This is the third in Lovett's sex planet books (Planet of Desire is the correct series name) and I enjoyed it but not quite as much as the first two. Jenie is an alien herself, so it's her with a genetic mating bond to worry about for a change. She's convinced that penetrative sex is going to seal the deal, as it were, so she spends most of the book fighting both the sex planet toxin (read more about that here) and the mating bond.

Her mate? Koviye, who we meet in the first two books, a Fellamana with a special power. You don't need to have read these earlier installments, but they do explain the Fellamana culture and provide context for the central conflict in the book. Koviye's power, the exstare, is a sort of magical orgasm that the Fellamana believe must be shared equally among all of their people. They are a polyamorous civilization and everyone is convinced that they're incapable of monogamy. Kind of makes it hard to have an exclusive mating bond, no?

The book is full of blisteringly hot sex since Koviye can dream-travel, but it's not anchored by a great subplot. The two of them spend a good bit of time in a ship heading off to rescue characters from the previous book, only to find that they don't need to. They do have their own adventure, but I wasn't engaged with that storyline and skimmed it.

Other than this lackluster adventure plot, I didn't understand why Koviye couldn't keep putting his hand on people to give them the exstare and still be committed to Jenie. Their solution is a spoiler, so I'll keep it to myself, but it didn't make much sense to me.

Will that stop me from reading future sex planet books? Nope. The plot already doesn't make sense (sex toxin? dream-travel? mental orgasms?) so it's not like anyone is reading these for the physics and anthropological study. We're reading them for a bonkers sexcapades, including zero-gravity business against the roof of a ship, conveniently-engineered spacesuits, and sparkling blue aphrodisiac semen. If that's what you want, that's what you'll get.

Content Warnings: heroine's family dies long before story, there's some war-related violence and death

Review excerpted from my blog post over at FanSciHist (https://fanscihist.wordpress.com/2019/07/02/stolen-desire-by-robin-lovett/)

My Rating: 4 stars

Library recommendation: Recommended for public library erotica collections.

Warning: Hereafter, you chance spoilers. I will try never to reveal major plot points, but to review any book, you must reveal some parts of the story.

Number of titles I have read by this author: 3

Love story speed: Characters know each other from previous books in the series. The speed is quick, but not as quick as some erotica.

Relationship dynamics: The Alien Sex God (H) / The Emotionally Unavailable Military Woman (h)

Sexual content: Oodles, and a variety, including anal sex and weightless sex; “onscreen” and explicit.

Triggers: Anal sex; discussions of genocide and slavery.

Bonuses: Consent is a must in Koviye’s culture and the concept of consent is explored at length.

Grammar/Editing: Some awkward phrasing and incorrect verb tenses, and a couple of typos, which will all hopefully be corrected in the final, published version.

Review: The pacing of this novel is even, and consistent with that of the previous books in this series. The world building, biology, and physics are fairly well done, and are consistent internally as well as consistent with what was presented in the previous books.

Jenie and Koviye have a relationship that begins in diplomacy and develops into something very intense and overwhelming for both of them. That being said, they are quite careful with one another and avoid miscommunication as much as possible, which was quite refreshing. Koviye is probably one of my favourite heroes in a long time, particularly because of his refreshing point of view concerning consent, and I looked forward to his story after encountering him in the previous novels. Jenie, while not evoking as much feeling, is still compelling and well-developed. Many of the supporting characters in this novel were introduced in the previous novels (some are previous heroes/heroines) and thus some character development would not be clear without reading the previous books. New supporting characters are less well-developed and really seemed peripheral to the story.

Colours Version: Blue. White. Green. Red. Puce. Purple?

I have been dying for Jenie and Koviye's book ever since I read Captive Desire. Stolen Desire was surprisingly pretty slow burn and I use the term "slow burn" loosely because slow burn in an erotic sci-fi romance is totally different from your regular slow burn. What I really mean is that it actually takes a while for Jenie and Koviye to get down to business. And I really liked that! I think it made sense, given the situation they found themselves in.

