Shalini Boland is a great writer. I discovered her on Netgalley and I anticipate each new novel as soon as I am done the latest. Great psychological thriller, it will keep you reading and catch you from the first page.

Imagine waking up cold, wet and face down in the sand, but even more frightening you have no idea who you are, your memories are gone. Mia remembers nothing until the moment she wakes up, every thing is blank, how did she fall into the water? How was she so far from home? Who did this ? Or was it just an accident?
As Mia tries to piece together her life she discovers that not everyone is being honest and now she doesn’t know who to trust. As she begins to get flashes of memory she turns to her friend and rowing coach Jack and realises he’ s becoming more than a friend.

This psychological thriller had me hooked from the beginning, The story unfolds as Mia pieces together who she is and just as you work out what’s what, you turn the page and nothing was the way you thought. Shalini Boland writes incredible books and this latest doesn’t disappoint.

A woman washes up on shore. She has no idea who she is or what happened to her. The police are able to find out her identity. She goes home with her boyfriend, a man she does not remember, and tries to figure out what happened. As the days go by, she discovers who she can and can't trust and how she came to be washed up on the shore. This was a fun one. I loved trying to figure out what happened to her and if the people in her life were actual friends or con artists. Definitely an interesting read with a great mystery.

The cover put me off this book which meant that it has sat on my shelf for a couple of months. I’m gutted now that I didn’t read it sooner as it’s a fab read and a great psychological thriller. I enjoyed it so much that I’m away to read another one of her books.

Oh my word what a cracking read! Read over two evenings this book is a belter, a real unputdownable read. Coming to on the sand, not remembering who she is, or where she comes from, Mia embarks on a journey to re find herself and her past. Brilliantly written this oozes intrigue.
Shalini Boland is becoming one of my favourite authors

Thank you to Netgalley and Bookoutre for my ARC of The Girl From the Sea by Shalini Borland,

This was a fast read for me and I enjoyed the storyline of what it might feel like to wake up after a lucky escape without any memories, Such is the case for Mia. All she knows is that she was found on the beach, cold and wet. The police surmise it was an unfortunate rowing accident which Mia finds out she loved to do. But the accident had a lucky outcome. She managed to wash ashore with quite the blow to her head.

Mia doesn’t remember a thing. Not her boyfriend whom she doesn’t seem to like as it stands. She’s unaware of her lovely home, her wealth and why she hasn’t spoken to her mother and sister in 3 years.

But Mia is starting to get flashbacks, Could those be her memories from the time before she went into the water or dreams? Turning to rowing buddy Jack she starts to rely on his warmth and reassurance. As she begins to discuss who she was before with the people around her she starts to wonder if she even liked her old self,

Will Mia ever find out what happened to her that night? And more importantly can she really rely on others to help put the pieces of her fragmented memory back together again?

The Girl from the Sea was another great book by Shalini Boland. A fab read that hooked me in from the first few pages. A girl is found washed up by the sea, she is alive but has no idea who she is or how she got there.
Great psychological thriller with plenty of twists and turns.

Initially, I felt that this book was dragging on a bit. Mia, the protagonist, was becoming irritating as she bemoaned her memory loss. I also felt it was becoming rather predictable. Was I wrong?! Ultimately, it ended with a twist which made the read totally worthwhile. All in all, well-written, with believable characters and a great ending.

My thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
