Alice is a journalist. When a crank call comes through to the newspaper office she is a bit shaken up but not unduly shaken. However the next Wednesday there is another call. An altered voice threatens "I will use cheese wire on you"- this does shake her up & she also realises that other odd things have happened lately- also on a Wednesday. Her boyfriend, Tom, engages Matthew Hill an ex-policeman now a PI to protect her. Things escalate & Alice becomes more fearful- who is out to get her & why?
The story is told from Alice's point of view & of an abused child who hated Wednesdays. It took me a long while to connect with Alice so that is maybe why I wasn't so invested in her story for quite a lot of the book,( I did love Matthew Hill- such a kind person!) The ending was a bit predictable but overall it was a good read. Thanks to Netgalley & the publishers for letting me read & review this book

Thankyou to NetGalley, Amazon Publishing UK and the author, Teresa Driscoll, for the opportunity to read a digital copy of I Will Make You Pay in exchange for an honest and unbiased opinion.
I thought this book provided a good quick read.
The storyline was well established and keeps you guessing.
A good rainy day thriller.

I didn't like this quite as much as kids expected to and I'm not really sure why. Interesting premise and interesting motive behind it all, but it just seemed a little weak. In addition, I didn't really connect with Alice, the main character. I liked Matthew, the PI, much better, and use would love to see another book featuring him. A solid three star book, but from this author I was expecting it to be at least four!

I was extremely intrigued by the premise of this book. It started off very strong. Somehow though, for me, it started to feel a little boring. It actually took me a full month to get through this book and I usually burn through books in one day. I can't quite pinpoint exactly what it was that made it drag a bit. Even though it started with a strong and unique premise, it turned out to be one of the most predictable books I've ever read. The end is practically spelled out very early on.

Synopsis: Alice gets a terrifying phone call and her life gets turned upside down. Her new stalker continues to taunt her until things escalate at the end.
I absolutely loved this! I found the switch between the characters to be critical to the whole story. I felt like the plot development was really well done and moved quickly enough to keep the story interesting. I kept trying to figure out who the stalker was before the story was finished and I was completely shocked at the end!! Teresa Driscoll did a wonderful job of creating real fear and drama in her story and did not take away from the larger picture. Alice being a journalist definitely complicated her situation, but elevated the story tenfold. I would definitely recommend this for a spooky read and I will probably be reading this again.

This is my first Teresa Driscoll book and I know I will definitely have to pick up more books by her in the future.
This was an incredibly creepy stalker book. It had similar vibes to You by Caroline Kepness so if you liked that book, I would really recommend this one to you!
I think the writing was really good, the pace was strong and there were lots of twists and turns to keep you on your toes.
It goes back and fourth between different perspectives, but its not in the least bit confusing.
I have to say that the ending was really predictable. I did see it happening basically from the start but I didn't guess the context in which it happened.
If you like fast paced, well written psychological thrillers, then I think you will love this one.
TW: pedophilia and suicide

.
This story is about Alice who works as a journalist. Whilst at work she gets a threatening call at work and then every Wednesday thereafter.
I really wanted to love this book as I love reading stories about stalking from either point of view. The story is told from multiple points of view both present and past. Unfortunately this story didn’t draw me in and I found it quite slow to get going. I was then met with some unexpected content which I always find hard to read about. The ending was predictable and I was kicking myself that I didn’t see it coming.

Sharp, entertaining, can’t put it down. I want to read more of this author. I love finding a new author ( to me!)

I only recently got hooked on Teresa Driscoll. The first book I read was I Am Watching You, which blew me away. The Friend and The Promise were both good and each earned 4/5 in my books. It's been a while since I've read a solid 5 star book and this one fit the bill. I finished this one in three days and couldn't wait to keep reading it each time I put it down.
One of my favourite parts of the book is the way the author portrayed "Him - Before". I felt that the perspective of the child was executed very well and I enjoyed it a lot. The characters were well-written. and it was nice to have Matthew Hill on the case again. I always enjoyed his character in the other books and I felt that we got to know him a lot better than before this time around.
There were a couple of twists and red herrings, and while I didn't completely figure it out, I had my suspicions. Still, trying to figure it out is part of the fun of a good mystery.
I can't wait for the next book by Teresa Driscoll.
Thank-you to NetGalley and the publisher for my advanced reader copy!

