A cute, high school romance with a baseball spin?

This YA story would be perfect for readers looking for a fun, light-hearted romance to get their hands on before the school-year.

The dialogue just brings out another level of cuteness between the two love interests. It's a great enemies-to-lovers banter that you can come to find from the publisher.

I gave this one 3 out of 5 stars. While this is a lighter read, there was a bit of predictability and the more typical drama that we come to find with this genre. Overall, it was a decent read and would be a great one for high-school romance lovers!

Listen, I don't think I'll ever have anything but good things to say about (most) Entangled Crush novels. Are they a little cliche? Try "a lot". Am I okay with that? More than okay.
Announcing Trouble is a story about a girl with a few....things against baseball for a number of reasons. So, when she somehow ends up being a baseball announcer alongside a guy she's determined to hate for what he represents. Garrett Reeves. Ex baseball player who's determined to get back into the game. Cocky, and ridiculously good looking. Josie and Garrett end up getting closer and closer, as they work together to win a competition. And you can guess the rest.

Characters:
As far as lead characters go, Josie was a fabulous one. Strong, determined, smart, a few trust issues, yes, but still eventually willing to move past them? Tick, tick, tick and tick. I personally found the psychology and the human behavioural tendencies within her really interesting to think about, and Fellner Dominy has done a great job ensuring authenticity within her actions.
As for Garrett? Oh, Garrett. I didn't think that I would like a baseball player. But he won me over. Sweet, handsome and determined to get Josie to love baseball again, he made for an excellent male lead. And if you've read the book, you'll know why I love the end of the story so much :)
Storyline and Plotting:
If I did have one nit-picky thing to note it might just be that I didn't totally feel as though there was a 'lot' going on with the storyline. Yes, a couple of fights here and there, but overall, a fairly calm story. I did love the ending and the way that the story was resolved - it made a lot of sense for the characters and was sufficiently satisfying. The pace of the novel moved fast enough, but perhaps a little more would have been nice.
Overall:
What a great story. Heartwarming and adorable, with a sweet love story to boot. Absolutely would recommend, especially if you have a thing for baseball players (like Josie, whether she wants to admit it or not).

There was a famous baseball player from back in the day, who I need to steal a line from, because lately, baseball's been very, very good to me. I have recently read a quite a few fantastic baseball books, and I am adding Announcing Trouble to that list.

No lie, I was laughing and wearing a stupid grin for almost the entirety of this book, the other parts, I was wiping a few tears from my eyes. It was a really great emotional experience for me, and I attribute that largely to the wonderful characters and this fabulous set up.

Josie used to love the game, but her love turned to hate, when baseball seemed to rob her of so many things. Enter Garrett, a former star pitcher, who injured himself, but was willing to do almost anything to get back in the game.

In an effort to maintain some connection to the sport he loved, Garrett began broadcasting the games at school. Appalled by the terrible color commentary, Josie burst into the booth to show them how it was done, and a stellar partnership began.

These two together were a thing of beauty. Their rhythm and the way they played off each other was magical, and this was happening both inside and outside the booth. The banter and chemistry were off the charts fantastic. Though, this book leaned towards the lighter side, it was also quite an emotional story.

Both Garrett and Josie were dealing with big losses in their lives. Josie dealt with it by abandoning her dreams and settling, while Garrett was more willing to fight for his. The discussions these two and their friends shared regarding their passions, dreams, and futures were very thoughtful, and it was at times agonizing while I waited to see how it all panned out.

Dominy really built the case for why Josie should stay away from Garrett, but my heart was screaming for these two to get together. I was surprised by a few decisions that were made, but in the end, I was left feeling like like a kid in a puppy cuddle - all smiles and warm fuzzies.

Quick recap:

☑️ Fabulous characters
☑️ Adorable romance
☑️ Fantastic friendships
☑️ Great and loving parents
☑️ Smile inducing
☑️ Amazing banter
☑️ A grand gesture

This book sort of had it all for me, and it was done, in my opinion, really well.

I am hard pressed to believe that anyone, who reads this book could resist falling in love with Josie and Garrett. These two won my heart, and I was full-on rooting for them to achieve their dreams and get their HEA.

Announcing Trouble came out of left field for me and I am so glad it did. I chose to sign up on a whim seeing it was a YA romance with baseball elements and I was intrigued from the first scene. Rather than focus on characters who actually play, we get almost all of the baseball action through the commentating booth. I haven’t come across a sports romance that dealt with the sportscaster type and that made this book new and exciting.

