As a member of the LGBTQIAP+ community, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for The Tale of Two Mommies and Daddies book. This book beautifully portrays the loving and caring nature of all parents, regardless of their gender. Vanita Oelschlager has done an exceptional job in emphasizing that parents, regardless of their gender, can be there for their children unconditionally.

I also want to extend my appreciation to NetGalley for providing me with an advance copy of this book, allowing me the opportunity to experience its heartfelt message before its official release.

Overall, The Tale of Two Mommies and Daddies is an important and inclusive book that not only celebrates diverse family structures but also reinforces the idea that love knows no boundaries. It is a much-needed addition to children's literature and a valuable resource for teaching young readers about the beauty of all types of families.

This was a very sweet book. I have to be honest, it isn’t my favourite on the topic of two daddies, but I think there’s definitely an audience! For me, I just need my rhyming books to scan with a bit more consistency to be honest.

I received a copy of this eBook in exchange for an honest review from Netgalley.

I love the sentiment of this book. Who does your braids? who helps when your afraid? Does it really matter if it's Poppa or Daddy? As long as someone is there to do the job. The pictures were great too. I hope this book gets in to the hands of lots of children - especially those with "different" families.

This was a cute book that represented a child with two dads really well, in a way that was easy for my 4 year old to understand and not question. Daddies have the same roles as a mommy and daddy would in a household, and that's a great thing for kids to learn and see. I would have liked to hear maybe the kid asking all the questions saying who does the things in HIS family or something like that, to help them seem more clearly relatable ("my daddy takes me to swim class!" "My daddy does that too!" sort of thing) but otherwise this is a nice addition to any kids bookshelf.

I was hoping for a little bit more depth to this book than what was presented. I was hoping for more of a conversation, something more profound to help children be introduced to and understand the LGBTQIA community like other picture books I’ve read. However, this book read as a long list: “who helps you do this? Papa does.” It wasn’t really groundbreaking or held my interest at all.

A sweet book about a small girl who grows up in a family with two dads. She explains to her friend which dad helps her with specific things, as he keeps asking questions.
It's cute and a nice read with kids.

This was just as cute as a Tale of Two Mommies and I really appreciate that it’s sort of a duology, with a little girl talking about her experience having two dads, I simple and easy to understand language. I would definitely buy both books to stock an elementary school library or gift to a parent of young children. Thank you NetGalley for the ebook to review

Thank you NetGalley and Vanita Books for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

This book was cute and age appropriate for young children. Written in the style of children who ask lots of questions (and that was me!) this is definitely based on questions a child might have. However, I would have liked to see more of an explanation somewhere in the book about how all families look different so that there was more explanation about the WHY not just who does what in the family.

The pictures are amazing. Loved a Take of Two Mommies! What a wonderful message to normalize this situation for anyone feeling out of place. Can’t wait to read the next one.

Perfect little story of two children : one asking questions about their family to the other. Discovering his friend has two daddies leads to a series of questions. The answers shows that they are just like any families, and that everybody loves each other.
Very cute and beautiful illustrations as well

A beautiful story of having a family with two dads. Stories like this help to normalize families that already exist everywhere.

That was a fun book to read! I love reading children's fiction (or in this case, picture book) with diverse and three dimensional characters so this was right up my alley. This book normalizes having LGBTQ parents without making a big deal and not resorting to gender roles either. It even shows that the children can have their own responsibilites and agendas: the girl being able to match her own socks or being the only one who stays up late because her fathers go to bed early. That was very fun. I hope seeing more books like this in the future.

This is an adorable picture book about a girl with two fathers. Her friends "ask who does..." and she answers.

I like the story. It's simple and easy to understand. The art could use more color, maybe use different lighting to add dimension and makes it looks more appealing

My love for Webster's and yellow highlighters was a slow process; however today I cannot imagine my life without either. A true story imaginatively recounted is a tale; I would have lost on Jeopardy. In addition, two men parenting would not have been my first thought.

The book is a dialogue between two children: one asking if you have two dads (step-fathers are not mentioned or the second dad in a child's life after a death) and what do they do. The second child confirms yes, how each are addressed differently and have specific roles (Mom is not mentioned or addressed).

The answers are short and direct, and the questions do seem age-appropriate.

There is a whimsical tone to the illustrations and story.
