Heavy subject matter but the author makes it work. I really enjoyed getting to know the characters and watching them fall in love.

A perfect continuation of the series. If you've read from the beginning then I definitely recommend. Roni Loren never disappoints. Sorry so short and sweet.

What a bittersweet experience reading The One For You was. This series holds such a special place in my heart and as excited as I was about reading Kincaid's story, I was also filled with sadness because this would be it for me and the characters. It's been a very fulfilling series and Roni Loren ends it with another successful book.

If you're not aware of the premise of this series, it tells the story of four friends who survived a high school shooting when they were younger. Each book explores the impact of the event of their lives as well as their journey to finding peace. Kincaid is the character that held this group of women together. I had a feeling that perhaps her sass, humor, and wit were a front in the previous books. Underneath all that fire was a woman hiding a lot of pain. I loved being inside Kincaid's head and getting to know every inch of her character. Roni's talent for writing amazing character growth really shines through Kincaid's character.

Throughout it all, I could not wait for Kincaid to also find her happily ever after. It came in the form of Ashton, a man that she has a lot of history with. This book does the friends-to-lovers and second-chance romance tropes really well as Kincaid and Ashton go on this romantic journey. It's not without a lot of emotional baggage, but it is a satisfying and heartfelt experience. I think Ashton was the perfect guy for Kincaid. The peeks into his kindness and immense support for her made it very easy to fall in love with him alongside Kincaid. The flashbacks of their younger selves especially highlighted what a good person he was.

I'm not going to lie, I cried when I read the epilogue, but they were tears of joy and I could not have been happier with the way Roni Loren decided to wrap up this series.

Wow this book was just so good and so easy to get lost in. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I just didn't want it to end. I just couldn't get enough of these wonderful characters and I just loved getting to see their journey. I will most definitely be reading more stories from this wonderful author.

I've really enjoyed following this series. Mass shootings are unfortunately way too real and to find a series that follows the survivors trying to live their life while leaving the trauma behind is very special. This story follows Kincaid and Ash, who were friends once upon a time and lost touch many years ago after Ash left their town and never returned.

Kincaid lost the love of her life on that dark day and has been living wondering if he was the one, and she's destined for loneliness. When Ash returns, the two are finding themselves around each other much more than they expected, forced to rehash some touchy subjects of their past.

This book was sweet, heartbreaking, and about healing and hope. I'm so happy that the series ended this way but also that Kincaid, a beloved character from the beginning, gets her story.

A second chance romcom with a perfect balance of romance, emotions, drama and wonderfully characters characters that grab your attention right from the beginning and don’t let go till the end. This series just seems to get better with each new book. Can’t wait to read the next book by this amazing author. Happy reading!! 4 1/2 stars ⭐️

This entire series was amazing. It's what I wish most romance could be: touching, relevent, and thoughtful. I loved them all and I will be waiting anxiously to see what Roni Loren creates next.

This series has been difficult to read at times, yet it has had a prevailing message throughout and that is to live life to the fullest, don’t waste time being angry, and tell those special people in your life what they mean to you. Frankly I was a bit blown away by The One for You. I expected emotion, but the twists and turns in this one kept me guessing yet author Roni Loren not only delivered a wonderful friends to lovers romance, she wrapped up this series by letting the readers see how far each of the four women have come since that fateful day that tore their lives apart.
Since the first book Kincaid Breslin has been the group’s cheerleader, the friend who told you what you needed to hear even if you didn’t want to hear it, the one who pushed you out of your comfort zone, the one made you get out of your own way, and the one who behind the smile and bubbly personality was really just trying to make a perfect life. From childhood Kincaid knew she could only count on herself, so she didn’t trust many people but quiet, bookworm Ashton (Ash) Issacs proved time and time again he had her back. Best friends throughout childhood and into adolescence, Ash carried a torch for Kincaid but never acted on it because he didn’t want to ruin what they had. I will admit teenage Kincaid was a bit self involved and clueless, but so many people are at that age and Ash well, he had a hard time saying no and all he wanted was for Kincaid to be happy. I adored Ash and loved that he was somewhat of a beta guy in life, but turns on his alpha in the bedroom. Ash’s childhood wasn’t wonderful and his adulthood has had a lot of ups and downs, but it was easy to see that he was a good guy with a good heart.
These two have a difficult past and it took them awhile to make amends and move forward, but I appreciated that it didn’t happen immediately. They are vastly different people now and the fact they haven’t spent any great amount of time together in over 10 years is evident in how awkward they are together at the beginning. I loved that their new friendship and their relationship developed organically, it didn’t feel forced or contrived. These two had an intense connection born from their past which is why I think when they must confront the past, they are able to move past it eventually.
When I read the first book in this series, I remember how much the relationship between the four women was just as important to me as the romance and that continues in this book. While their lives have changed quite a bit, they are all still there for one another especially in times of crisis.
I could go on and on, but I’m stopping. This is a book that will make you think, make you feel lots of different emotions, and probably shed a few tears, but it is absolutely a fantastic story that ends what has been an incredible series.

