I've read a few of Lora Leigh's romance books so I decided to give Lethal Nights a try. I didn't realize that this wasn't the first title in the Brute Force series. That didn't stop me from reading it. And I'm glad that I didn't because this book was good. It held my attention from the very beginning.

I’ve been a Lora Leigh fan for a while now. Her books are always well written and have characters you want to get to know.. this one is no dofferent.

Loved this book so much! It will be one I re-read several times!

This book is fiery!! Excuse the pun. You may think Ilya is the one to watch out for, but Emma is phenomenal in her own right. While it's true that she does need some protection, that doesn't hold her back from being just as intense as ever. This story had me on a whirlwind between the will they won't they and the danger surrounding Emma. Such a fun read, and I'm definitely interested in seeing more from Lora Leigh.

I tried to read this book so many times. I forced my way through the first two books leading up to this one and ultimately, at the end of the day, I think as much as I want to love Lora Leigh, her writing style and my brain have a disconnect. I think this series would be great for people who (a) like her writing style and (b) are in the mood for a paranormal romantic suspense novel.

Oh yeah! It took me a bit to read this one but once I started I could not put it down. Emma Jane needed to find a way to save her home after her husband mortgaged it and she divorced him so she turned to Ilya Dragonovich for help. Along with her boss, Nik Steele, they agree her home will become a safe house. She has yet to house anyone when she is awoke one night and she flees to her bathroom and into the tub when her bedroom is riddled with bullets. This brings Ilya back to her home and all of his possessiveness out in full force. Emma Jane is an independent woman and she is scared but having the Dragon in her home makes her feel safe and once those lines are crossed will either of them be able to go back. Ilya realized long ago she was his mate but he was not going to claim her but someone else had other plans and wanted to take her away first but he has to stop that plan even if it means he has to take over head of the family. This was a fast paced story.

This is a series that gets more and more confusing and tangled for me, trying to decipher the good guys from the bad, but at the same time it does show that most of humanity lives in shades of gray not just the black and white of good and evil. The series revolves around a group of shadowy criminals that have come together to try to eliminate a bit of the worst of their kind, teaming up with law enforcement and a secret organization to keep the innocent safe. Ilya is the second-in-command for a well-known criminal and not exactly a good guy, but he is definitely a man that can be counted on in a pinch and certainly sexy as all get out. He has been a little bit obsessed with Emma Jane ever since she came onto his radar and now that she is in danger because of that association he will do whatever it takes to keep her safe, even if it means finally claiming her despite not believing he is the best man for her. Emma Jane has been always attracted to her sexy Dragon, but Ilya scares her just a bit at the same time. When she is almost killed and he arrives at her home her life changes forever and she soon finds that the attraction between them is no longer deniable, and she doesn’t actually want to deny it anymore. I liked Emma Jane a lot as she stood up for herself, even against Ilya and his high-handedness, and she was unwilling to just let him take over her life without explanation or communication. She knows that she is coming to care for Ilya and that she would love to have him in her life, but she won’t stand for anything less than everything from the man she loves ever again. Ilya was a bit of an ass and I didn’t care for him most of the time. He doesn’t seem to be able to make a decision and stick to it when it comes to Emma Jane, instead pulling and pushing her and never fully embracing the love she could offer him until its almost too late. That to me showed too much of a lack of respect for the woman he claims to love. In the end I enjoyed the story despite so many little things bugging me, but I’m not sure I will continue the series to be honest. While there is definitely passion between the characters, there needs to be more between them and more in the plot that grabs my interest to keep me interested. We shall see if I come back for more, but I am glad Ilya and Emma Jane finally got their HEA.

Sexy, thrilling and hot with just enough suspense I couldn’t put the book down. A great story about an alpha male meeting his mate and the danger she is in because of his family.

The Hero, Ilya Dragonavich, is a bit hard to quantify easily. He is basically a Mafia hitman who has been adopted into the head Mafia family. Though birth family is much more complicated. Either way, he is sexy as all get out and he finds this beautiful simple woman in the process of going through a bad divorce and he decides to help her out so she doesn’t lose her home to her deadbeat ex.

Ilya gets to know Emma Jane Preston better while negotiating the purchase of her house in order to save it for her by turning it in to a safe house for his boss, he determines that she is the woman for him. Though he doesn’t act on it at the time. One year later assassins try to kill her in her house so he has to come in and protect her and try to determine who wants her dead and why.

The story is fast paced, steamy and very good. It has all of the benchmarks of a great Lora Leigh book, such as suspense, drama, romance, humor, enjoyable supporting characters and more. I really liked the entire book. This was the first book in this series that I have read and I didn’t need to read the first two in order to understand or get involved in the story. However, I did like this enough to now want to go back and read the others.

Really enjoyed the book. Lora Leigh is known for her steamy hot romantic suspense books and this book did not disappoint. Ilya (Dragon) comes from a family of gypsies that all have a dragon tattoo. His is on his face to cover up his scars. Emma Jane is recently divorced who ex-husband took out a bunch of loans in her name and she is endanger of losing her home. Ilya runs safe house and helps her to get her home set up but she is attacked and all his instincts kick in to protect her. Ilya is knows Emma Jane is the one for him but his life is dark and filled with violence. Emma Jane he feels is pure and innocent and just got out of a relationship. Loved all the secondary characters. Thoroughly enjoyed.

