I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It had everything. The main character Larkin has had to endure a lot in her life but she still has time for others. The way she helps Amanda and does not give up on her abusive mother. There is a strong storyline and it is nice to have a happy ending. Ido recommend that you read this book.

This was an absolutely fabulous book. It tugged at your heart. It made you want to stand up and cheer Larkin on in her difficult life. Highly recommended book!
This is a story about Larkin a girl who grew up in one of the most difficult families. If she had not met Nona as a teenager she would not have survived. Fast forward many years and Larkin is back in town working as Nona’s stable manager and helping her mother during her battle with cancer. Sadly Jackie does not have a kind word ever for Larkin.
Amanda is a young girl who shows up every day to watch the horses. She has also had major challenges in her young life. Larkin feels a real connection with Amanda even though Amanda is unable to talk. Amanda’s dad Jeremy is doing all he can to help his daughter. Jeremy and Larkin have history from working at the farm together as teenagers.
Will the ghosts from Larkin’s past drive her to leave once again? Will Larkin be able to reach Amanda and get her talking again? Will Larkin and Jeremy have a chance at a real relationship?

I could not put this book down! Larkin has grown up in a very abusive situation and saved by Nona who offered her a job working with horses, mainly cleaning stalls at first. Larkin is a loner and has deep trust issues. When her mother becomes ill she returns to become Nona's barn manager and try to help her mother who really doesn't want her there. She also reunites with Jeremy who worked with her on the farm when the were teenagers. He is now a widowed father with a teenage daughter. Will the farm and horses help Larkin overcome the demons of her past? Will Larkin be able to help Jeremy's daughter, Amanda overcome her fears of trusting? Deals with abuse and may be difficult for some to read but the author draws you into the story and holds on till the end.