Josie would be the more scorned and broken of the two, mentally, but her smart mouth and quick wit stole the show (quite literally in the opening scene). Her battle of choosing her pride over the game she knows she has denied loving since her dad walked out was tricky and heartbreaking to witness, but out of it came character growth I feel like I only get in YA novels. It was fulfilling to see her chase her dreams by the end.

Garrett. His drive to succeed in whatever he does is unmatched. Honestly, it is more than drive; it is straight-up tenacity. His charming ways will have your face smiling and your heart laughing. He is confident, but never really shown as cocky which was a nice surprise.

This book is refreshing and will fill your soul with a delight only coming-of-age novels can.

Announcing Trouble...

"Annnnnnnnnnd next at bat is Josie 'Safe' Walters. Josie comes from a baseball family. She really seems to know her stuff. Watch how she takes a cautious step back, 'Safe' at all times. No risks for this girl!

But on the mound we have Garrett Reeves, some of you may remember Reeves was pulled for an injury. We are definitely going to be watching him for weaknesses or any changes in his play. "

" 'Too right,' says a higher pitched voice. 'Reeves is definitely a wild card for Walters. They've never been up against each other before. Who will come out the victor? Will it be Safe at bat or Reeves rocketing it from the mound...?'"

Only one way to find out ladies and gents, but I can promise you regardless of the victor, you will be guaranteed a good game and a big smile!

This book was provided by the publisher through Chapter by Chapter in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Entangled: Crush and Chapter by Chapter!

Announcing Trouble is a Young Adult Contemporary Romance about Josie and Garrett. Josie has sworn off anything that has to do with baseball until Garrett… He changes everything for her.

Announcing Trouble is the first book I’ve read by Amy Fellner Dominy and I loved it! I love reading books about sports with a funny main character and a hot interest. This book has everything that I needed and Entangled Publishing never lets me down!

I really liked the main characters, Josie and Garrett. Josie is such a funny character, I loved reading in her perspective. And Garrett is so charming, it’s hard not to love him! Josie and Garrett have a flirty friendship even though that Josie wants to keep it ‘professional’. I love that their friendship turned into a relationship because they belong together!

I really liked Announcing Trouble, it was hard to put down and I even finished it in one sitting! The story and the characters were amazing, and I cannot wait to read another book by Amy Fellner Dominy!

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for providing me with a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Baseball was everything to Josie until the day her father left, taking her love for the game with him. After being dragged to her school’s baseball game Josie can’t sit and listen to the poor commentating and after barging her way in finds herself calling the rest of the game beside Garrett Reeves, a side-lined player and embodiment of everything Josie has learned to hate about baseball.

When Garrett convinces Josie to be his partner in commentating it isn’t long before sparks fly between the two and Josie soon finds herself realising that they’re good together, in and out of the commentating box.

Garrett wants back on the pitch and will do anything he can to be back in the game no matter what the cost while Josie is struggling with her re-found love for the game and her feelings for Garrett. She knows that baseball is his one true passion and with a new shot at his dreams Josie is torn between following her heart or her head.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were super relatable and honestly, I felt myself connecting with both Garrett and Josie. Josie is such a strong character who puts her own happiness on the back burner in order to help others, especially her mother and Garrett. Garrett fights for what he loves and will not let anything stand in his way. Although his future is so uncertain, he’s still positive and incredibly motivated.

This book isn’t your normal YA story. This story is true to life showing that things don’t always fall into place, there isn’t always going to be a happy ending but if you continue to fight for what you love and believe in then anything is possible.

I really liked the author’s writing style and will be reading more of her work in the future! I was hooked from the beginning and found myself unable to put it down until it was over and then I just wanted more.

If you’re after a cute, fluffy read this summer then I really do recommend Announcing Trouble!

I haven't loved a YA book as much as I did this one in at least a few years! I didn't realize that I had read (and enjoyed) other books by this author until after I finished this one and looked her up but now I am excited for more. I also have to say that if this Entangled Crush imprint continues on this route, I will be very, very happy. If you like contemporary YA or even sports romance, you will love this one - such a good story, such well developed characters and just feel-good first love!

Announcing Trouble comes out next month on August 5, 2019, you can purchase HERE! I cannot wait for more from this author and from Entangled Crush!!

For a cold day in hell, it's unseasonably warm.
I squint against the sun, but unfortunately that doesn't change the view of what's ahead--or the fact that I'm heading there of my own free will. A baseball field. The one place I swore I'd never step foot again.

This was cute, this was nice, this was funny.

3.5, rounded up.

Josie has had to deal with the loss of her greatest love, her father. He abandoned her to go after his dream and play baseball in Japan, and now she hates both him and the game. She's managed to keep distance until one day she barges into a transmission, because it was going that terrible. Since then, Garrett started bothering her for the two to pair up and win a chance to call a majors game, where her father never stepped foot.