Jenie is part alien and her mating urges were triggered when she got stranded on what we call "Sex Planet," where everything - from the air to the plants - is an aphrodisiac. There's a problem though: her body has latched onto Koviye, an alien whose biology makes it impossible for him to lead a monogamous life. Naturally, these two are put in forced proximity and a lot of sexy and crazy shenanigans take place.

I mentioned earlier that Stolen Desire was kind of a slow burn for an alien romance. But that's not the only thing that surprised me. Stolen Desire was also surprisingly angsty and Jenie was the Alpha in the relationship. What I'm trying to get at here is that the typical gender roles in alien romances are switched in this book. The heroine is the one who needs a mate. The heroine is the Alpha and she's the one doing all the dirty talking. I honestly never envisioned the dynamic between Jenie and Koviye to be like this, but I have no complaints about it. I actually really enjoyed this little twist.

I also think that Stolen Desire was probably the most romantic book in this series so far. Despite really enjoying this book, I do feel like some questions in regards to the hero and heroine's "biological changes" were not exactly answered. That's pretty much my only complaint though. I hope Robin Lovett continues this bananas series because I am obsessed with it!!

Koviye of the Fellamana is an actual sex god. He uses his powers for good, helping heal and satisfy his people. He believes monogamy is impossible...until he meets human Jeni, a General fighting against their common enemy.

Trapped on a sex planet, Jeni is destined to be forever mated to the next person she has sex with, and she wants Koviye but doesn't trust him. And the clock is ticking.

If you enjoy sex planets, space, and sexy times on a SPACE FAINTING COUCH, this book is just entirely right for you. Bananas in the best ways possible, what a treasure!

Jenie dreamt of Koviye every night since I landed on this sex planet where every breath I take is an aphrodisiac to my blood. I am not fully human, I am part alien, and the planet has awakened my body’s instinct to find a mate. When I started reading I couldn't put it down.Robin Lovett is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can't wait for the next book.

Usually I don't like to read a book that has books before it that I haven't read. But this one sounded like it could be good, and it did say it could be read as a standalone, so I went for it. True, you didn't have to read the prior two books, but I think it would have helped a whole lot to have all that background information.

So it's complicated how I feel about this book. Some parts were fun and exciting, others I was bored out of my mind. Some parts were fun and hot, others were cheesy and made me roll my eyes. I went up and down a lot with this one, but overall it was pretty good.

Koviye (NO idea how to pronounce his name by the way) and Jenie have lusted after each other since Jenie's ship crashed on his planet. Apparently there is something in the air on this planet that if not released thru sex builds up like a toxic poison in a person's body. I'm honestly trying not to laugh at this as I type. Shit. I failed. Anyway, whatever, I'll roll with it for the story. It should be simple enough, the two of them just need to go at it like bunnies. But Jenie can't. Half of her DNA is from a people who mate for life and her mating bond is burning hot inside her. She can't risk making that bond with Koviye because his people are most definitely not monogamous and he would only cause her pain. Fortunately because these two want each other so badly they can share dreams. And anything goes in a dream. Unfortunately, that sort of backfires and only makes them each want the other more.

Complicating things even more is a military problem and a former lover missing. Promising to help her while also not going past her boundaries, Koviye quite literally has to escape his own people and flee in a stolen ship with Jenie. Once in space there's good and bad news. The bad forcing the two of them to have to travel even longer together. Which becomes a test in so many ways. And even though they {we assume} succeed, Jenie now faces a bigger problem. And the two of them have to decide what sort of future they each want. I have to say that the ending was predictable and way too convenient. I was hoping it would go in a different direction.

I liked Koviye. His restraint was beyond impressive and watching him deal with all these new thoughts and feelings was believable. Was he swoon worthy? No, but I wouldn't pass up what he's offering. I didn't dislike Jenie, but I did hate her obsession with Assura.

While I guess I can say that I mostly enjoyed this, it definitely wasn't good enough to make me want to read the first two or any after it.

