A sweet Christmas romance that reads like a hallmark movie, with the right amount of cheesiness to add to Christmas reading and the gingerbread houses add a level of sweetness.

Great book. I will not give any spoilers but it was just the great type of feel me good book. I recommend it.

Another fun, light hearted Christmas read from Hallmark. Liked the interaction & growth in the relationship between Taylor & Adam. I always enjoy these stories, even if the plot & the outcome are predictable.. They just really put you in the Christmas spirit.

Problem.....I kept craving gingerbread cookies! LOL. I always like to see how the literary version stacks up against it's television counterpart; but sadly missed this one. Will be on the lookout for it in a repeat airing.

If Hallmark Christmas movies are your thing.....these books don't disappoint.

This was okay, but truthfully fell a little flat with me. The chemistry between the two characters was immense, and palpable through the page but the story itself felt a little lacking. This is definitely a character driven story and whilst the characters are pleasant, they didn’t feel fleshed out enough for me to truly connect with them which I found to be a shame. They needed a little more depth to them to truly make it a good character driven story. That being said it was a lovely, charming, fun Christmas read and it really brightened up my winter day. I would definitely recommend this to both seasoned romance readers and those who are new to the genre as it has a little bit of everything: familial bonds, true love, tenderness, finding out home is a person rather than a place... it’s a bundle of cute and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Yay's:

As cheesy as it sometimes was, the romance was really adorable, lol! Taylor and Brook's dynamic was especially adorable. It was so heartwawarming to see their relationship flourish!
Seeing POC being highlighted in a Hallmark novel. Sadly, it's rare. They're usually the side character rather than the main focus.
Both characters encouraged one another to grow. I feel like that's so important in ANY type of relationship.
Nah's:

Literally the only gripe I can think to have with this book is the instalove and the overwhelming fluff. But hey, I wanted fluff so can I really complain?? Hahaha.
oh wait, actually- the whole having to choose between your job and love crap kinda irks me. So there's that as well. But with all that I still really enjoyed this book.

A fun, festive read that had me craving gingerbread. And I'm not a fan of gingerbread. I am however a fan of Christmas romance stories that are sugary sweet! Another great hallmark story!

An ambitious young architect, seeking a fabulous promotion, is tasked with designing a lifesize gingerbread house fabulous enough to win a competition. To add to the stress, she must find someone to actually bake the gingerbread and assist with assembling the house.

Enter the standoffish, widowed baker, complete with an adorable little daughter. Will Taylor have the courage to reach forward toward the family she always wanted? Or, will she hold on to the excitement and freedom of single life and constant travel?

I absolutely loved this story. It's a fun romance and, thanks to Hallmark's standards, suitable for any age.

In the interest of full disclosure, I received a free digital copy of this title to review from Net Galley.

A wonderful Christmas story. Most times movies are based on books, this book was written about the Hallmark movie. Taylor's boss has entered her into a contest to design and build a life size Gingerbread House. She's the designer and architect and they need a baker fast. Enter Adam, a single dad with a local bakery. Taylor has never been one to stay in one place and as she and Adam and his daughter Brooke work together in Philadelphia she is starting to rethink her vagabond lifestyle. Sweet and wholesome this is a perfect holiday romance. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Do you like Hallmark Christmas movies? If so, check out this Christmas romance from Hallmark Publishing.

An architect and the baker combine forces to compete in the Giant Gingerbread House competition in Philadelphia. Taylor needs a win in the competition to seal her Paris promotion. Adam love specialty baking and dreams of his own bakery but being a single father to his daughter Brooke is his priority.

This was a sweet Christmas Romance. The author did a great job describing all the holiday events. I was craving gingerbread and Christmas cookies by the end. It gave me all the Christmas magic feels. A cute epilogue tied the story together. I recommend this book if you're looking for a light holiday read. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an e copy of this book.

