (of which Addie is the only girl) were a fun group of guys who would drop everything for each other. I highly recommend this book! I received a free ARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. |
What a cute book. Addie and Tucker and the gang have been friends forever and Addie is "one of the guys". They all meet up for an meeting to find out Shep has asked Lexi to marry him and he wants all of them to be groomsmen. But, because it's a small town and they don't want to cause an uproar...Addie has to be a bridesmaid. Tucker is starting to see Addie in a different light. As the wedding planning goes on and they spend more time together they "step over the line" of friendship to sex. I love how Cindi really makes you believe how hard it is for Addie to make the jump. I really felt Tucker's feelings for her and love how he flirted with her and how he was getting super jealous. I love that she and Lexi were becoming friends and I really loved the ending from the speech at the Wedding to the end scene! I'd definitely read more from Cindi Madsen. |
I very much enjoyed this book, though some of the “Addie isn’t a real girl because of _____” was a bit outdated, though I suppose that was subverted by the small town setting. The characters were great, and I loved Addie and Tucker’s slow burn ‘will they, won’t they’, though their course felt very familiar and predictable. There were no surprises along the way, which was unfortunate because the characters were hilarious |

Addison Murphy is someone I can relate to, especially being athletic and loving sports. She is one of the guys and dislikes skirts and dresses. She in an athletic trainer, good at her job, but does not have a good boss. She loves her family and best friends, which are all guys. However, she feels a special connection with one of them, Tucker Crawford. Tucker became a lawyer in one of the big cities, but after dealing with certain cases, he decided to quit and return to Uncertainty. It takes a strong person to leave a good job. Money does not create complete happiness, especially if it have an impact on your values. Addie and Tucker did not communicate as much while he was away, but sparks began to fly when he sees a pair of bare legs from under a car. Tucker finally was seeing Addie as a woman instead of one of the guys. As they take their relationship to another level, Addie receives opportunities to advance her career, which means leaving Uncertainty. Tucker does not want to stand in the way of her dreams, yet does not want to lose what they have, but of course, he makes a mess of things. Words are difficult to express, where one unintentionally hurts another. Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith and risk it all, otherwise you will never know what could have been. |
I absolutely loved this book! The chemistry was off the charts and the descriptive writing had me feeling like I was an actual part of the gang. There was humor, drama and small town nostalgia that created the perfect backdrop to Tucker and Addie’s relationship! I highly recommend this standalone! |

Addie and Tucker aren't just best friends. They are part of a group of best friends, four men and Addie. Their friendship is wonderful, add in the relationship between Tucker and Addie. Now it's perfect. |

Addison and Tucker will delight you in this cute romantic read. Addison is a guy's kind of girl who'd rather be just one of the guys so when her best friend marries, she becomes one of the groomsmen. When Taylor returns home for the wedding he realizes that Addison is not the tomboy/girl he remembered. Things heat up between them and things get interesting. A cute romantic read that I read as an advance reader copy via Net Galley and voluntarily chose to review. |

Addie/Murph is just one of the guys and now just one of the groomsmen. Always getting along best with her guy friends, Addie doesn't do the girlie girl stuff, no dresses for her. But when she's in one of her best friends weddings and thrown into a dress eyes are opened into the woman she is. Tucker has always loved Murph but when he sees her sexy legs it's a new version of Murph he isn't used to....Addie. These friends are a great set that you fall for. They are close, supportive and hilarious. Addie has always had a special bond with Tucker but feelings are leading into an area Addie is not used to when it comes to her guys. This was a great read! I loved this little town and the people of Uncertainty, Alabama. The friends to lovers with the threat if losing the closet friend you have makes for a special read. |

This was the first book by Cindi Madsen that I have read, but it won't be the last. Tucker, Shep, Ford, Easton and Addie had been best friends forever. When Shep announces he is getting married and he wants everyone to be his groomsmen, everyone is thrilled, although Addie will have to stand with the bride, wear a dress and heels, something she detests. Tucker, who had left to work for a law firm in the city, realizes how much he is missing out on life, especially as he hates his job. Coming into town, Tucker sees the most gorgeous pair of legs poking out from under a broken down car and is shocked to see they belong to Addie, but this sends Tucker's mind into overdrive and he can't stop thinking about Addison. Slowly, their friendship shifts into something more and they have to decide if they're going to cross that line. I love that Addie and Tucker have a deep friendship and their chemistry is hot. The story kept a good pace and the writing makes you want to invest in the characters and their lives. The book is well written, flows with an ease that makes you feel like you could be part of the story and with lots of humor throughout, ;it makes an ideal rom-com. |
I really enjoyed this book, I loved the friendship between Addie and the guys but also felt her frustration of always being ‘one of the lads’ . Watching Tucker and Addie navigate their new feelings for each other was amusing, and the banter between them was at times funny but also sweet and loving. Will definitely read the rest of this series as I want to see the rest of the gang get their HEA |
This book!! Wow!! This was such a fun, easy read. Addie has always been one of the guys, but when her best friend Tucker starts to see her in a different way, things get a little complicated. If you are a fan of rom coms, then this book is for you! You will fall in love with the main characters and their small town of Uncertainty, Alabama. I see many more books by Cindi Madsen in my future. |
I have enjoyed every Cindi Madsen book I have read and "Just One of the Groomsmen" was no different. I absolutely loved this book! I liked that it was told through both Addie and Tucker's perspectives. It really helped add depth to the story. I also liked that they had a solid friend group who had been friends forever. I enjoyed Lexi and Addie's friendship as well. It was fun to see Addie change from total tomboy to someone with a girly side as well! I would love for this to turn into a series - maybe to see Easton and Ford find love as well? I definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a fun friends to lovers story! This was one of my favorite reads of 2019. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this free ARC! |
