LISTENING. TO LOVE. Beth Wiseman When a young married couple invite 2 single people every Friday night, and then they start meeting at the library. What would think, they were matchmaking. In this case, one is a brother, the other is like a sister, and not Amish. Her plans are on being a vet, and now drives a car. When love happens, there is big opposition from families. She was also on a spiritual quest, and felt that wasn’t complete enough to think of marriage, and commitment. Interesting of following Natalie and how values changed the closer she learned about God, and want he wanted for her. Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion by Net Galley and. Listening to Love is book 2 in the "An Amish Journey" series. It can be read as a standalone book, but will make FAR more sense if read after book 1 in the series (Hearts in Harmony) which sets up the background for everything that happens in this book. Listening to Love is just as good as book 1 in the series (which is fantastic!). It continues the story of Levi and Mary, but focuses more on Natalie and Lucas. The series takes place in Amish communities in southern Indiana and describes friendship between Amish and English characters. Beth Wiseman has her own style of writing Amish romance novels and her books are ALWAYS worth reading - this series is no exception! |

The second in the series, and just as good as the first book. This one follows Natalie and Lucas (he is Amish she is not), who are friends, but slowly fall in love. Obviously there is a conflict, and both families are strongly opposed to the relationship as well. Besides them, we also get views of both of their mothers, and a fuller perspective of their lives and reasons whys. I enjoyed this one a lot and had trouble putting it down. Highly recommend this book and series and author. |
When I first opened the book, I didn't realize it was second in a series that I had begun last year. So it was nice to catch up with Mary and Levi in this book and then follow their friends through a romance. There were quite a few surprises here that I wouldn't have suspected either from an actual Amish community or a typical Amish fiction book, but they kept me on my toes guessing about how things would play out in the end. Without any spoilers, I can say that the last page was the biggest disappointment for me. If you've read the novel, you might ask why....and I would say because 'why can't we have a unique ending, one that goes the other way, once in a while?' |