This series has been an emotional roller coaster full of rough rides, hard times, and ending in joyous delight. Every book touched my heart in its own special way, but I think Kincaid and Ashton's story touched my heart just a little bit more.

Before I start this review I do want to warn you, there are a few extreme trigger warnings. Those warnings will be posted in the last paragraph of this review.

When I first started this series I was intrigued the most by Kincaid's character. I loved her bubbly personality and her ability to bring joy to anyone in need. She's always been eager to help others out. But what I was most interested in seeing was Kincaid's ability to move on after tragedy. I was cheering on this girl's happily ever after from the get go!!! Kincaid and Ashton are a match made in heaven! I loved 'most of' their high school moments and the chemistry that came across flawlessly. These two had my heart from the very beginning.

Kincaid is the popular girl, but if you look beneath the surgace you’ll find underneath her shiny perfect exterior, is a typical girl who wants to be loved. One who craves that infamous happily ever after. I loved Kincaid and her bubbly personality.

Ashton is the best friend of Kincaid, he’s also the boy who knows her inside and out. He knows her greatest fears and her dreams and wishes. If only Kincaid would see him for who he is, the boy that loves her truly, madly, and deeply. But bookish nerds don’t get the popular girl, even if they are best friends. Ashton stole my heart from the beginning! I loved the fact that roles reversed in this novel. In romance novels you typically have the hero as the popular one and the female as the bookish wallflower who pines for the popular man. But in The One For You, Ashton is the man who’d rather read and/or write over associating with people. He has his small group of friends and that’s all he needs. I loved the fact that he was the wallflower in this novel. It was the perfect change that I needed in my reading.

As with the other three books in the series, The One For You jumps from past to present. There are a few reflection periods that take us back in time to the moments leading up to that one tragic night. I’m not going to dive into details but I’ll just say the more I read those chapters/moments, the more my love for Ashton grew. He was the true hero of this story.

I knew going into this book, that this one was going to be a tear jerker and I wasn't wrong. There were moments that were hard for me to read, those moments completely shattered my heart into a million tiny pieces. I felt the realism in those terror filled moments. I can’t believe I am saying this but those last terror filled moments is the main reason why I dropped a star. The detail was a little too much for me to handle. I liked the fact that the shooter was in the shadows, I didn’t need him and his actions to be in my head for the remainder of the story. For the rest of the story my mind kept wandering to one question and one small word.

Why? I had moments of pure rage and wanting to know why this man and his friend would walk into a school where people are celebrating and completely turn everyone’s world upside down…. If this were a real life situation these thoughts would make sense and my feelings would make sense, but this isn’t real life. This is fiction and fiction is something to be enjoyed.

Don’t get me wrong, I do understand that this moment was necessary to tell in Ashton and Kincaid’s story, this was a moment of truth where Ashton bared his soul and told Kincaid everything that he’s been holding in for ten years. The guilt finally needed to be let go in order for, not only Ashton, but also Kincaid to heal. The last puzzle piece of the story needed to be set in place. But Trevor’s spotlight was too bright in that one single moment. And this one single moment put everything else, in my mind, on the backburner. It was too real.

Overall, The One For You isn’t a novel for everyone. I highly recommend you go into this one with your eyes wide open, expecting the worst possible outcome you can possibly think of to take place in a situation such as this one, and then times it by ten. Aside from that moment, I really loved this story. I loved the best friends to lovers vibe. I loved the chemistry between all of the characters and the premise of what this series is about; Finding a way and a place in the world after a tragedy. Roni Loren wrote one hell of a series! A series I won’t be forgetting anytime soon.

Ashton and Kincaid’s story brought so many tears to my eyes. Tears of joy, tears from laughing, tears of sadness, and tears of anger. My heart hasn’t been put through this much in a long time. Thank you Roni Loren for writing such a beautiful series and showing us that there is life after tragedy and it is possible for a heart to mend after such a great loss. Ashton and Kincaid will go down in history as being one of my favorite bookish couples.

