This is a highly enjoyable second addition to this series. I find the story so gripping, the pacing excellent and the multiple POVs certainly help with this, and the characters very compelling. If you are a fan of Geralt from the Witcher series you will likely enjoy Gill’s character. Highly recommend for fans of Witcher and Game of Thrones.

Knight of the Silver Circle by Duncan Hamilton, almost as good as the first. This second book in the series delivers a solid book, that only barely suffers from being the second book. If you enjoyed the first and were tantalized by the ending don't miss out on this book.

As with the first book in this series, I had a hard time putting it down. The flow of the book was really great, never a dull moment.. I could literally see the words turn into a action packed movie. Gill, Solent and Amaury’s characters grow from the first book, if you liked the first book, you will love this one, I cannot wait until the third book comes out.

I was given and advanced copy of this book to read and give an unbiased review

This second book of the trilogy was a lot of fun nd I imagine Gill, the protagonist, as a Bruce Willis type character that has a moral code and enough honor to guide him through situations that he would have botched as a young sword fighter who was the best in the land.

The last book finished with a fight Gill barely survived and he and Solene formed a great team that brought magic back to the order that had rotted away from the inside. This second book picks up directly after the fight and both are thrown right back into the grinder...which they will face separately when the split up. There are more dragons, though, and Gill is asked to help with that problem because he’s the only one who can. He employs some swords and a squire, who seek glory and a better life respectively, but have no idea what they’re up against. Can Gill prepare them in time so they will survive?

If you’ve read Hamilton’s previous titles, you will appreciate the same world as his other books. It’s a huge relief to not have to re-learn a world/currency/enemies/timeline! Also, the character development is as excellent as previous stories. The pace of a trilogy has to be carefully managed and Hamilton does a great job of generating expectation in the first book, as well as introducing us to the major players. In the second book, some die while others live and developed more and it’s done in a surprising manner a few times! A character or two will be sorely missed, and the person we love to hate gets more...hateful.

I really enjoyed this part of the story and found that I didn’t even look at the page numbers until the sudden end, which of course was way too soon! The author deserves his five stars for this book because of his consistency and quality. Well done!

This is the second book in the Dragonslayer series and carries on much in the same vein as the first. The plot follows the two main characters from the first book (Guillot - washed-up knight comes good - and Solène - novice learning to control her magical powers) as they battle for survival against more dragons and Mirabaya's éminence grise. Along the way there is of course betrayal, plot twists and surprising revelations. The ending is more of a set up for act three, rather than a grand finale.

Do you get all giddy at Adult fantasy? Do you relish stories that blend magic and political intrigues? Are you craving a new favorite about dragons? If you answered yes to all three of those questions, then this series is just for you.

Knight of the Silver Circle is the sequel to Draonslayer. A HIGHLY anticipating book of mine. What makes the book most exciting—and worth galvanizing my will to persevere through the often-tepid pacing and some repetitive sections—is the way the author uses her toolbox of fantasy tropes selectively, looks at them with clinical eyes, exposing them, facing them, and effectively subverting them, all while deftly constructing an intriguing backdrop that's equally outlandish and startingly ubiquitous.

It is a lively, quick-moving fantasy that makes sure readers know (and like) its characters well enough to care when threat comes for them. The intimidating and intricate workings of the kingdoms provide an intriguing backdrop for the action—and power is a tangle of threads that everyone wants to clench in their fists, which ratchets up the tension and drives the novel to its bloody but satisfying conclusion.

I read the first of this series in June and you can find that review here. My biggest complaint with the first one was just needing more from everything, especially the characters. I will say that the second book was a bit better but I still had a couple issues.

The first chapter doesn't waste any time when it comes to pulling you in. I was very impressed and excited to see the dragons introduced straight away.

Just like the first book, this one also has multiple point-of-views. A few of them were from characters introduced in the previous book and the other two are new characters. I am glad that one of the PoVs was from a dragon. That was my favorite part from the first one.

One of the main characters, Guillet, reminded me a lot of Geralt from The Witcher series, especially towards the end due to a couple scenes. I did like him and the other characters a bit more as there was more development. One of the newer characters didn't have much background and so I am quite curious to see where her story will go. She also is a pretty sneaky assassin and it was fun to read about her.

As for the plot, it was a bit slow at times but it does pick up the farther you get into the book and the ending was a great pay-off. I'm glad that the dragons had a bigger role and it seems they will also be a big part of the third and final book in the series. I am really excited about that. There were a few plot twists and they weren't obvious like they were in the first book. It was definitely a good improvement and it had me on edge at the ending!

Overall, the series did get better and I am looking forward to reading the final book in this series. The covers are gorgeous and make my love for dragons even stronger.
