Another great read by Paige Tyler. While I did not find these characters as engaging as most of Ms. Tyler's, I still enjoyed the story. It was interesting the way the heroine falling for a hunter story played out. And the big bad, good grief, that was terrifying. The plot did seem a bit chaotic, but, still an interesting read.

Received as an ARC from Netgalley.

The tenth book in this wonderful series and a great addition to the story of the Special Wolf Alpha Team (SWAT) team of Dallas. This is Rachel Bennet's story

We have met her in previous books and even the incident that is the catalyst for this book When the SWAT compound was attacked by hunters during a wedding. She gets a chance to shoot one of the hunters but for some reason she cannot pull the trigger and she hasn't been able to get over the guilt since. When she assigned to protect a District Attorney and her family during a trial There are also private contractors working to keep them safe and one of those is former SEAL Knox Lawson. Knox has a past that he isn't to happy about when he first left the Seals he got drawn into a group of hunters not realising exactly what they where. He suffered a catastrophic injury on one of the missions with the hunters and now he is starting to turn into a werewolf can Rachel help him What is the connection between these two and can they deny it. As danger grows for the DA and the danger is much closer than thy think Knox and Rachel will also fight a growing attraction to one another Can two damaged people actually find salvation in one another

Heat Factor: There is a reference to a Slip N’ Slide
Character Chemistry: Fated mates, but they work as a team very well
Plot: Forget the DA in danger, the clown had me clutching my pearls
Overall: Really fun

Shifters! Yay! I picked up this book because it’s part of a series called SWAT: Special Werewolf Alpha Team.

I mean, really. How, HOW can you not want to pick up this book and see what’s going on here? Nevermind that the entire pack of werewolf police are also alphas. Please leave your skepticism at the door. This ride’s about to get wild.

This is book gazillion (and by that I mean 10) in the SWAT series, so of course there are numerous characters that have had their own stories told and flitted in and out of several books. You don’t need to read the other books (I haven’t, having just discovered the series), but it would probably be fun to do so. Needless to say, there is backstory. I’m not going to get bogged down with that.

Tyler’s werewolves become werewolves not because they are bitten but because they have a genetic mutation that triggers when they experience a life-threatening trauma. In the case of our heroine, Rachel, it occurs when she is repeatedly stabbed by a creepy AF clown in a graveyard while on duty. That’s right. Coulrophobics, please do not pick up this book. I don’t like clowns or horror but I can deal, and yet: Holy Freaky Facepaint, Batman, this clown needed to die.

Flash forward a couple of years. Rachel’s been having some traumatic experiences on her SWAT team (at least a few, if the nine prior books are anything to go by), and she’s struggling. She’s also smelling something and is convinced she’s being followed.

It turns out Rachel is being followed--by her mate.

Knox got turned into a werewolf when he took a bullet meant for Rachel, and he’s been following her around for a couple of months trying to figure things out and knowing she’s the one to help him. Thankfully, Tyler addresses the stalker aspect with some humor, so we can get over the fact that that’s kind of weird and just let the fated mates thing happen for these two.

Side note: Tyler apparently doesn’t want to commit to fated mates, except that she does, so she refers to mates as The One. I found this distractingly gooey. Let’s all just agree that they’re mated and leave the goo in the bottle.

Knox and Rachel do some work on their relationship, especially because she doesn’t trust him due to his past, but the fated mates aspect of shifter books seems specifically designed to allow the romance to happen without having to make it a real focus of the story. Knox will protect Rachel at any cost, so when the suspense plot goes down, we’re there for it.

Now, this book has two suspense plotlines tracking at the same time. Rachel and Knox are working a security detail for a DA who is in the middle of prosecuting a Very Bad Man. Someone tried to blow up her car, so the police put SWAT on the security detail (Rachel) while her husband hired private security (Knox). This plotline = “Who’s trying to kill the DA? Let’s stop it.”

The second plotline is tied to Rachel’s PTSD and some of the problems she’s been having for the two months prior to the start of Chapter 1. She’s started seeing the clown everywhere and she’s convinced she’s losing her mind. When I read the clown in the prologue I was like, “Oh hell no.” Then I thought it was over. IT WASN’T. THAT IS WHY THE CLOWN NEEDS TO DIE. This plotline = “Let’s get Rachel help before she rips out someone’s throat with her claws because the evil clown is tormenting her.”