CONTENT/TRIGGER WARNING BELOW!

If you find content such as school shootings, spousal abuse, and/or neglect extremely triggering I would tell you to skip on this book and skip on this series. I usually don't like to sway people away from reading a book, especially a book that I deeply loved, however, I feel my responsibility as a reviewer is to protect the one who is reading this review's mental health. As a person who has never been involved in a horrific act of violence such as a school shooting, I myself found the last 'high school' chapter to be triggering, so I can’t even imagine what reading this book would be like for those that have been through material such as that written in this book.

Just be careful If you plan on reading this. If you are extremely sensitive to the material I listed above, please be cautious when reading that last 'high school' prom chapter! My heart feels so damn heavy just thinking about that moment.

As I write this review I'm sad. Sad that I finished the series because I love these characters so so much. Roni Loren has a way with words that can melt your heart.

Kincaid has been the cheerleader for her friends but when it comes to her she has no faith in herself. There was times I wanted to scream or smack her. How could she not see Ashton her bestfriend was in love with her while they were in high school? You can't read this book with feeling bad for Ashton. My Lord he waited for the girl of his dreams for years.

There were parts I found myself laughing out loud, almost crying or my heart racing. I'm sad to see these characters go but can't wait to read what Roni has next coming. Thanks to Netgalley for giving me the chance to read this series in exchange for my honest opinion. This is a must read series.

The One For You by Roni Loren was an emotional second chance romance. This is the first book I have read in the series, but not the last. I am looking forward to going back to the beginning. I have to say I was not actually aware what this series was about until I dove in and the feels are huge in this one. Friends who were devasted in one of the worst ways possible. How do they move on, let go or even learn to live again?

I was captivated from the start. Kincaid Breslin and Ashton Isaacs had so much history and not all of it good. Ashton has always had feelings for Kincaid but hid them because her heart belonged to another. Can Kincaid finally see Ashton with different eyes? When Ashton comes back old hurt feelings and new ones come to light. Can they find a way to each other?

Happy reading!

A beautifully emotional story touching on several sensitive and relative subjects Roni Loren brings out the beauty in some of that pain.
Kincaid Breslin and Ashton Isaacs were friends from childhood but Ashton was always in love with Kincaid she didn't realize until they were grown ups...For both of them this grown up love may bring up to many painful memories and scripts from the past for it to work.
Such an incredible read kudos to Roni!

It seems almost weird to be such an avid fan of this series that follows the lives of four friends years after they survived a school shooting. Weird because it's a god-awful event that brought these people together, otherwise they might not have ever crossed paths. The friendships that sprouted from that brought hope and love into their lives, and the strongest of bonds that'll stand up to any challenge.

Kincaid and Ashton are both survivors. Best friends in high school with Aston nursing the biggest crush on Kincaid but never coming forward with his feelings. Things changed dramatically after that night and later when Ashton couldn't take it anymore, he moved away. Kincaid always felt that he left her behind so she had to heal and get on with life on her own without her most trusted friend by her side. Now that he's moved back to Long Acre temporarily after a break up and to write his next book, they have to make peace and get along. Ashton still loves her but Kincaid has been in love with a ghost this entire time - her boyfriend who died in the shooting. That's always stood between them. But now that they're older, and Ashton is not as timid about expressing his feelings, he's willing to let it all out there even if he hasn't quite figured out the rest of his plans.

I loved that these two had a friendship before this. They clearly got each other and had fun. Their reunion may be uncomfortable for a bit but at least they're working through it. I like that there is communication between them instead of waiting for a good portion of the book for them to be honest about their feelings. Kincaid, for all her bravado and upbeat personality hides her insecurities well which is obviously harder to do when Ashton knows her best and knows how her family history affects her. And Kincaid knows why, other than the shooting, that it's hard for Ashton to come home. The toughest part of this unexpected reunion is that they finally have to confront certain truths about that dreaded night. They have to separate fact from fiction which is painful but necessary if they are to repair and rebuild their relationship.

The reason this series is so powerful to me is because it looks at what the survivors go through years after a shooting. The repercussions don't go away with thoughts and prayers. They are intrinsically tied to that event forever and it's hard to carve out an identity away from that, something that Kincaid, Ashton and the town of Long Acre know too well. Long Acre is still perceived as a morbid tourist destination attracting spectators rather than investors, and its town folk have to figure out how to re-brand itself, so to speak.

