I couldn't put this book down! I loved Jemma and could feel her frustration at not being able to communicate and her fear at being essentially powerless. Dan (her aide's boyfriend) is such a creep and he fooled everyone but Jemma. (Of course, you can't be fooled when he's only obviously evil when he's alone with you.)

But even besides the two mysteries (will Dan ever get caught? And the other mystery not mentioned in the synopsis), I loved everything about this book. I loved Jemma's relationship with her parents and her siblings (foster parents and foster siblings, but she thinks of them as actual family), but also with her aide and really everyone around her. People treat her various ways (usually there's a lot of staring from strangers and people who don't know her tend to assume she's basically a giant toddler) but she has a really strong sense of self, and that really comes through.

I loved this book and am excited to read more from Penny Joelson. I hope this is the first of many. Highly recommended.

Wow! Definitely a 5 star read for me! This book has everything I love in a good mystery/thriller. Chilling, thrilling, shocking, and quite scary in many places! I hardly could set this one down and highly recommend to those who love the books I love!
Will definitely be recommending to the members of Chapter Chatter Pub!

I wasn't sure what I wanted to read next and choose this one. I choose it because I loved the coverart and a good mystery/thriller. This one was truly amazing and ties with only one other book this year at my number one spot. Absolutely fantastic.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this in exchange for an honest review.

This was quite a fightening story. I was afraid to put the book down yet afraid to keep reading. This is a really good thriller. Jemma is sixteen, suffering from a severe case of cerebral palsy. She has no control over her body and cannot communicate but she is very intelligent. She lives with her adoptive parents, who truly love her and have endless patience. Jemma also has an aide, Sarah, who spends time with her and generally helps out with Jemma’s care. Jemma is often frustrated, because she cannot communicate, for example when she feels unwell. Sarah has a boyfriend, Dan, but Jemma does not like him. He is unkind to her when alone with her and told Jemma he killed Ryan, a neighbor’s son who was recently murdered. He told Jemma, feeling sure she could never tell. But now you have to pick up the book to read the rest and you won’t be sorry!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This book was unexpected, I didn't know anything about this story or this author before going into it. I was pleasantly surprised. Having a main character that is non verbal is no easy feat for a story to still be told, and Jemma's cerebral palsy was presented in a really good way. The author didn't try to sugar coat the disability but showed that Jemma had a persevering nature and that she was incredibly intelligent despite what people thought. I'm glad the author let the reader see that Jemma was intelligent and aware and was limited by her disability and not by her own knowledge and understanding. It was nice that the people closest to her also knew how intelligent she was and that they believed this for and with her.

The thriller element of this book really was a standout. The suspense of would Jemma ever find a way to tell the police and her parents what she knew about the killer of her neighbour Ryan, and the disappearance of her carer, Sarah, really was gripping. I think at times YA thrillers can be a bit rubbish, but the author really built suspense with this one, and made it well...thrilling.

I did find the whole learning to communicate by the end of the story, although necessary, a little bit too feel good as that isn't always possible and it would've been interesting to find a way around this. However, I did like that Joelson included a note about where her research and knowledge had come from and the systems used by Jemma to communicate were based on actual work being carried out by academics in Israel. I am glad however that the author didn't make it too "Disney" and included the grit and the exhaustion that comes along with the beta version of these systems.

What a book. I was hooked just from the cover and description. Thankfully I was not disappointed. This is a fast paced read. Easy to read. Your on the edge of your seat wondering which way it’s heading. Fantastic read

I loved, I Have No Secrets! I read this book aloud to my six year old daughter after reading a review strongly recommending it for children six and up if there was an adult to explain any questions that may arise. My daughter and I had so many great conversations while reading and the days since we finished. My daughter was so empathetic towards the main character and really put herself in Jemma’s shoes thinking about how difficult it would be to not be able to communicate.

We were both absolutely captivated each night we read, I wont lie, I kept her up late so we could finish. My daughter told me she didn’t want it to end and once it had, she said she was going to miss the characters. I think that is a sign of a very good author who developed excellent, believable characters.

I Have No Secrets, could be read and enjoyed by anyone. I will be recommending to my grandmother who is 94. Despite this book being classified as young adult, Penny Joelson is able to capture and entertain all ages. I will be reading anything and everything she writes.

HUGE thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for giving me an eARC of, I Have No Secrets, in exchange for my honest review.

This was enthralling, amazing, and edge of your seat fascinating. I loved learning about the technology and how Jemma would learn to communicate. When I wasn’t reading, I was thinking of this book. I felt like my brain couldn’t shut off, much like Jemma’s. I will be talking about this for months to come,