A Gingerbread Romance is a very cute Christmas romance. Taylor's work as an architect gets her involved in a life-size gingerbread house contest. This brings Taylor and Adam, the gingerbread baker, together. As they work closely on their gingerbread house Taylor and Adam both feel their romance blooming. Much like Hallmark movies, this book follows along the same story line. It is a little bit of a typical and somewhat predictable Hallmark romance, but it is definitely worth the read. Perfect book for the holidays!

Making a Gingerbread House into a Home

It seems as though Hallmark is not just trying to corner the Christmas romance movie market but the Christmas romance book market as well. I enjoyed this story about two adults, one sweet little girl, and two designs for a giant gingerbread house. It was refreshing to see that the hero and heroine didn't have the standard backstories that are so often seen in contemporary romance. Taylor, the heroine, is a hard-driving architect who works on buildings all around the globe. The book actually starts off with a sad and sweet scene of her as a little girl just wanting to have Christmas in the place that her family had lived in for a while but her parents requiring that the family move on to the next destination. This is the story of Taylor's life growing up—moving out, moving on, and never staying in one place for long—and she continues it as an adult as she makes her mark in her career. The hero lost his wife to cancer some years ago and has been driven to create a warm, loving, and stable home for his daughter while working as a baker in a small neighborhood bakery. He had dreams of opening his own place and doing more contemporary and artistic baking, but that all had to go by the wayside so he could raise his daughter in the manner he thought most valuable after his wife's death. These are both decent people, though they definitely clashed when they first met. There were almost two meet-cutes for them, and they were both fantastic. As they work on the giant gingerbread house, they learn to work together and gradually start to fall for each other. As one would expect in a Hallmark book, there were some lovely little moments of sweetness between the couple as well as with them and his little girl. The hero's daughter was absolutely adorable, and you can see how much she craved a mother figure. There were times my heart broke for her. This is a Hallmark story, so it ends like you would imagine—with a big issue at the end, some drama, and finally that HEA. If you love Hallmark Christmas romance movies, you will undoubtedly enjoy this book.

Sweet story. Loved Brooke, the young girl in the story. There's lots of food stories at Christmas, but this is an original with a giant gingerbread house competition. Loads of fun.

This was a cute story, but the writing was so simplistic that it felt like it was written for children, like when they do a kid's version of a popular (usually nonfiction) book. I wasn't expecting a ton of world-building or amazing prose, but the language didn't evoke anything at all. A story about a baker insisting on making tasty gingerbread with which to build a life-sized house should have evoked the warmth of the kitchen, the spicy scent of gingerbread, the sweetness of sugar, something. What we got was that Taylor's house was starkly furnished (read: cold and impersonal) while Adam's house was actually decorated (i.e. a home). This is all we need to know about the people, too. Taylor's home (and general bitchy demeanor) makes it clear that she is a career-focused, no-nonsense woman and Adam is a family man who cares more about taking care of the people he loves than taking chances on his own career. A child could have written their dialog and the only way I could find any chemistry between these people was by filling in their super basic backstories and motivations with my own imaginings. I can only hope the movie was better.

What an awesome book to start off the Christmas season with! The book starts with little Taylor yearning for a permanent home as her parents move from place to place due to their jobs. Years later Taylor herself has followed her parent's path and is looking out for a big promotion to head her architectural firm's Paris office. For that, she has to take part and win Philadelphia city's contest to build life-sized gingerbread houses.

It's a team competition and Taylor convinces Adam, a baker and single dad, to be her partner in the contest.

For years, Taylor has buried her dream of having a permanent home. But as she spends more and more time with Adam and his daughter Brooke, decorating for Christmas and enjoying the city traditions, all the dreams and aspirations she had buried rises up again.

I just loved this book. A sweet and simple book with wonderful Christmas spirit. The only minor issue I had was in some parts when some characters talked it felt like they were giving a lecture. Editing out a few sentences could have given a less preachy vibe. Overall, I loved it and looking forward to reading more books by this author. I give this book 4.8*. Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for providing me with the ARC of this book.