I knew The One for You was the last book but I was surprised by how I was not ready for it to end. I actually had to read the epilogue twice to accept it. I also had to wipe away a tear after that. Kincaid, Bec, Taryn and Liv thought they were alone after their tragedy but together the found friendship and unending support. The epilogue was so satisfying for me because they each got their happily ever after and that's the most you can wish for someone who's thriving after overcoming the worst.

Here we follow Kincaid, the last of the group, and Ash, who was her best friend in high school. Her boyfriend was killed during the shooting, and a few days later Ash left suddenly, cutting off contact with everyone, Kincaid included. She never knew Ash was in love with her, and she doesn’t really remember the night in question (we learn why late and the explanation is logical). She and Ash find themselves working together to recondition the bookshop where they used to work as teens.

From the beginning of the series Kincaid stands out for her bubbly personality. She’s the one always telling the others that they shouldn’t reproach themselves things about what happened the night of the shooting as the only ones responsible are those who opened fire, and at the beginning of her book we still see her very philosophical way about life: she says frankly she refuses to let the past drag her down and she prefers forging ahead. But little by little we see that in spite of this she’s very marked by her unhappy childhood, and her boyfriend’s death and the hero’s departure gave rise to abandonment issues, so more or less unconsciously she doesn’t want to commit. She’s really disturbed to feel attraction for Ash but she decides quite quickly to make the most of it before he goes away again.

Ash is a calmer hero, who hides a secret concerning the night of the shooting he’s still reproaching himself. When we finally learn what it is, I admit I was torn: I understand why he acted, he wanted to protect Kincaid like he’d already done lots of time before, but I don’t like how he did it. He also hides this past love for the heroine, a love that comes back in force when he finds himself forced to be close to her every day. He doesn’t want to risk their newfound friendship and prefers keeping silence for too long, even when their mutual attraction brings a torrid intimacy. However I liked how he supports her, and in the end he does a gesture that really shows the woman’s importance for him.

During the whole book there are little flashbacks allowing us to measure the link between Kincaid and Ash before the shooting, and even if usually I’m not fond of this method here I thought it was well integrated to the story. I also liked the way each get comfortable again with the other quite quickly, and their teasing and repartees were often funny. On the other side I found there were too many repetitions in their thoughts, especially concerning their reasons for not being together, not getting attached to the other, or not being more honest with the other. And I also didn’t like the way Kincaid loses her job because of an arrogant moron. I’d have preferred not to have this whole passage showing the vulnerability of a woman’s reputation still in our present time.

Finally, even if I was less charmed by this last volume, it’s once again a very good story delivered by Roni Loren, and I especially liked the ending between the four friends.

I really love the way Roni Loren writes and I enjoyed Kincaid so much. I was however not a fan of Ashton who was too flighty and lacked sex appeal.

Thank you for the review copy.

I won’t lie, for the first 30% of this book I was worried that I wasn’t going to like it anywhere near as much as I did the others. The story felt like it was moving rather slow for me and honestly, I wasn’t really that fond of Kincaid. In actuality I wasn’t fond of her for a majority of the book. I can’t decide if it was her inability to move on from the memory of Graham or if it was just because I instantly fell for Ash and couldn’t understand how she could have been so blind before.

As the story progressed and more and more pieces of their past were revealed, things started to fall more into place and I found myself understanding Kincaid and why she thought and acted the way that she did. I even saw how Ash wasn’t exactly blameless in their rocky history. It was so so heartbreaking to see how both of them had their hearts broken over and over again and how much time they lost as a result of the shooting aftermath and all of the grief they were both drowning in.

I sobbed my way through this story.

I’m sad to see this series come to an end but I’m very happy with how well Roni Loren wrapped everything up for this group of friends. Their history was heartbreaking and not anything I won’t be able to stop thinking about anytime soon, I finished with a feeling of hope and contentment. I only hope that real survivors of tragedies such as the one represented in this story find the same strength, hope and happiness for themselves.

I have really enjoyed this series and this book did not disappoint. Kincaid and Ash's story was one of my favorite out of the series. I will truly be recommending this series, with a side note warning of the school shooting and flashbacks as they are a hard subject.

The last book in an engrossing quartet, this book deals with the aftermath of picking up lives after a school shooting. Relevant, romantic, moving is only a few words to describe a novel with a little bit of everything a romance junkie craves.

I received a email about this book with a small description of a scene in the book. I loved this book and recommend to a few romance reader. I also am fascinated how Ms Loren with words could make us feel the different emotion of the main characters experience. I found the book interesting in that it dealt with the survivors of the shooting had how they would be living their lives after the events and how much the shooting changed their lives.