Even though it doesn't have that much different from other YA romances, I had a great time reading. I know nothing about baseball, but it never got in the way, there aren't that many scenes about the game itself, even though the topic is ever present. Perhaps, it's even better that I didn't know?

Both main characters have god chemistry and personality. I love Garrett's plans going from A to Z no matter how bad the situation looks and how Josie progresses from the comfort zone she caved for herself thanks to meeting him. The side characters, including Josie's best friend, her mother and Garrett's friends were super fun and made me laugh.

It's not a book that will amaze you, it doesn't even try, but you'll surely find it entertaining and cute. If you want guaranteed good time with a YA romance, this is a good pick.

This book was adorable, cute and fluffy. It was a good read to read in the summer and I think it’s perfect for fans of Kasie West. I really liked the writing style because it was easy to get into and I finished the book quickly.

The characters were also likeable. I loved the enemies to lover trope. This book will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy! I highly recommend this book if you’re looking for something light and engaging to read this summer.

Thank you Netgalley and publishers for the chance to read this. It was a four out of five stars.

Books that have to do with sports are kind of my jam, so it was fun diving back into the young adult world with this contemporary romance from Amy Fellner Dominy. Also, it's the perfect time of year to read a book about baseball! Even though, I'm sorry this sport is so boring to me still! Sorry, I'm not sorry.

I was immediately hooked with this novel because I just loved the banter between Josie and Garrett. It made my little black heart sing. The dude was super charming so no wonder Josie finally gave in to doing the color commentary for the baseball games with him. That was a really fun part of it.

One thing that did bother me a lot was how both Josie and her mom were so adamant that he was wrong for her just because he played baseball. Like not every guy is going to be like your dad. I understood it, but at the same time, it really irritated me because it just felt like the point kept getting beat into the reader after a time. I also wasn't really a fan of how Josie basically wanted a partner that was dedicated to her completely, but that she didn't have to be dedicated to them. That is just not fair. She turns it around in this book, but parts of her character just rubbed me the wrong way here.

I did enjoy that this book talked a lot about looking to your future and what you really want out of that. I think it's a really hard thing for teens to figure out, basically because they don't really even know themselves yet. Josie thinks she has it figured out, but does she really? I enjoyed that about this.

I flew through this book and really enjoyed it, but some parts irritated me. Still a solid book.

Maybe 4.5 stars. I was surprised by how much I liked this book. It's typically hard for me to rate a contemporary YA romance above 3 stars, but this one hit it out of the park (couldn't resist that--haha). And there's just something about sports books that always draws me in, despite my lack of enthusiasm about sports in real life.

Josie and Garrett are fantastic, individually and together. They complement each other and make each other better. At one point Garrett tells Josie that she challenges him, and it's obvious that it goes both ways. They work well together and have a good give-and-take relationship.

I've had a nice little streak of books lately in which the male protagonists have been genuinely good guys, and Garrett is one of those. He's happy, friendly, kind, persistent, sweet. Yes, he's sort of cocky, but he's more humorous about it than serious, even though he knows he's good; he doesn't take himself too seriously. He's sincere in his apologies. I loved seeing him with his mother; even that brief interaction gave a lot away about their relationship. More YA books should have positive parent-child relationships.

Josie is quite different from Garrett in many ways--much more reserved in her willingness to open up to and trust in people, for example. Not that I blame her, with what she went through because of her father when she was younger. But she isn't completely hardened, and she is quite good with children (Garrett is, too). I really enjoyed her sarcasm.

Something particularly great about this book is that it's not full of overblown high school drama. There are no mean girls out to get Josie so they can be with Garrett. There's no love triangle. There's no big misunderstanding because some girl was touching him and Josie just happened to look at the wrong moment. You know the kind of stuff I'm talking about. This book has none of it. The obstacles Josie and Garrett face are believable to me. She hates baseball and doesn't want anything to do with baseball players because of her dad. Garrett loves everything about baseball and is trying to find a way back in the game despite having messed up his pitching arm. Obviously a relationship between them is going to be problematic, right? But again, it's realistic.

Supporting characters varied in their development. On one end, there's Mai, who is really a stellar best friend for Josie. And then there's Avi, who I didn't even realize was a boy until like 60% of the way through the book.

Thank you, Amy Fellner Dominy, for writing a YA book with no sex in it.

Note: Some swearing, including 2 f words. A few sexual references, but no sex (thank you).

This has everything I like about YA, and I'm so happy I read it.

It has a sports oriented plot, yes, but with a refreshingly and unique angle. Josie seriously hates baseball, and Garrett is an injured baseball player, who might never play again. So instead of focusing on playing the game, it's about them collaborating on broadcasting games.

