The second in the Amish Journey series will not disappoint fans. Natalie's story is a story of searching, growth, and forgiveness. Moses was an unusual twist that shows that neither Amish nor English are above sinning. There are lessons for everyone in this story. I hope to read more about Natalie and Lucas in the next book. Recommended. |
I love that we finally get Natalie's story! Ever since the first book I've been wondering how on earth the author would bring Natalie into the Amish world. Honestly, I had no idea how the author would work in Natalie's story line and how different her world is from the Amish life. This book definitely did not disappoint! It was definitely realistic the way it was written and Natalie's own progression as a person. My only complaint is that I really wish we had an epilogue showing just how both Natalie and Lucas adjust to their new life. They both would have had a lot of adjusting to do but we didn't get to see that. I will say the Moses situation caught me totally off guard. ** ARC received from Netgalley ** |

The second in Beth Wiseman’s Amish journey series, Listening to Love centers on Natalie an Englischer and Lucas an Amish man. Society says they shouldn’t be friends, let alone, best friends. Lucas helps Natalie develop her love of Christ and her love for the Amish lifestyle. Against all odds, love will conquer. An easy and enjoyable read.. Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with this ARC. |

Sometimes friendships lead to interesting lifestyle changes. Englischer Natalie Collins and her Amish friend, Lucas become best friends as they share their love of books and he helps her in her love and growth of God in her life. Can they just remain friends, or will their closeness as best friends grow into love? Their families are very concerned about the direction their relationship might take. As they try to listen to God’s voice direct them in their lives. many twists and turns to this storyline make this a very enjoyable book. Love, judgment, accusations and forgiveness play important parts to this book. I highly recommend this book. I received a complimentary copy of this from Zondervan through NetGalley. Listening to Love is another outstanding story written by Beth Wiseman in her Amish Journey series. In this story we continue with the journey between Natalie and Lucas. This story is a fast pace story with many interesting events happening that will keep the readers interest and keep them turning pages. The storyline is devastating, heartbreaking, and forgiveness all wrapped into one. There is a little bit of mystery that appears and will definitely throw you off kilter but it adds to the drama. This is such a lovely story involving the Amish and I enjoyed it so much. The characters are very likeable and realistic. I enjoyed the journey between Natalie and Lucas. Their love story is well written and the outcome may surprise you. The aythor has written a well rounded story and her descriptions really draw the reader into the story. I also enjoyed catching up with Mary and Levi from the previous book. I was given the opportunity to read this story in advance of its release from Netgalley. I was under no pressure to write a positive review. I have rated this book with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others who enjoy the Amish genre. Congratulations to Beth Wiseman on releasing another fantastic story for her readers enjoyment and I look forward to more inspiring stories from this author in the future. |
Lucas is Old Order Amish from a big family. Natalie is an English college student studying to be a Vet. Despite being from two totally different backgrounds, Lucas and Natalie are friends. Bonding over mutual friends, books, and more. The people around them - Amish and English alike -are worried. Their friends and family believe this friendship will turn into something more and one or both will get hurt. Their friends have a right to worry. In a moment of tense emotions Natalie admits her feeling, and shortly after a major accident results in Lucas doing the same. Through all this Lucas and Natalie are trying to trust God, comfort family, and find a way to be together. If the listen to love they may just find a way. In addition to Lucas and Natalie's story, the reader also delves into the lives of the people around them. It is a page turner and you want to know how it all works out. For everyone. |
A great christian story of life, love and happiness. An awesome feel good story that makes you take a look at your own life and the choices one makes, sometimes this effects more than just you. An easy read that I would recommend to anyone wanting to get away from the evil and negative of today. |
In the second novel of Beth Wiseman's Amish Journeys series, Listening to Love, the author takes the reader on a beautiful ride. I truly enjoyed this book, maybe even more than the first in the series. This story is centered on Lucas and Natalie, two friends who we met in book one, Hearts in Harmony. Lucas is from an old-order Amish district that is very strict, while Natalie is an English girl going to school to become a veterinarian. The two are good friends and Lucas has helped Natalie as she has grown in her relationship with the Lord. However, their friends and families are concerned that there is more than friendship between the two and they just can't see it. As they spend more time together, each tries to fight any feelings for the other by convincing themselves that they can be friends. However, when Natalie is in an accident, they both realize the extent of their love for each other. But, how can they be together? There is so much between them and so many obstacles. When Natalie's mother goes through a distressing time, will it help to pull them together even more or be yet another obstacle in their way? I loved this book. So many poignant moments and so much talk about discovering God's purpose for your life, something each of us needs to do. I also enjoyed the references in the book to Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers, which is one of my favorite books. I would definitely recommend this book to fans of Christian fiction. It will open your heart and your ears, so that you can listen to love also. I received a free copy of this story from NetGalley. All opinions are my own. |
An absolute pleasure to read!!! This book had me at the first sentence. Beth Wiseman has written an amazing book full of love. The moral of this story..."Love Conquers ALL!" And the greatest love of all is God's love! A must read for anyone! This book has faith, love, and charity that truly changes the character's lives! A great example of what God can do and how God changes lives! I received a complimentary copy of this book from Zondervan through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. |
I found Listening To Love, the second in Beth Wiseman's An Amish Journey Series, to be an exciting read. I have read several other books by Ms. Wiseman and have enjoyed every one. She does not disappoint. This is such a sweet story of faith, family, beliefs and love. Beth is an incredible storytelling. She writes carefully crafted characters that you can't help but fall in love with. Lucas Shelter and Englischer. Natalie Collins are two of the sweetest young adults you will ever meet. They have formed a very strong friendship that all their friends and family are worried will develop into something more serious. They gave been warned several times that being from two different worlds, it can only bring heartbreak. I finished this book in one sitting, I could not put it down. I received a complementary copy from Zondervan Publishers through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are my own. |
I received a complimentary copy of this book of beths through netgalley.. I am a big fan of Beth's book's I try to get all her books. I was held captive with this story. Was able to finish in one sitting. She's a very talent author. Love her work. |
This is a thoughful book about family, God's calling, and the role of choice in the pattern of our lives. I don't believe I have ever read a book where the pivotal question was so quickly presented. A young man raised in the Amish faith and a young woman reared outside the Amish influence fall in love and the "what happens now?" inevitable question is raised and the scene is set for the rest of the book. Secondary stories involve the mothers of both young people and the struggles they are going through, also tied to romantic vs. familial love. As with all of Wiseman's books, this is well worth reading. There are multiple plot twists, surprises, and the development of genuine and compelling characters facing real problems. I especially admire Wiseman's ability to present the Amish fairly and respectfully, not as perfect, but as three-dimensional human beings capable of making wrong and hurtful decisions just as their counterparts do in the rest of society. The primary issues of the book are resolved in a satisfying way, leaving much for the reader to consider and providing lessons for someone willing to absorb them. Four well-deserved stars from this reviewer. |
I have enjoyed Ms. Wiseman’s books in the past. This one did not disappoint. Would suggest this book for a great fall read. |