I don't know what happened, but I DNF this one... It's probably me, but I just couldn't get into this story to save my life. Robin Lovett's books usually grab my attention and I can't read fast enough. I rarely put a book down, but this one, I just had to set it down and walk away. Maybe I'll be able to pick it up at a later date and dig in, but it's just not doing anything for me. don't let this review deter you from picking it up and trying it.

This is another great story added to this series but can be read as a stand-alone. The general plot to the series is about a planet that acts as an aphrodisiac to most species, but this book, unlike the previous two, is about a sexy alien who is indigenous to this planet. This is a fun fun book to read with lots of adventure and steamy romance. The protagonists jump off the page with lots of chemistry and not one dull moment. Highly recommend reading at the beach to cool off. Can’t wait to read this author’s next book!

So, when I chose to read and review this book I didn't realise that it was the third book in this series!

Now, I've been reading erotica for years and there is nothing more that I appreciate than a really steamy erotic novel and boy was I surprised! I didn't know that this was an alien/sci-fi erotica, I saw the title, got excited and asked to review it. It was only three pages in that I realised that Koviye was in fact an alien. At first I was a bit apprehensive but that quickly faded the more and more I got engulfed in the story.

I LOVED IT and yes it's slightly tacky and cringe and super sexy but that's everything that I love and I'm so happy I chose this book. I will be buying the first two books of the series this evening and I cannot wait to see where this story began!

I hope there will be a follow up for Jenie and Koviye!!

Stolen Desire is a heart-pounding and pulse racing journey that will tear your heart to shreds as it seeps into your very soul. I wasn’t prepared for the intensity of emotions and the visceral connection between the main characters. They stole the very breath from my lungs as I walked alongside them! I love nothing more than finding a story that makes me feel every word and emotion from each of the wonderful characters. Just when I think my heart can’t take anymore, I find that it expands and confirms to the demands of the incredible storyline. What an unforgettable adventure!

Jenie is stuck on a planet that makes her ability to form intimate connections deeply impossible. She has secrets that could tear her very soul apart, so she keeps herself separate from all except her shipmates. It’s not that she doesn’t trust anyone else, but that she doesn’t trust herself. The consequences are more then she could bear, so she plans on avoiding them at all costs. Koviye is beyond intrigued by Jenie. She is so unlike anyone he has ever met that he finds himself consumed by thoughts of her and the memory of her presence. This causes nothing be confusion for him since he has never had any problem moving from one person to another. After all, that is his life’s purpose on his planet, but the harder he fights against the pull to Jenie the stronger it gets. When the very force of their attraction makes it impossible to be ignored any longer, will they lose themselves completely to the promise of what can never be, or will they discover that the impossible has already become reality before it’s too late?

Jenie and Koviye are a fantastic couple that kept on the edge of my seat the entire time. I never knew what to expect, and what I found was an intoxicating love affair that made my very soul ache for their happy ending. The beautiful Jenie held Koviye utterly captive with her strength and her heart and her courage. He longed to find out all there was to this alien beauty. She was everything he wanted and never understood why. Jenie never wanted to find Koviye only to lose him to one impossibility after another, and yet her heart refused to let him fade away. They had a connection created on a whole different level them most, and that scared and annoyed her to no end. Love is never easy and even less simpler, but it is something that we can never walk away from without soul deep scars.

Robin Lovett is an author that you have to keep an eye on. She knows how to write addicting stories full of heart, surprise, and above all hope. Her writing is the stuff of dreams, and it will make your heart sour to new heights of pleasure and joy. Do not miss out on this incredible series! You will want to read each book and savor each wonderful couple that you will find. This is one sci fi romance that will never let you go.

This is book 3 in the Planet of Desire series. It can absolutely be read as a stand alone. After reading the blurb for this one, I was completely intrigued and couldn't wait to read it. But unfortunately for me, it fell flat. The writing itself is great. I just had an extremely hard time getting into the story. Something just didn't mesh for me between the main characters. I just had a really hard time finding any sort of connection to them. Like I said, the writing itself is good, I just couldn't connect with the story and characters. I had a hard time finishing it. But that's not to say that other's wouldn't thoroughly enjoy it. Just not for me unfortunately.

