Violent and urgently paced, packed with surprises and peopled by richly detailed characters, a fitting end to the saga Bagley has set out to deliver.

I really wish I’d read the first book in the series to get a better idea of the environment into which story takes place. Jack Dana is a retired marine, a novelist, and the story takes place in NYC’s Upper Eastside. His uncle was killed in the first book, and even though Jack thought things had settled down, the past comes back to haunt him. A cast of characters as varied as Dana’s past comes into play when Uncle Harry’s friends are murdered. Pulling all these things together takes a magician of an author.
