Overall I enjoyed this one. It gripped me from the very beginning and was full of suspense and tension. It’s not the best book I’ve read but it was enjoyable.

Loved this one! Kept my heart racing the whole time and on the edge of my seat! I was begging Lucy to go to the police! Fast paced and great twists!

This was hard to rate it's a 3 to 3.5 for me.
I was gripped to it, and enjoyed the ups and downs.
However the wrapping up and loose ends doesn't sit well with me and I'm struggling to get over it.

Why did Lucy not ring the police at the end?
Why did she not hire a lawyer when she had the money to?
Why did she not hire a PI, or fit security cameras or a body guard?
Why was there no follow up from estate agents or banks?
What happened to the transferred money?
Was there no fingerprints on the murder weapon?
Doesn't feel realistic to me .

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I’m Lucy, and I have a secret. I have a beautiful home, that I’m desperate to escape. But that’s not my secret. I tell my friends I’ve never wanted children, when I always have. But that’s not my secret. My husband is a celebrated surgeon, who tries to control me. But that’s not my secret.

Adele knows. Once upon a time, I knew everything about her and she knew everything about me. Best friends forever. But now our secret is beginning to surface. I can trust her more than anyone. We made a pact. And she’s never do anything to hurt me. Would she?

If someone knew your deepest darkest secret would you ask them for help? This is an excellent book, well written and at times heart stopping with its twists and turns.
I was gripped from the start and read the book in a couple of days.

Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC in return for an honest review

This was in fact a book that kept me guessing. Different aspects are brought up in the book and I began to wonder why, but in the end it all made sense. I would recommend this book

This book was just okay for me. I couldn't really build a connection with a lot of the characters. At some points the story just felt silly to me. I liked where the story was trying to go, though.

I received a free e-copy of The Friendship Pact by Alison James from NetGalley for my honest review.

I struggled connecting with this book. I like the idea of it and was excited to read it but it was just too unrealistic for me.

This book is the story of two childhood friends that have kept a secret. Several years later and now they are adults. Lucy is married to Marcus, who is a cardiac surgeon. He is rich, successful and a big bully. He is controlling and abusive. Lucy can't handle it anymore and knows she needs to escape. She calls her childhood friend Adele for help. The same friend that knows the secret. The phone calls leads to a series of events that will make you wonder if she made the right decision to make that call.

AMAZING!!! At first I thought the storyline might not one for me but honestly I can say after a couple of chapters in I was hooked! The characters really showed their true colors and it made the storyline come together.

Oh wow this book had me hooked from the very first page! I throughly enjoyed it and loved the twists init which was all the way through. I was really rooting for the main character and hoping that things would turn around for her.
I haven’t read any of this author’s books before but now that has changed and I will certainly be looking for more in the future.
My thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for sending me this free ebook in return for an honest review.

This book was ok for me, but I really didn't find it keeping my attention. For me it was a bit to predictable and lacked that me not wanting to put the book down. I know a lot of other people felt very different but I just couldn't really get into it.

Thanks to the publisher for an ARC to read and give my honest opinion.

The blurb and the beginning of the book seem to space two separate stories. One of a childhood friendship that made a pact and then a wife under the control of an abusive husband. Lucy met Adele as kids and they forged what has to be the strangest connection two people could ever have. Just goes to show that different sides of the tracks aren’t always different.

What did I like? The book was ok and Everything eventually came together but it was unsettling. I don’t understand why they never went to the police and reported versus dumping a body.

Would I buy this book? No, I just didn’t like the way it turned out. I felt Lucy was innocent in all so why did she go along with any of it.

Thoughts for the author? Hits and misses sometimes happen. Good luck, three stars for me.

3-4 stars. This book was a decent thriller in my opinion. It had some very good writing, which made sure to include the themes I love most in thrillers (thrills, chills, shocks), but something was missing for me making it hard to finally finish. It was overall a good read, but failed to hook me quickly and utterly. Overall, a good choice for those who enjoy thrillers.
Will make sure to buzz it up.

While there are a ton of people that really liked this book, it just wasn’t for me. The problem for me was the characters. I didn’t connect to any of them and found Lucy to be weak and unlikeable. That being said, it was well written and had an interesting plot. I think there are a lot of people that will really enjoy it.

Second book I’ve read by this author but I enjoyed the first one more. I really like the way she writes.

Lucy was a bit of a strange character for me. She had a backbone at times and then when she needed one she didn’t. She also made some unusual choices.

The story did throw you a curve here and there. It does go a bit over the top in the ending. It was entertaining and a quick read but nothing new.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and Bookouture for a copy in exchange for a review.

Lucy came from a solid middle class background. Adele came from the wrong side of the tracks but for a while they were best friends until a tragic event that they swore never to tell anyone about meant that Lucy changed schools & no longer saw Adele. She grew up, married a handsome rich surgeon, lived in a beautiful house- the perfect life to the outside world, but inside Lucy's world is very different. He husband is arrogant, violent & controlling. When Lucy meets Adele by chance she wonders if her old friend might be the one to help her escape the nightmare her life has become.

This book kept me hoping that Lucy would mange to escape from her despicable husband whilst wondering if she really was going the right way about it! I read it in a day as I had to find out! Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book

In “The Friendship Pact” by Alison James we meet Lucy and Adele would could not be more polar opposites. But their friendship comes with a pact – a secret that will follow them through life. And when it resurfaces it becomes hard to trust anyone.

Lucy has had to cope with two extremely difficult time periods in her life. Something dreadful happened in her childhood and something beyond impossible is going on in her present. As far as when Lucy was a child, she befriended Adele. Theirs was a tenuous friendship from the outset, but after a mutual friend, Joanne, lost her life in a horrible accident, Lucy and Adele lost the bond they had.

Years later, Lucy is married to a prominent surgeon. The least of her problems is that he decided they would never have children, despite how she felt about it. The depth of their problems, however, is the extreme controlling and domestic violence that she can't seem to get away from, no matter how hard she tries.

Running out of options, Lucy is forced to locate Adele and ask her for help. After their experiences as children begs the question: can Adele be trusted? Can she be the key to helping Lucy escape the clutches of her dangerous husband?

With one untimely event after another, combined with duplicity on more than one level, Lucy fights tooth and nail to take a hold of her life. All the while, with the exception of Lucy, the story is filled with page after page of rather unlikable characters. Lucy is head and shoulders above just about everyone else, and I rooted from her from the beginning until the thrilling end. Alison James has written another engaging story.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC to review in exchange for my honest opinion.