This book surprised me (in a good way) with regards to the “unavoidable pheromones” trope. I’ve read quite a few like that before, and while they can sometimes be amusing/entertaining (albeit, a bit eyeroll-inducing), it does tend to get old rather fast. I looked at this book multiple times on Netgalley before finally deciding to give it a try (nothing else was catching my interest, and I do love alien interspecies romance/erotica), and I was really happy to discover that the author did not have the MCs falling into bed from the get-go, and constantly banging each other because of said pheromones.

I loved the writing style, and loved being in both their heads from the 1st person PoV. I adored Koviye, and liked Jenie (for the most part), with the exception of a few random instances and outbursts from her that were selfish/hypocritical/mean/bitchy, and had me thinking, “Damn, girl… He doesn’t deserve to be treated like that.” I also enjoyed the multicultural aspects very much. The Fellamana culture/society was very interesting. And the slow-burn sexual tension was… absolutely delicious! I was completely riveted and could not put it down. Seriously, this was me through the first half of the story:

GIF: https://i.imgur.com/RH0PL6U.gif
GIF: https://i.imgur.com/8KNVXlV.gif

And then, just past the mid-point, we get to the first full-on sex scene, and that’s where the story choked and died for me. :(

Just to be clear, it’s not the sexual content I disliked, but rather the way the scene was written… so jarring, absurd, and out of character (even though, yes, we get an “explanation” as to why). Jenie suddenly turns into a mega sex-fiend, practically attacking Koviye (he seemed as shocked as I was…). There’s morphing lounge chairs, elevated/morphing pillows, and mirrors… all appearing out of nowhere (this is a dreamwalk, btw), and gobs of sparkling fluorescent blue cum squirting everywhere, and cringy dialogue…

I was sitting there with my mouth hanging open, thinking, “WTF just happened?” It completely killed my mood and enjoyment. The tone of the first half of the story was so different, and had me eagerly anticipating a highly arousing, erotic, spine-tingling, toe-curling love/sex scene. But instead, we got a really wacked-out sex scene with cheesy, over-the-top, raunchy porn-cringe. *cries* :(

If that scene had been a porn video on redtube, pornhub, etc., I would have been snickering and laughing (while scrambling to mute the cringy, fake noises/dialogue), and most likely bookmarking it for future-giggles. But in this story, as the culmination of all that delicious sexual tension and pent-up frustration between two characters I’d been highly invested in… not so amusing. And definitely not arousing (IMO).

Immediately after that scene, their relationship took a very depressing turn (with bad/uncomfortable feelings and immature, petty sniping back and forth), which soured my already-sour mood even more. I had to take a break from the story at that point, and found it extremely difficult to get back into it later…

While I did manage to finish this book, it was a struggle. My heart just wasn’t in it anymore (not to mention, I was extremely apprehensive about there being more cringy sex scenes), and I was more than a bit irritated with the way a couple of the major conflicts were “resolved”, which felt very lazy and contrived: The “truth-serum” gas cloud they flew through, which made them confess all their feelings. And how Koviye was suddenly “in the clear” to step down from his God-like role amongst his people and be with Jenie, because someone else just happened to manifest the Exstare at the perfect time. *sigh* :(

Honestly, this was one of the most difficult-to-rate books I’ve come across. The first half was a solid 4-star read for me. The second half was 2-stars (at best). I had considered going with a middling rating (3-stars), but eventually decided to take it as a whole and rate based on my final impressions/feelings (2-stars).

Although I didn’t enjoy this story (overall), I loved the author’s writing style so much that I’ll definitely be giving her work another try in the future (just not in this series).