This book was great! I was hooked the entire way through. I love the diverse characters and how Driscoll takes you from one end of emotion to the next. The characters were well developed. It took me until I was nearly 90% complete before I was able to figure out this thriller. Good read!

This was my first book by this author and it was definitely a page turner! The book immediately opens up with journalist, Alice, answering her work phone to someone on a voice changer saying “I am going to use a cheese wire on you.” It’s a Wednesday, and what follows is more Wednesdays filled with a stalker trying to scare Alice. Alice is rightfully terrified and is trying to find out who this could possibly be. Her boyfriend, Tom, involves a PI named Matthew. There are alternating chapters from Alice’s POV, Matthew’s and then Him, which we assume is the stalker, and paints the picture of his reasons for doing this. I thought the writing was great, pace was good and characters were average. You could guess the stalker pretty easily, but there were definitely some twists thrown in there.

This was a fast paced, suspenseful book that draws you in quickly and keeps you hooked until the very end! It definitely keeps you guessing, which is one thing I loved about it. Well developed characters and a great plot make this one a definite must read!

I Will Make You Pay is a thriller about a journalist named Alice that starts receiving threatening calls and gifts on Wednesdays. I've been trying to branch out my reading a little more because I've been feeling a little burned out on SFF these days, but this book made me remember why I don't read thrillers often.
The thing is, I think in order for a thriller to work you have to care about or connect with the character to some degree. Thrillers tend to focus heavily on secrets and twisty turny plots, so it's not often I find characters in a thriller that I either love or don't feel like card board cut outs. I also have grown very tired of damsels in distress, and we are reminded at every turn that Alice is a damsel in distress, between Matt, the PI who basically acts as her body guard, and Tom, the boyfriend, and Jack, the coworker, I never at any point in time felt like Alice was capable of sticking up for or defending herself. It was kind of frustrating.
In Gone Girl, Amazing Amy is incredibly despicable, and I wouldn't say I cared about her, but that woman is absolutely not a damsel in distress. Those are the kind of women I want to read about. No matter how awful they might be. Any sign at all that Alice was actually trying to protect herself might have helped but she just refused.
I'm sorry if I sound like I'm being harsh or insensitive- I can absolutely see how a person who was being stalked would feel and is absolutely powerless in that situation, but I just would have liked to have seen something that said she was thinking of her own safety, either giving in and letting the PI act as her bodyguard, or actually purchasing that pepper spray she browsed online, or signing up for a self defense class. But she doesn't do anything at all.
I was worried the whole time that I knew very early on who the stalker was and I didn't- so it had that going for it. There were also a few surprising plot twists along the way. (Content Warning: pedophilia abounds in this plot. It's not graphic, but it is disturbing and I could have lived without it.)
I skimmed a lot of parts towards the end that I just didn't care about, Alice's musings about her childhood, Matt's musings about past cases. I'm still not sure why we were shown the whole Ian subplot. It was great that Matt was such a nice guy, but really it had NOTHING to do with the plot.
Finally, the line "I will use cheese wire on you" was introduced early on and repeated frequently. It made me laugh... which is not what it was supposed to do, but I just kept thinking to myself, and how the hell is that going to work? Cheese wire? It's inventive I guess but I really don't think that it's all that threatening. And something about it is not very eloquently said? I don't know.
Anyway- not a bad read but not a great read either. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for sending an eARC for review.

Just ok. I have read a book before by Teresa Driscole and I really enjoyed it, but this book I didn't. I just did not like or care about the main character . Thanks again Netgalley.

This one did a good job of keeping me guessing throughout. Alice is a journalist and she is being stalked each Wednesday by an unknown person. This person wants to make her "pay". The author tells the story through several points of view, one of whom turns out to be the stalker. I liked Alice and you don't realize the connection to the stalker until near the end. I am a new fan on Ms. Driscoll's, as this is my second book from her. I will definitely read a third.
I want to thank the author, Teresa Driscoll, NetGalley. and the publisher, Amazon Publishing UK for the opportunity to read this ARC. My review is also on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

This was such an amazing read that I couldn’t put it down. It went everywhere with me. To the doctors office, the dentist, the eye doctor. IT WENT ABSOLUTELY EVERYWHERE. I was so sad when it ended that I immediately went and bought more books from this author!

