Thank you Sounds True and NetGalley for this ARC.
For someone who is great at Starting, but not finishing this book was just what was needed !
Good tips and reminders on the importance of remaining focused and allowing yourself to plan to see projects through to their end point.
There was new information and good reminders to help remind me to remain on track, productive and maintain energy to complete tasks.

Good actionable advice for everyone, not just people who claim to be procrastinators. Everyone can learn from this book.

Start Finishing is a manual about how to pick important projects in your personal life and gives step-by-step guidance how about how to finish them. In a few places, I understood that the author was pushing the reader to complete the project but felt that the author was insulting me for not getting priorities right and devoting my time to them. I happened to see the hardcover of the book at Barnes & Nobles and it is definitely prettier than the Kindle version.

A handy push to see things through and keep you motivated along the way. Not a lot of new material here but always good for motivation.

Ironically, I couldn't finish this book before NetGalley deleted it. While there are a million projects I really want to finish and I hoped this book would help me with that, I couldn't get into it and didn't find the parts I did read very helpful. It might have been more helpful farther along, but NG does the whole "this book will self destruct in 50 days" thing so I will probably never know.

Perfect for procrastinators. It's a guide to helping with ideas. It's also helpful to anyone feeling stuck.

This is way more than yet another book on productivity. Charlie Gilkey offers intuitive and useful advice on how to manage your time and how to get your projects done. It's has many examples of how some of the top minds in the business world have used the framework to implement their ideas from start to finish.

The author talks about finishing projects - in our lifetime, we start a lot of projects only to abandon most of them midway, this book wants to inspire you to finish a few of those projects.

Content- What you would expect from a standard productivity book, this includes everything, nothing new but the author has put his own spin on the ideas and a couple of them made sense to me so I am going to include them in my bucket

Writing - Writing is crisp and the organization clear. The book is pretty to look at. Hardcover may be better than Kindle but maybe that's just me.

Overall recommendation - Buy. Can give you a few new ideas about the way you schedule your work.

As an aside, the author's free planners over at his website are actually really nice and something I will be using for myself. The link is in the book or on his website Productive Flourishing.

I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley.

Charlie Gilkey's Start Finishing got me thinking about all the projects that I had left to fall by the wayside and what happens if I started to finish them. He states that life is a series of projects and we have to be prepared to tackle systematically depending on the various seasons of life because let's be honest the things that excited us at 16 may not be the same as at 35. Some projects/priorities may also be imposed on us by family and society and may not be relevant. Gilkey provides readers with a number of tools to help them clarify the top projects that they can be able to accomplish within their given timescales.

As a former US Army veteran and philosophy candidate, his experiences colour his work both on his blog Productive Flourishing and anecdotes in this book. He provides a refreshing outlook on some long-held concepts. For instance, instead of the traditional SMART framework (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Time-bound), he puts a spin on it and suggested Simple, Measurable, Actionable, Realistic and Trackable ( this makes more sense since not all projects can come to an end, like running a website. He also uses simple everyday analogies e.g pressure-cooker creativity vs crock pot creativity to explain how to produce one's best work with different time constraints.

Since I received a Netgalley Arc, I am not if there will be an accompanying workbook or if the book will have room for the readers to complete the exercises and thought-provoking questions. Start Finishing is indeed an easy book to get through, however, readers should approach it with the willingness to do the inner work of identifying blocks and get their hands dirty by doing the work.

This was not what I expected from this book. I could not get through half the book. Maybe it was just me.

I really enjoyed how quickly I was able to get into this book. We get so sucked into how many things that we get done, that we can't always make sure we are getting the right things done. Would definitely recommend this book.

Systematic and well outlined approach to the step by step showcasing on how to go from idea to implementation. The author has touched all the important aspects (having taken this route several times) on how to. The tips are very good and the book's contents are exactly for those who has an idea and needs to shape it properly for bringing the idea to the world n a shape of service or product.

I love this book. No, you don't get it. I LOVE this book. I can't tell you properly how refreshing it is to have a book that a) really gets you ASA creative and b) give you real hope (and solutions) for moving forward.

I feel excited about doing my work all over again and I haven't even finished reading the book. I am also thinking about who I can bless with the book. It's that good. Start finising this book.