I loved the premise of this book, but ultimately the romance felt lukewarm to me. Which I know is surprising, given that this is erotica. Don't get me wrong - the sex scenes are steamy. But I didn't feel the connection between the main characters. There was a lot of tension between them, and while it was understandable given Jenie's background and the culture Koviye was born into, it seemed quite awkward. Koviye said, and thought, multiple times how he couldn't remain faithful to Jenie, he didn't have it in him to love one person, and it was a huge turnoff for most of the book. Just when they seemed to be getting close, he would think that or say it, and any appeal he had went down in my book. I went into this knowing that would be his mindset, but the length of time this lasted in the book was way too long.

It was also very out of the blue when it was revealed that Jenie had multiple sexual relations with women, and even towards the end, she had strong romantic feelings for one of her former lovers. It does lend to the idea that maybe this book should be marketed as LGBTQIA, since it has a lot of diversity in that respect. However, I was surprised how often it came up, even though the story has very little scenes depicting this. It was mentioned a lot, and I felt the story should have gone further in explaining Jenie's former relationships. It was teased, and it could definitely have been built upon more.

Ultimately, this book just wasn't my cup of tea. Perhaps another book by this author would be a better fit, and I will be sure to try it.

This book was hot as hell! I loved the writing and plot so much!!! it a new genre book for me and I have never read books like this but I loved it so much!!! The teasers are just blowing me off because it's so cool and now that I have read the book, I am just blown and out of words! They weren't supposed to fall in love with each other but still did! Some parts made me emotional, I just love this book. I don't know whether there would be any further books of this series but I can't wait to explore more books like this. I highly recommend it to read, and I hope people enjoy it as much as I did.

This was one very hot and steamy read.

Getting stuck on an alien planet that forces you to engage in sexy times otherwise you go insane is a very interesting concept. Jenie is a warrior who has a huge secret and she is drawn to an alien who can come into her dreams and give her the best night of her life.

Jenie is a fierce warrior who is trained in battle and one of the leaders of the rebellion. Nothing is going to stop her, not even an alien that calls to her. A secret that she hasn't shares with anyone is preventing her from working the desire toxin out of her system.

Koviye is intrigued by the humans and especially Jenie. He can't understand her reluctance to be with him though even for her mental health. However he is one determined man/alien.

This is the 3rd book in the series, and although I enjoyed it, I didn't find it quite as perfectly compelling as the first two. I guess part of it is I felt sort of cheated of Jenie's adventures with her crewmates when they first landed on the planet, and also the work-around of the dream sex rather than actual sex was a little confusing to me. I think the question of how it would feel to fight against fate is an interesting one and I liked the way that it was handled in the book for both Jenie and Koviye.

Sexy alien romance with all gender representation and a kick butt revenge plot. Yes, please.

Stolen Desire is the third book in the series The Planet of Desire, by Robin Lovett. When I started this book I had no idea that it was a series. Thankfully, the book can be read as a stand-alone series without having to read the previous books. Though after finishing this book, I am seriously considering adding the the entire series to my list of books to buy.

Stolen Desire had such a great synopsis and because of that, I had hopes that I would thoroughly enjoy it. Which I did.

The book follows Jenie a rebel Ten Systems soldier and Koviye an alien from the planet Jenie crashlands on. It starts strong and sexy, and action-packed. The author does an amazing job of adding details from the other books, especially back story, which out making the necessary knowledge too much to handle. Creating an entire species backstory and religion while adding other races and military agendas, is no small feat to balance.

This novel is more than just sex it’s two people learning to trust themselves and each other. Their relationship is a very emotional journey that is heartbreaking in a way that we as the reader can see their issues and know that if they just let each other have what they want, they’ll both be happy.

I absolutely love this book and will be waiting not so patiently to read the next one.

I liked this book more than the previous one because the hero is more beta than alpha. He's really respectful and honest towards the heroine so I could see why she felt in love with him and it was more than just sex.
This book is perfect for when you want to read quality erotica, there's a lot of talk about consent and the sexy time were really steamy and hot.
I would like to see more world-building tought, and more action because after so many sex scenes it became repetitive and I was a bit bored.

But overall: female friendly erotica, steamy sex scenes, sassy heroine and a hot and respectful hero.