While the tone and presentation of most of this book tracks pretty closely with a police/SEALs suspense novel, please remember that there are shifters here, and we are actually reading a paranormal book. The stuff that goes down as the book reaches its climax is bananapants amazing. If you like romantic suspense, even if you’re not all that into shifters, you’ll probably have a great time reading this book. If you like romantic suspense and shifters, what are you still doing reading this review?

This is #10 in the series but it can be a stand alone. I really enjoyed this story in the series. It really takes us through the PTSD issues so many are facing right now. I thought Rachel was a great character letting us see that not only men are affected by PTSD. I also thought she was a strong independent woman who was just going through a lot in life.

Knox is a great character too. It took me a bit to get to understand him but then I found myself liking him.
Another great addition to the series.

Wolf Rebel is the tenth book in Paige Tyler’s SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team Series. This book is a romantic suspense novel filled with danger, intrigue, fantastic characters, intense chemistry and heart-melting romance.

Rachel Bennett and Knox Larson have been drawn to each other since their eyes met across a battlefield of shooting guns two months ago. Fate has brought them together again, but will their love for each other be enough to battle against Knox’s past and Rachel’s consuming nightmares? Read it and find out!

I truly enjoyed reading Rachel and Knox’s story. I can’t wait for the next book in the series. All the books in this series contain a happily ever after and can be read as a standalone, however, reading it in order will give you a better appreciation for the characters and the series itself.

(4.5) I am loving the new little bits that Paige Tyler is throwing out there to keep this series fresh. This can be read as a stand alone, do don't let that hold you back, but I say go for the whole enchilada and read the series. Rachel, ex cop, werewolf has a bad case of PTSD. Knox, was a hunter. WAS, its ok, he is no more, and he knew that was wrong. Knox is now a newbie werewolf, in fact so new we get to be there as he learns the ropes so to speak. Just the fact that we have a hunter (ok - ex) and a werewolf is a new take. Makes me sit up and pay attention. This is taking place amid trying to protect a DA and her family. We have an ex cop werewolf with bad PTSD, ex hunter newbie werewolf trying to learn the ropes and they are trying to protect a family where gang, cartel are trying to take them down! Whoosh just that is enough to ratchet up the suspense. That's not all, her PTSD... its from a creepy clown, more so than just a clown, there is a reason behind the clown and I had to go google and look it up. (Sorry no spoilers) The DA...well there is something behind the scenes there too and on top of all of this, Rachel is trying to keep the pack from knowing Knox was a hunter! Phew one wild ride. Thank you Paige Tyler, Sourcebooks Casablanca and Net Galley for the arc. All thoughts and opinions are freely given and were unsolicited.

This is a great read! Rachel and Knox had quite an unusual start. The way this author handles the transition into becoming a wolf shifter is great. I will never look at a clown in the same way again. Highly recommend .

I've been waiting for this book since I read the last one. I had to know why Rachel let the hunter get away. This one didn't disappoint. Rachel and Knox meeting for the first (actually speaking) time was entertaining. The twist of Rachel's nightmares that we learned about a few books ago caught me off guard and I was amazed by the author's creativity there.

The hunter turning into what he was hunting is poetic. That answered the question I've had for a while. I really liked the DA's little girl and how the author threw in some family issues that had to be worked through. There were a couple of twists that I didn't expect at all and that made the read even better. Overall it was a great addition to this series.

It was a 4/5 for me and I can't wait for more of these Dallas shifters!

Rachel, a police officer, lived my nightmare. Actually, it is probably the nightmare of a lot of people. She works to rebuild her life and moves to Dallas to work with a SWAT team. There’s a lot going on in this book. The characters are interesting and relatable. I enjoyed this book and will look further into the series. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team #10, I had been anticipating this one and it did not disappoint. This can be read as a standalone but the entire series is worth the read.

Rachel is still relatively new to the whole wolf thing, she still has nightmares about the event that activated her wolf DNA, it would give me nightmares too. They were getting better but ever since L.A. (the events in the last book) they have gotten worse and Rachel is afraid she's losing her mind because now she's started to see and hear things. It doesn't help that every so often she gets a delectable scent in the air that's gone as quickly as it appears.