I received this ARC from Netgalley for an honest review.

This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story. The side characters were such an integral part of this story as well. This is the love story i needed to read at this time. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you

Even after reading 75% of the story, I felt lost and unable to connect with the characters. Mainly, I felt like the story was disjointed. I enjoyed some aspects of it, but there were some inconsistencies (or maybe I missed some details?!) I don’t really know, but at this point I started skimming through until the end, which is never a good sign in regards to my enjoyment of a story. As for the romance, I felt there was way too much sex but not enough of a connection between Ilya and Emma for me feel invested in their story.

So good. Ilya "Dragon" and flirty/angry tattoo on his face which comes to life was so attractive in how he cared for those he love. Romanian/Russian tale of dragon family clan of gypsies was really interesting. A mother who allowed him to be tortured as a toddler because she hated his father and all of the other atrocies that he endured as a child shaped the killer he became. No one woman holds his interest or heart and if she did she would be marked by his enemies. Emma Jane, "EJ" to family is an innocent and sweet but has been manipulated and lost much at the hands of her ex-husband. Emma Jane to save her family home, makes a deal with Dragon's employer. A year later, Dragon cannot get Emma Jane out of his head and whenever in town, would check on her without her knowledge until someone tries to kill her blowing up her bedroom and Dragon is sent to protect her. Dragon fears that it is because of him. Someone from his past has realized that she is more important to him. A lot of action and intrigue.

Lethal Nights was an amazing read with a steamy romance and a suspenseful plot.

Ilya Dragonovich, known as Dragon, is no stranger to the dark side. And when the first woman to capture his heart is threatened, no one is safe. Emma Jane Preston hoped life after divorce would be normal. But when she finds herself the target of a professional hit, it's clear that isn't going to happen. With Dragon to protect her, she knows her life is safe, but how can she keep her heart safe from the man who touches her the way no other ever has?

Ilya and Emma Jane initially meet a year prior to the events of the main story and while they're both attracted to each other, they don't act on it beyond one incredibly steamy kiss. When the pair come together again a year later, that attraction hasn't dissipated at all and it is present in all of their interactions. The chemistry between these characters is simply amazing and when they finally give in to their attractions, the scenes are incredibly hot. The only real conflict in the pair's relationship is Ilya's belief that because Emma Jane is such a good person, she won't be able to accept him and all of the terrible things he's done. I liked though that while Ilya had doubts about how things could last due to who he is, he never gives up on the relationship and is all in. Overall I was very happy with their relationship and the direction everything went.

The mystery of who was after Emma Jane and why was an interesting one. Although I will say it was fairly obvious to me why she was being targeted and I don't understand why it took the characters so long to accept the reason. There are a few great scenes that are quite suspenseful and keep you guessing as to how the situation will turn out. I thought the ending was well done and I was ultimately surprised by how everything was wrapped up.

Lethal Nights ended up being my favorite book in the series and I would recommend the series if you're looking for some steamy romantic suspense reads.

This is my very favorite of the series, so far because of Ilya. He is a very dangerous man with a past filled with violence and on the surface, nowhere close to the kind of man Emma needs.

Ilya is, for all intents and purposes Ivan Resnova's second in command, but as the story unfolds we find out that due to the circumstances of his birth, he wields a lot more power in the Russian underground than is known. He has a complicated history which he believes makes him a bad bet for any woman (with good reason) but when Emma finds herself in danger, he is there in a heartbeat.

Emma is very much the girl next door, well-liked in her community and lives a simple life after her divorce. That is until Ilya enters it and everything changes. She finds herself in life-threatening danger and only Ilya can keep her alive.

Ilya does not exactly fit the prototype of a hero, not with the kind of life he has lived, but he's still the guy you want at your back in good and bad times. The ways he cherishes Emma certainly makes him a favorite of mine and Emma has a core of strength that makes her the perfect match for him.

LETHAL NIGHTS has a more robust backstory for the characters and brings a little more to the page than the usual passion and suspense, it brings a lot more of the mystical stuff that the author sprinkles in some of her romantic suspense stories and also fits in with Ilya's Romani background. Like Oliver Twist, I want more and hope that there is a book in the making for Ilya's brother, Alexi.

I haven't read the previous books in the series. That being said, I was a little confused with the whole Dragon story at first but quickly figured it out. This book is super steamy but I'm not going to lie...I laughed when he kept calling her 'baby' because it sounded fake and weird, especially when he initially called her that and they weren't even involved beyond a couple kisses. Overall a decent book with action and sex/romance intertwined,.

Again, this book just wasn't for me. It was my favorite of the three books so far in the series though so I will give it that. It is a little too over the top, the relationship not really believable. The smutty scenes were smutty though!

Each book in this series has gotten better. Each book has more of a story line and connects each charter a little more to each other and shows more of their past. I really like getting a little more information on the childhoods of the adults and how they were raised.
