Sarah Wilson is a divorced former military wife. She is living near an Air Force Base in Massachusetts. She has a business that sets up and runs garage sales for her customers. Until now, it never occurred to her that she might be fencing stolen goods.

A garage sale is going nicely when police arrive and accuse her of selling stolen items. The people who hired her, who she mistakenly believed owned the house where she was selling, are nowhere to be found. It looks pretty bad for Sarah.

As if that weren’t enough, a friend is accused of murdering another military officer in her squadron. Michelle is the most obvious suspect and the police aren’t looking too hard to find another.

Sarah knows the local police in her case are also not spending a lot of time trying to verify her protestations of innocence and find the couple who set her up. She feels the need to do some investigating of her own to clear both her name and her friend’s.

I especially enjoyed the two story lines which had nothing to do with each other. Ms. Harris wove the two together well. While Sarah learns things while investigating, nothing is revealed to the reader ahead of time. We don’t even have hints. This is how investigations work in real life. In many cases facts come slowly and with a lot of work.

As a military wife of 30+ years, I appreciate that Ms. Harris explains military acronyms for those not familiar with them. Her picture of life as a military spouse is close to accurate. Her fictional base is set close to Boston, but uses a name similar to a town near an Army post in Massachusetts. I found that a bit confusing at times and wanted to relate everything to Army vs. Air Force. (There are slight differences)

This was a really fun story. So often the protagonist does really stupid things in investigating and I find myself screaming at the book, “Don’t do that!” Sarah is determined, but not totally foolish in her actions. I find that refreshing in the world of cozy mysteries.

SHE’S GOT THE GOODS . . .
As a former military spouse, Sarah Winston’s learned a little about organizing, packing, and moving. Her latest project sounds promising: a couple of tech-industry hipsters, newly arrived in her Massachusetts town, who need to downsize. Unfortunately, when Sarah tries to sell their stuff, she discovers it’s all stolen—and she’s the unwitting fence.

BUT SARAH’S PROBLEMS ARE JUST BEGINNING
Michelle, an old friend of Sarah’s from the Air Force base, is in line for a promotion—but not everyone is happy about it, and she’s been hit with an anonymous discrimination complaint. When one of the men she suspects is behind the accusations turns up dead in Michelle’s car, Sarah needs to clear Michelle’s name—as well as her own for selling hot merchandise. And she’ll have to do it while also organizing a cat lady’s gigantic collection of feline memorabilia, or they’ll be making room for Sarah in a jail cell . . .

There were twists and turns at every moment! Kept me on my toes!

Sarah Winston is running a garage sale for the Greens when the cops arrive and accuse her of selling stolen items. She pleads her innocence, but the police are skeptical, and when they can't find the people she says she's working for, they arrest Sarah.

While she's out on bond, Sarah goes out with her old friend Michelle, who is in line for a promotion on the Air Force base. But she's also facing an anonymous discrimination complaint. After a night of partying, Sarah's brother Luke drives the pair home. When they come back in the morning they find a dead body in Michelle's car.

It's up to Sarah to get to the bottom of things, since officials seem destined to accept the easy solution, which is the wrong one.

The Sarah Winston Garage Sale mysteries are the perfect cozy series. They have rich characters, intricate plots, and contain lots of laughs. I love Sarah and her friends, and it makes for hour of reading fun.

This time around, Sarah is faced with two mysteries, one of them involving her own arrest. Seeing Sarah arrested added a lot of depth to the story. Her emotions in this book are close to the surface, and as I read it I felt what she was feeling. It made Sarah very real to me. That's why it really impressed me that while she was facing her own problems and the reality of jail time, that she threw herself into the action of trying to save her friend Michelle. Solving two mysteries at once is tough, but Sarah did it with style.

All the while she's doing this she's also running her garage sale business, including setting up a cat garage sale that I wanted to be real so I could make a few purchases.

The Garage Sale mysteries have it all, and Let's Fake a Deal is a fantastic addition to the series.

I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley.