This was my first book by this author. Mary and Levi were a newly married couple from different amish cultures,. Every Friday night they hosted a dinner. Mary’s friend Natalie and Levi’s brother Lucas joined them every week. Natalie and Lucas slowly developed a friendship. Lucas taught Natalie about God and his Amish culture. As they develop feelings for each other she believes that with their different lifestyles they wouldn’t be able to make it work. This was a well written quick read. I truly Enjoyed it. |
#ListeningToLove #NetGalley This is the second book in the series. Natalie meets once a week, with her friends, where she becomes aquainted with Lucas who is Amish. Several people discourage Natalie and Lucas from beicoming friends, afraid that they will become romantically involved. A book about families helping each other. This is also a book about the consequences of the choices you make. |

Listening to Love is the second installment from An Amish Journey series by Beth Wiseman. I believe it would best to read the first book before starting this one. I enjoyed Natalie and Lucas's story. It was fun getting to know them. I just had to know what was going to happen. I am giving Listening to Love four and a half stars. I look forward to the third book from An Amish Journey series to see what happens next. |
This book is so good. It is well written and holds your attention. This is not your typical Amish romance, it is so much more! The author has a way with words that makes her books come to life. Thank you Zondervan Fiction via NetGalley for the ARC copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own. |
This story was interesting and I think somewhat unique in that both mother and daughter, both of whom are Englisch, have relationships with Old Order Amish men. Both struggle with the differences and the Amish men in question are struggling with the situation as well. Natalie Collins falls in love with Lucas, who is Amish. Meanwhile, her mother becomes the employee of Lucas’ neighbor, also Amish. As both families struggle with the relationship between Lucas and Natalie, they need to find enough common ground that they can make it work for both of them or else walk away. Natalie’s mother’s situation makes her find an inner strength that she had been lacking since her divorce. I love Beth Wiseman’s books. This one was a little hard to get my head around at first but it was a solid story all the same. I received a Kindle copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. |
Beth Wiseman is releasing book two in her Amish Journey series. This one kind of picks up where the previous one left off. Mary and Levi are married and have friends they invite for Friday suppers every week. Natalie, the friend, is also friends with Lucas, Levi's brother. The hitch in this tale is that Natalie is Englisch and Lucas is Amish. They see nowhere for their relationship to go. Lucas knows he will be giving up much of what made up his life if he continues to court Natalie. Natalie is going to vet school, but she can't stand the sight of blood and can't even give shots to dogs. She's now unsure of what she should do. Lucas begins to realize the changes that will have to take place in his own life, but he's willing to do that for Natalie. There aren't as many tear-jerking moments in this book as there are in Hearts in Harmony that I reviewed here: https://beckysbookaddiction.blogspot.com/2019/01/hearts-in-harmony.html. There are enough, though. This is a five star book, two thumbs up, and exchanging your truck for a horse drawn buggy. My thanks to Zondervan Fiction and NetGalley.com for allowing me to read and review this book. |
I received an ARC copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for my honest opinion of it. I absolutely loved this book! Natalie and Lucas are best friends and tell everyone that there is no romance between them. Lucas starts to have feelings for Natalie that he has denied and Natalie feels the same. The only problem is that he is Amish and she is not. This book had romance and some suspense too so it definitely is not a typical Amish romance novel. I highly recommend! |
