Hmmm… A pleasant enough read, but not one I would call essential. It's nice to get a book for young audiences just concentrating on animals asleep, such as flamingos sleeping with one leg tucked up for warmth, one leg only as support – and possibly half a brain wide awake, or the snail that a museum mounted as an exhibit when it was still alive, so long it had been dozing. But when that information is repeated in poems, which can get quite repetitive as well in their structure, you feel this book is a spread of bird feathers, puffed up hugely. It looks nice, but it contains a lot of just air for the bird's own purpose. It's proof that science and art don't always mix, for obvious reasons. I'm glad I learnt some things here, but could take or leave the poems.

This is a lovely collection of poetry. The illustrations are wonderful. My daughter's adored this book. We highly recommend it!

Oh, my heart! This book was so cute and just made my heart happy! The illustrations are beautiful and allows children (or adults) to soak up the information given about each animal, in a fun way.

What a delightful book!

When I first downloaded a copy, I assumed (which I never should) that it would be a basic story, a simple read to my kids before bed. What I hadn't expected for there to be are facts, an educational masterpiece to help bring little curious minds alive.

The poetry has been written beautifully and I can't wait to purchase the book as a hard copy for my kids. I know for a fact they'll love learning about animals and being able to see the illustrations.

Hosford delivers a beautiful book; both the poetry and the science behind each of the animal's sleep habits were great. The illustrations were gorgeous and complimented the text well. I will be buying this for my nieces and nephews this Christmas. It makes a great bedtime read.

Cute children's poetry book; would be great to create a program about this for children's services. This book explores how various animals sleep and dream.

Otarie che dormono tenendosi per mano, in modo che le correnti non possano separarle;

I brevissimi sonnellini delle giraffe, che vegliano contro i predatori e sui loro piccoli, gli unici che ronfano acciambellati a pretzel;

Le leonesse, che scappano a dormire su un albero per staccare da maschi e cuccioli;

Gorgeous illustrations. I think the idea of presenting facts along with poems is very clever. The book didn't load correctly on my kindle, so I don't feel like I got the 'whole experience' I would if I were able to read it in order. I would have really enjoyed having this as a child. The illustrations and presentation of information is memorable.

This was a shorter book than I anticipated but the illustrations and poems were adorable. Poetry book I would read to my kids.

I like the idea of this children's book – facts about weird and different ways that animals sleep. I love the illustrations, too. A book that children but also their parents can enjoy.

But unfortunately, I don't like the majority of poems. In my opinion, this book would be great without them.
