The Truth is an electrifying, heart-thumping read about an issue I'd never even heard of before! (I can't go into details cuz: SPOILER.)

You read the first three-quarters thinking the story is going to be one fairly straightforward affair. A case of domestic abuse, a troubled wife, a husband with secrets and an evil streak. But boy does part 4 swing this whole story sideways. The wife doesn't fight back for one major, spoilery, reason.

I read it with my heart in my throat.

I'm actually going to have to read it again to figure it all out in my mind.

You have to read this book!

A really good, solid read but awful characters! The author did a good job with the story overall and the tension ramped up towards the end. I enjoyed it overall.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the advance copy. This book is about a fairly common issue among many couples. Many issues that are in a abusive relationship. Emelia is scared to death of Anthony and it's understandable that many women are so scared of their abusers so they stay in that relationship. So when Emelia could have left him she did not. It wasn't really a mystery or suspense because you know whats going to happen pretty much. But not a bad read.

Fast paced and thrilling! The story sucks you in from the first paragraph and does not let up for one second.

I enjoyed the final twist a lot and I would recommend this book to anyone

I received an advanced reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review

The story is actually fairly interesting, the characters, not so much. Everyone outside of the heroine is completely unlikable from the start, which doesn’t do much to build the mystery or suspense. It’s a book full of horrible people doing horrible things. The heroin herself is definitely a case of too stupid to live. There’s no reason why this woman should not have left is man while she was still able to leave the house. And I understand abused women often have many barriers, but that is usually because if the abuser had come off as charming and did not begin the abuse until the barriers were already up. Whereas this guy was an absolute dick at the start, the heroine had loving parents so no reason to accept abuse etc. This is the kind of book when you’re not sad if anyone dies. And that’s not super thrilling

Reading the blurb of The Truth was like walking into a shop and seeing the cream cake that only exists in your wildest dreams. Reading The Truth was biting into that cake to find the cream is sour and the inside was full of spiders.

Too slow and without good writing the plot quickly falls apart.