Knox is known to make impulsive decisions, like joining the Navy, becoming a SEAL, leaving the Navy but his last impulsive decision put in hip deep in trouble by joining The Hunters. He believed their scare tactics it wasn't until his first mission with them that he regretted his rash decision because in the end he ended up as one of werewolves. He saved one by taking a bullet meant for her, she could have killed him but she let him go. He saw her again in L.A. and knew that if there was anyone her could talk to about what happened to him it would be her.

Two things happen in this book, aside from the smokin' hot romance between Rachel and Knox, The SWAT is put on protection duty of the DA whose life is being threatened because her most recent case. Her husband has also hired a private firm to handle security so SWAT will be working side by side with them bring together Rachel and Knox. Thankfully no one else knows about Knox being a former Hunter but Rachel and one other, but he isn't there right now. The other thing is that Rachel thinks she is losing her mind the crazed man who tried to kill her keeps appearing keeps talking to her. She agrees to help Knox learn who to be a wolf bringing them in even closer contact with each other, they feel safe with each other, trusting each other came easily. Knox knows about what happened and he wants to help but how can you protect someone from their own mind.

Overall, it is a great read. I loved Rachel and Knox. There aren't very many more of these guys left so I hope that means Tyler's introduction to the FBI special unit will lead to a spin-off series.

This is the second book in the series that I have read. The story is interesting and keeps you guessing. I just didn’t feel that the trauma Knox went thru was big enough for the conversion as compared to the others in the series .

This is the 10th book in the SWAT team series and I would absolutely read the previous books before this one or else you will probably be lost as to what is going on. In this one we get Rachel Bennett and Knox Lawson's story. Rachel was a police officer in TN when she was injured. Now she is on the Texas SWAT team but she has nightmares and PTSD after what happened. Knox is a former Navy SEAL who was also a part of the hunter group that came after the team. Not knowing that werewolves were real, he doesn't know what is happening to himself or just what he is truly mixed up in. And he seeks out Rachel to ask for her help, not realizing what she truly is to him. Now they have to not only protect themselves and the ones they care about but figure out how to get rid of something no one has any clue about!

I absolutely loved this one! I was wondering how this author would bring about Knox's redemption and I loved how his story played out in this. He has dealt with a lot of things but he is still trying to stay true to himself and his own values which pits him against the people who should have his back. Rachel thought she was going crazy and when you find out what it really is, it kinda makes you wonder just what else is out there that no one else knows about! These two together are perfect. They know when to back off and when to stand at each other's side and most of all-they accept each other for who they are. I loved it!

Fun action packed paranormal romance. Rachel is a wolf shifter dealing with PTSD and working for SWAT in Dallas. The romance was fun and her descriptions of the change were great.

Wolf Rebel by Paige Tyler is the 10th book in her wonderful SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team series. As noted in previous reviews for this series, I love how Tyler always gives us wonderful, romance suspense stories, that are exciting, pulse pounding action filled, as well as great couples and hot alpha men that are part of the SWAT team.

Rachel Bennett, our heroine, is a former cop turned werewolf, and is a member of the Special Wolf Alpha team. Rachel suffers terrible nightmares (PTSD) from when she was seriously injured as a cop fighting off a deranged clown in Tennessee, which also caused her to become a werewolf. The nightmares have begun to surface again, causing Rachel to be sleep deprived. She is one of the Swat members assigned to protect an Assistant District attorney and family during a trial, which has caused a number of threats against the attorney.

Knox Lawson, our hero, is a former Navy seal, who is now working for a security firm. Knox was part of a group of hunters that went after werewolves, until he quit when he realized that they were bad people; which he also got shot defending one the Swat team members, who was under attack. The person he took the shot saving the swat member was Rachel. In a short time, the injury will cause Knox to begin to display werewolf tendencies, and he goes to Rachel to get help learning how to deal with his new ability. At first Rachel wants no part of him, but realizes he saved her life, and was not part of the hunter group, instead working with a security firm, also protecting the attorney. Knox was drawn to Rachel, especially after hearing her screaming during one of her nightmares, and slowly they both realize that they are “the One” for each other. Both have their own issues; Knox with controlling his temper and his wolf and Rachel finding a way to get past her nightmares that have become very real.