It was fun, adorable and contained some amazing banter between Garrett and Josie. Garrett's charm is of the chart while he tries to gain her trust.

I received this free eARC novel from NetGalley. This is my honest review.

Josie and Garrett are two great characters. I love the banner and interaction between the both of them and how they slowly started to trust one another. Or really Josie trusting Garrett because of her crappy past.

I also really enjoyed this unique book about sport recording and announcements. So many books are out there about the actually sport and playing the game, but to be able to see the "behind the scenes" job of announcing the support to other viewers not at the game was refreshing for me. This might give a younger reading audience another profession to look into when they decide on their future career.

The hurdles that the two main characters had to jump over in this book were deep stuff. But they were both so mature and mostly level headed about it. And they were pretty selfless as well.

I really enjoyed this book and I can see a lot of readers liking it as well! I'm very glad I got an eARC!

I adored this YA romance! It was equal parts growing up and moving on and finding first love where you least expect it.

Josie has good reason to hate baseball, but she finds herself forming a reluctant partnership with Garrett an injured player turned announcer. The two had such a fun dynamic. He's a jock with a big heart and she is looking for a safe and secure future joining her mom's company.

Their relationship grew slowly from acquaintances to friends to more. I found myself rooting for both of them to achieve their dreams even when that might be the thing that breaks them apart.

This was my first book by Amy Fellner Dominy and I am looking forward to reading more!

If you're looking for a cute fluffy but a bit dramatic read look no further.

This book will not disappoint!

This book was a light and easy read; it was sweet and had me hooked from the very first page.

Josie and Garrett were written beautifully! Josie has no interest in baseball at all after her father left her for the game, Injured Garrett lives for baseball and dreams of pursuing it as a career; when an opportunity arises for Josie to call games alongside Garrett she is hesitant but she soon finds herself enjoying it and also spending time with him.

Josie was quick-witted, stubborn, determined and a hard worker; I absolutely adored Garrett and how persistent he was, he was cocky and also quick-witted, the banter between them was fantastic. I adored them booth and couldn't help for a HEA for them. They stole my heart.

The baseball aspect was written well, I am clueless so was a little lost initially but it was all done very well and you can tell that the author knew alot about baseball.

The side characters were brilliant! Mai especially was the perfect best friend and I would love to read a book from her perspective. Josie's mother was a little frustrating, I felt that she was holding Josie back from happiness because of her own personal experience. All of the characters felt genuine.

I love the message behind the story, follow your heart and take risks. It was written beautifully and I will definitely be picking up more books by this author.

Thank you to Entangled Publishing via Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review Announcing Trouble.

Making me smile all the way through, ANNOUNCING TROUBLE was a pure delight. Josie is almost eighteen with an enormous chip on her shoulder. After the way her baseball-obsessed father treated her and her mother, Josie has stayed away from baseball entirely. However, her BFF Mai is crushing on a guy from the team, and Josie ends up at a game. When one of the broadcasters makes another inaccurate statement, Josie heads up to the booth to tell him off, and she ends up getting offered his spot.

While initially reluctant to broadcast, Josie cannot help but be convinced by her soon-to-be co-broadcaster, Garrett. Garrett was a pitcher and had to stop playing due to an arm injury. Baseball was always his dream, but being close as a broadcaster is the next best thing- and he's good at it. With Josie on the team, they may have a shot at winning a contest that comes with money, entrance into a college program, and a slot broadcasting in the major leagues.

As they spend more time together, their snarky chemistry leaps off the page. Garrett and Josie are my new favorite couple. I love the way they work through their issues together and talk things through. Despite some misunderstandings, this adorable romantic comedy had me grinning from ear to ear from start to finish. Beyond the couple, there are some great messages about balancing your dreams with reality and finding yourself.

I am also thinking this could be the first in a series, and I would definitely be cheering for Mai to come up next- I would love to hear more from her genuine and charming self (as well as more tidbits about her parents).

Charming, delightful, and full of swoony romance, ANNOUNCING TROUBLE swept me off my feet. Josie + Garrett 4E! Highly recommend for anyone looking for snarky chemistry, unlikely couples, and delicious romantic comedies.

Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher through netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Announcing Trouble by Amy Fellner Dominy a five-star read that will have you shouting from the booths. This is such a sweet romance, it has got it all in the story, the banter and teasing as we as the ticking just make this such a good read. Garrett has a love of baseball that leaps of the page, it gives you a passion and makes you take note not just of the game. When you add in the announcing competition and the will they wont they aspect of the story and you have the makings of a really great story.