I was just recently recommended this series, so when I had a chance to read book #7, I jumped at it. How did this series go unnoticed by me for so long? I am so happy that I read it. I loved that it combined the military with garage sales. Sarah is the ex-wife to an Air Force officer. She started organizing garage sales and she has turned it into a business. This book started off with Sarah getting arrested for stolen goods, so naturally she has to investigate to clear her name! I loved the fact that the author explained any military acronym that she used as not everyone has that knowledge. I also loved Kitty, a client, and Toulouse, Kitty's cat. Kitty has a cat merchandise obsession, but even she finally had to say it was getting to be a little much. Sarah was a believable character and I really liked her. She also has a great boyfriend, who is a district attorney and he can cook!! I actually did not guess the murderer beforehand. Overall, the book was a fun read and now I have to read books 1-6! If you liked Sara Rosett's Ellie Avery mysteries, you will enjoy this series. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the copy. All opinions expressed are my own.

This is the first book I have read by Sherry Harris. I loved her characteea and how they developed throughout the plot. The plot moved along well and kept me not only entertained but on my toes. The mystery had twists and turns I sometimes didn't see coming. I can't wait to start this series from the beginning!

Sherry Harris knows cozy mysteries, knows garage sales, and knows how to keep a reader on the edge of her seat! Let's Fake a Deal opens with garage sale organizer Sarah being questioned by the police about the hot goods her current clients are selling, and it's not long before Sarah's problems escalate from possession of stolen goods to murder! I love this series - the story line progresses nicely with the main/side characters and I'm always kept guessing as to whodunit it and why up until the very end. Although I'd recommend starting with the first book (Tagged for Death) if you haven't read any of the other books yet, it's not necessary as Ms. Harris is great at not revealing too many details of the previous stories. Let's Fake a Deal is another gem in the Sarah Winston Garage Sale Mystery Series. A+++

"Let's Fake a Deal" by Sherry Harris in the "Sarah Winston Garage Sale Mystery" series. Even though this is the first book I have read in the series I was able to follow along easily so it can be read as a stand alone. I really enjoyed it and practically read in one sitting and have since purchased the other books in the series.

The protagonist Sarah Winston is a strong, independent woman. The characters are well rounded and seem real as I could relate to each of them. The town of Ellington, Massachusetts is interesting.

There were enough twists to keep me intrigued and wanting to know how it ends. The plot and story were good and seemed to flow at a good pace. This has been added to my favourite series pile.

I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a cozy filled with warm, diverse characters and a small town atmosphere.

I requested and received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from Kensington Books and NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my OWN.

Dollycas’s Thoughts

Sarah Winston barely opens a garage sale for a couple wanting to downsize when the police show up. The couple is nowhere to be found and everything she was trying to sell for them appears to be stolen. Before she knows it she is on the ground and under arrest. As she tries to find the couple that set her up she is also trying to clear her friend Michelle from murder charges. Michelle was up for a promotion with the Air Force when someone files a complaint against her. One of the men she had pegged for the discrimination report turns up dead in HER car! Sarah is also working on a fabulous feline garage sale too. That is if she stays out of jail long enough for the Cat-tastic Garage Sale to take place.

Hold on tight, Sherry Harris has twisted together a terrific mystery that is impossible to put down!

The first scene grabbed my attention with a premise I never would have thought of and turns Sarah’s business inside out. Then we move to Michelle’s issue which is too prevalent in the military today sans the murder of course. This author doesn’t shy away from hot topics. She gives a wonderful fictional spin that makes her readers aware and informed.

These characters stole my heart back in the first book Tagged for Death and they continue to impress me book after book. Sarah continues to grow after her divorce while trying to start her new relationship with Seth. Sarah does have a huge heart and is very trusting, which was a big flaw this time. Small towns just aren’t what they used to be anymore.

I love the way recurring characters pop up even in small ways in each story. Whenever Mike “Big Cheese” Titone appears on the scene it always makes me smile. He is not your typical mobster when Sarah is involved. The dialogues between all the characters are excellent and laced with the perfect amount of humor.

This mystery is carefully plotted and develops in a surprising way. Ms. Harris faked me out more than once. Every twist and turn had my mind spinning. I was in the dark right up to the fantastic final reveal and perfectly delighted to be so.