Tyler continues to change the game a bit in this story; besides werewolves, and vampires, Wolf Rebel brings us an evil creepy entity in the form of the clown that Rachel sees, and is more than a nightmare. This was a haunting new horror aspect, with the entity being able to switch to other bodies, and not only traumatizing Rachel, Knox, Diego, and but me too. Lol

What follows is an exciting, intense, action-packed adventure that will keep us glued to our seats, especially when this entity becomes very real. The last 1/3 of the book was a wild exciting race to save the attorney, as well as their own lives. The defendant in the trial, who was very powerful was hell bent on murdering the attorney, causing so many dangerous situations for all,; there was a surprising twist, as well as the part with Rachel and the entity also had us holding our breaths.

Paige Tyler does it again with another intense, intriguing, exciting and sexy story. I loved Rachel and Knox together, and got a kick out of Rachel and some of her teammates finding a way for Knox to stay with them. Wolf Rebel is another fabulous addition to this series. If you have not started this series, I suggest you do so, as it is a fun, exciting and sexy read and Paige Tyler is an author you need to be reading.

This was another fun one from Paige Tyler. As with the other SWAT books, this one follows a couple of wolves as they discover their soulmates. Rachel has been on the SWAT team for a little bit and Knox is a newly turned wolf. They are both working through some things but end up helping each other. There's lots of action and sexy bedroom scenes. Always a good time.

I find it interesting that the further along in the series, the author introduces in other supernatural/paranormal things beyond just werewolves. It looks like she is starting a spin-off series with the STAT group that has been a part of a couple of books.

Creepy entry into the Wolf SWAT team stories, and I loved it. For quite some time, I’ve wished that the “origin” part of the book of how the character became a werewolf would be more developed as part of the plot. Bit did I get my wish! Rachel’s nachtmahr was completely spooky and I understand her nightmares!

The romance between Knox and Rachel was good. I thoroughly enjoyed the story.

WOLF REBEL by Paige Tyler is a well-written paranormal romantic suspense novel and is the tenth novel in the Special Wolf Alpha Team series. It worked fine as a standalone novel even though there are some references to events that took place in prior books.

Our initial protagonist, Rachel Bennett, was a police officer in Tennessee when she was badly injured and is now suffering from nightmares and PTSD. After the initial scene, the rest of the story takes place in Texas where she is a member of a Dallas police department SWAT werewolf team. Her team is assigned to protect an Assistant District Attorney and her family during a trial. Former Navy SEAL Knox Lawson seeks help from Rachel when he finds out he is turning into a werewolf.

This is a paranormal take on the enemies to lovers’ scenario that has been popular recently. However, most of the book is focused around the suspense/thriller side, not the romance side. The story grabbed my attention in the prologue and it never let up. There are a lot of characters in the book, but I did not have any trouble keeping them separate. Rachel is a strong, but seriously troubled, female lead.

Overall, it was action-packed, engaging, suspenseful, sinister and compulsively readable. It has one very steamy scene in it. Additionally, it contains an underlying serious theme around PTSD. I thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it to my friends that enjoy this genre.

Many thanks to SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca and Paige Tyler for a digital ARC of this novel via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. Opinions are mine alone and are not biased in any way.

In the previous book, we learned that Rachel is plagued by nightmares that keep her from sleeping. We also learned that she feels guilty that she froze and let a werewolf hunter get away during an ambush of the SWAT compound. That hunter, Knox, then encountered her on her previous assignment in LA. Knox had taken a bullet for her at the compound, which jump-started his becoming a werewolf. He followed Rachel across the country hoping he could learn more about what was happening to him.

Rachel and Knox end up on the same security detail protecting the assistant D.A. prosecuting a crime lord. Rachel is SWAT and Knox is private security. Rachel’s nightmares become worse and more realistic. Knox is the only one who can calm her.

The nightmares become deadly, Rachel has to keep Knox’s past a secret, characters are betrayed, and suspense is high.

Highly recommended.

Prediction: Some day we’re going to find out what and who Kat is, and she’s going to be Connor’s The One.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

I am so happy Rachel's story is out! I wondered about her not shooting the hunter in the previous book and how that was going to be explained and the trust issue with the pack.

With a new threat to Rachel and the pack, the story keeps you wondering if the threat is real or imagined! Rachel should also not trust Knox when she finds out that he was with the hunters but until later in the book, you wonder why that is.

Good to see the other members of the pack and can't wait for Diego to find his One, maybe in the next book! I love when we see Kahki, Gage, and others and how they interact with each other.

A side job adds to the drama and action so it was hard to put the book down as there is also something going on and I stayed up way too late to finish reading to the end of the book but it was worth it!