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley.
Alice, a journalist, is being stalked on Wednesdays by an unknown person. She doesn't know if it's related to her job, her past, or just someone picking on her. As the threats increase each Wednesday, her realistically portrayed terror does, as well.
The author keeps the reader guessing about the possible suspects. I felt that the ending was a surprise, but it fit the rest of the story.
At the end of the book, the author reveals that she was stalked at one time and was terrified. This experience ultimately led to the book.

I really enjoyed I Will Make You Pay by Teresa Driscoll. This book alternates from the present time and the past which I love in a book.
It's a normal Wednesday, Alice Henderson is at work, she is a journalist for a local newspaper she picks up the phone and receives a strange threatening message from an anonymous caller. Alice quickly hangs up, and ready to dismiss it as a hoax against the newspaper. A week goes by and Wednesday comes round again. Alice finds out the call was personal and it was about her!
Alice does not know why she is getting these messages etc! her last one was "she will be cut by a cheese wire" someone wants her to suffer! but who? What has she done.
She knows her articles that she has had written in the newspaper have been very popular.
Has this got something to do with that?
These threats always happened on a Wednesday........But, Why a Wednesday?
Alice is determined not to give in to fear, and now the Police are involved However, they have not found anything and don't have the resources and time to investigate more, their investigation have come up a dead end. After several more threats on a Wednesday, her loving boyfriend Tom employs a Private Investigator called Mathew Hill to keep her safe and hopefully discover who the culprit is. Whilst Mathew was investigating he discovers Alice is keeping secrets from him and her boyfriend.
Has the stalker got something to do with her past?
Has she upset someone who maybe close to her or has she written about someone and had the article printed in the newspaper?
You will read and learn about a small boy, who is living with his gran, and he loves so much. However, his gran has to leave him alone in her flat every Wednesday so she can do her night shift in the local care home.
Who is the small boy? who is now grown up, got to do with Alice?
Alice's world becomes complicated and starts to dread Wednesday every week.............Who is her Stalker?
This book is full of twists and turn and will leave you guessing who her stalker is. There are a few people who it could be! But Who?
I highly recommend this book and all of Teresa Driscoll's book. I just Love them
Big Thank You to Netgalley, Amazon Publishing UK and the author Teresa Driscoll for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

3.5 stars rounded up.
Alice Henderson receives a chilling phone call on a Wednesday morning at her journalist job. “I am going to use cheese wire on you.” The caller is anonymous and using a voice changing app on his phone. Alice hangs up thinking it’s a hoax, but when something happens the next Wednesday, Alice begins to think this is more than just a prank. She thinks she has a stalker. When things start escalating each Wednesday and Alice’s mother becomes a target as well, Alice’s boyfriend, Tom, hires private investigator, Matthew Hill, to assist with the case. What does the stalker have against Alice? Is it something from one of the articles she’s written or something from her past?
I Will Make You Pay by Teresa Driscoll alternates between the present time and the past. In the past, we are told the story of a young boy who lives with his grandmother. He loves his grandmother very much, but one night a week she has to leave him alone so she can go to her job. Things happen to this boy when his grandmother is at work, bad things. These chapters kept me engrossed. I really wanted to know what happened to the boy.
This book threw out a lot of red herrings and had a lot of twists along the way. I kept thinking I knew who the stalker was and then something would make me completely change my mind. Towards the end, something happened that made me think it was someone, and that turned out to be right, but I was still intrigued to see how the story would end.
I thought the book was very well written and kept me wanting to read more. The characters were relatable and Driscoll created a suspense throughout. There was a storyline that was thrown in towards the end about a charity that I do not think was necessary for the book which is why I rated this book 3.5 stars.
Thank you NetGalley and Amazon Publishing UK for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Full of suspense I really enjoyed this thriller. Loved the writing style & would highly recommend this book to anyone.