This is a brilliant addition to this series. It is my new favorite! In fact, it will be the next book on my Bests Reads list for 2019! I absolutely loved it from beginning to end!

I do want to say each book can be read all on its own, but Sarah Winston is an extraordinary protagonist and to truly understand her and where she is in her life now I recommend reading all the books in order.

This is a series that has a solid place on my to be read list. It never fails to engage me, giving me a page turning, satisfying mystery. In this entry, Sarah Winston has been hired to sell some possessions of a couple who are new to town and find that they need to downsize. Sarah sets up a garage sale and then is shocked when the police show up and tell her that she is selling stolen goods. Sarah is being accused of being a fence and that's jail time. She has been conned and the real guilty parties are nowhere to be found. In order to stay out of a jail cell wearing an orange jumpsuit, Sarah starts her own investigating. If that wasn't enough to keep her focused, her friend from the Air Force Base, Michelle is also in big time hot water. Her promotion has hit the skids when she is accused of discrimination. No name was attached to the complaint but one man is at the top of her suspect list. Too bad he is later found dead in her car and she is the prime suspect. What's another investigation for Sarah, it's what friends do for each other.
Even though there are two mysteries going on, it was not confusing and I read way, way past my bedtime to see how Sarah was going to get them off the police radar. I read it in one day and now I have to wait until book #8, Sell Low, Sweet Harriet comes out on December 31, 2019.

Let's Fake a Deal by Sherry Harris is the 7th book in the Garage Sale Mystery series. I love this series, and this book is no exception. Sarah Winston is a well developed main character, who I really like. Sarah makes a living by organizing sales for people and businesses. Sarah once again is caught up in trouble, when she is having a garage sale for a young couple, and all the items are stolen. With the couple no where in sight, Sarah is arrested. On top of that, Sarah goes out with a friend, the next morning when they come to pick up her friend's car there is a dead body in it. This mystery has it all, a great plot that is well developed along with great characters. I strongly recommend this book for all cozy mystery lovers, To get the most out of the books read them in order, you won't be disappointed. I can not wait for Sarah's next adventure. Strongly recommend.

I reviewed a digital arc provided by NetGalley and Kensington Publishing. Thank you.

10 stars! Oh, gosh! Wow! Sherry Harris surprises me with every addition to the Sarah Winston Garages Sale Mystery series, and the newest, Let's Fake a Deal, is one of the big shockers in so many ways! It is no wonder that so many people adore the series; fans old and new will be shouting their enthusiasm for this seventh book in an awesome series.
Well-rounded characters who touch our hearts, plots that intrigue and at times take our breath away, and a sense of community that gives Sarah the strength to keep going in tough times, are all hallmarks of the series. I find it difficulty to say much about what I loved best about Let's Fake a Deal because so many of the most exciting elements would offer spoilers.

Although I have the book on pre-order, I requested and received a copy from NetGalley. That is how much I love this series! The book is just out and I am ready for the next one, but Let's Fake a Deal was satisfying enough to hold me for a while. I need to block a time to reread this one the day it comes out! It is that kind of story.

A fresh and original new cozy mystery involving a major scam, a women obsessed with cats and a murder. The question is can protagonist Sarah Winston clear herself from theft charges, a friend from murder charges and pull off a Cat-tastic Garage Sale.

This is the seventh book in the Sarah Winston Garage Sale Mystery series. I have not read the first six but I had no trouble following the story. Although, I am curious about what happened with her ex husband that she mentions more than once. I guess I will need to go back and read some of the earlier books. Thanks to Kensington books and NetGalley for an ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.

Let’s Fake a Deal, the seventh book in the Sarah Winston Garage Sale Mysteries by Sherry Harris, is a clean and entertaining read. The action starts in the first paragraph, the storyline is well plotted, and the characters are well developed and affable. There are two mysteries to solve, plenty of viable suspects, and enough twists and turns to keep the reader engaged throughout the book. Ms. Harris provides enough character background that this book can be read as a standalone. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading well-crafted cozy mysteries.

Sarah Winston lives in Ellington, Massachusetts and loves garage sales. She manages a virtual garage sale website, provides professional services to people having garage sales, does volunteer work for several organizations, and is dating Seth Anderson, the district attorney for Middlesex County. Sarah is running a garage sale in Billerica, Massachusetts for Kate and Alex Green, a young couple who recently relocated from Indiana and are downsizing when police arrived saying they received a tip that everything being sold was stolen. She explains the house belongs to friends of the young couple and that they are inside making coffee, but they are nowhere to be found, the house is completely empty, and Sarah is arrested for receiving, possessing, and selling stolen property. After an evening celebrating the upcoming promotion of her old friend, Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Michelle Diaz, Sarah calls her brother, to take them home. When he takes them to pick up their cars the next morning, they discover the body of Major Blade, who had been harassing Michelle the previous evening, in her car. Even though she hired Vincenzo DiNapoli, criminal attorney and his investigator, and has Mike ‘the Big Cheese’ Titone, who has mob connections, helping her, Sarah finds herself immersed in finding the Greens and figuring out why they set her up, who murdered Blade and placed him in her friend’s car, and keep her business afloat.

I received an Advance Reader Copy of this book from NetGalley and voluntarily reviewed it.

A well written story with great characters, and the plot is much better than the last book in the series. It's not the fastest of books, but still a very enjoyable story.

If you haven't read this series yet, please, start now. You'll be fine with this as a jump off point but you'll find yourself so taken by Sarah that you'll want to go back and read the others. This time out, Sarah, who is now divorced from her husband, is dealing with two big things- she's found herself in a pickle because a couple she did a garage sale had stolen all the stuff! And she's the one who technically sold it. Even worse, though, her friend, Michele, a Lt Colonel in the Air Force, has been accused of harassment, possibly by Major Blade, who is then found dead in his car. Sarah, of course, has to investigate and make sure her friend is cleared. No spoilers but this is a good topical situation. I don't know of any other cozies that dip into the military world and certainly this doesn't go too far but Harris it well and it shows. Great characters, a good sense of humor, and a nice plot line made this an excellent read. Thanks to net galley for the ARC. A really good read and I'm looking forward to the next one.

The book is fun to read and entertaining but somehow I couldn't connect to the story.
I felt it was forced, lots of things happening but not a lot of development and issues seem to to be solved almost by magic.
I look forward to the next instalment, this one wasn't my cup of tea.
Many thanks to Kensington Books and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

Who knew garage sales could get your arrested? Sarah Winston is running a garage sale for a nice young couple from the Midwest. Little does she know the merchandise is stolen. In Let's Fake a Deal by Sherry Harris, Sarah is shocked to suddenly find herself face down on the ground and handcuffed by an overzealous police officer. But the worst is yet to come when her friend Lt. Colonel Michelle Garcia ia accused of murder.

Another Garage Sale Murder Mystery
I loved this book! This cozy Mystery involves 2 desperate crimes that occur at about the same time under vastly different circumstances. It is a wild ride that makes perfect sense in the end. I also enjoy the memorabilia the author discusses as the main character prices items for her garage sales. So interesting and entertaining. I received this ARC book for free from Net Galley and this is my honest review.

I liked that this book moved Sarah Winston out of the rut the last couple of books had been in. I didn't love the ending (the wrap up didn't make sense with most of the rest of the books; not enough clues had been laid) but it was overall an enjoyable read.

The book opens with Sarah starting a garage sale for a cute young couple who are downsizing now that they've moved to town. Too bad all of the furniture is actually stolen and Sarah is the number one suspect. But her friend Michelle has it even worse. In line for a promotion at the Air Base, she's just had a big charge made against her and she's not allowed to know what it is or who made it. However, she can pretty well figure it out. Too bad he ends up dead in her car.
So Sarah is trying not only to save her friend Michelle but herself (and her DA boyfriend Seth whose reputation is also on the line). It's a lot to juggle but she might just figure out some things along the way.

A clever double mystery. One is a murder, the other is stolen goods. Our lovely protagonist, Sarah, is involved with both cases, of course. This is an engaging series. Many of the characters from past books are mentioned. Garage sales and military play key roles. There is also a cat.
