Another fun addition to the Longhorn Canyon series. I enjoyed this lighthearted second chance romance with a rekindled friends to lovers theme. The storyline was enjoyable, the characters were likable and down to earth, and the setting pleasant and homey. There were a few sections that seemed to drag a little and I would have liked to learn more of Rose’s background (it was just brushed over but it seemed like it would have been really interesting to expand on), but the overall story was easy flowing and delightful.

Reunited with your junior high crush!

Rose O'Malley was taking care of her great aunt’s bed and breakfast and gift shop while deciding if she wanted to stay in the military for another tour or do something else when she almost ran into Hudson Baker who she knew from junior high school at the gift shop owned by her great aunt while she was trying to deal with a plumbing leak.

Cowboy Courage isn’t a book about reunited lovers because Rose and Hudson hadn’t even gotten past the crush stage in the year that they went to school together but they never had forgotten each other because when they met again there was still sparks. The sparks between Rose and Hudson are helped with family and the neighbors in Bowie. I can picture a small town where everybody knows what you are doing even before it happened.

Cowboy Courage is the sixth book in the Longhorn Canyon Series but can be read as a standalone book.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Love gets a second chance in this charming cowboy romance from a New York Times bestselling author, perfect for fans of Diana Palmer and Linda Lael Miller.

After spending years traveling the world with the military, Rose O'Malley is ready for a change. Heading back to Texas to hold down the fort at her aunt's bed-and-breakfast will give Rose just the break she needs. But while she may speak seven languages, she can't repair a leaky sink to save her life. When Hudson Baker strides in like a hero and effortlessly figures out the fix, Rose can't help wondering if the boy she once crushed on as a kid could now be her saving grace.

Hud has always been rock-solid and dependable-a quintessential cowboy to his core. But the moment Rose steps back into his life, his world is turned upside down by meddling family, a rescued baby, and one highly mischievous cat. Now he'll have to decide if it's time to throw caution to the wind and do whatever it takes to convince Rose that by her side is exactly where he wants to stay.
Includes the bonus novella, Wildflower Ranch!
My Thoughts

Hudson Baker has strong family ties that not only have helped shape him into a man to stand strong with but a man who knows who he is and is unashamedly striding through his days calmly taking care of the business of life.

At least he was until Cactus Rose, or as she likes to be called plain Rose O’Malley, finds her way back into his orbit by way of her Aunt Molly’s Rose Garden B&B.

Rose was the woman he described as "she’d been his first love, his first kiss, and he’d never forgotten her”.

The million dollar point though that was at the heart of Hud’s dilemma is simple , "now she was back, but he had no idea how long she planned to stay”.

When asked by Hud ”How long are you in Bowie for?”

The answer of “At least until Aunt Molly comes home from her long vacation,” was not exactly what Hud was wanting Rose to say.

Over the years Hud of course had learned a lot from his twin brother—for instance how to sweet-talk a woman off the dance floor and into his bed for a night of mutual satisfaction—but this woman was Rose, the now grown up version of a little red-haired girl he’d fallen hard for when he was only fourteen years old.

Which of course is exactly why he wasted no time, or very little, working on winning her heart and hand.

When the pair reconnect he was quick to point out that he answered to Hud now, not Hudson.

Her quick rejoinder was “Guess we’ve both done some changin’.”

Enter into the mix Dixie Boudreax and 3-month-old daughter Sally in need of assistance and throughout the entire story there are mishaps galore, feelings explored that were long overdue and at the end of the day the return of an Aunt whose very eccentricities make her near and dear to ones heart quickly.

Talk about the sweetest romantic gestures and you will find a picture of Hud Baker right next to all of them!

I love small town romance tales and this author captures their spirit every time for me.

**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review**

While Cowboy Courage is part of the Longhorn Canyon series, this is the first book in the series that I have read. I can confidently say that it can be read as a standalone without any issue.

Rose O'Malley has just returned from serving in the military and she's trying to determine if she's going to reenlist or start down a different path in her life. She's currently staying at her Aunt's B&B, taking care of it while she's on a trip of a lifetime.

Hudson Baker is a cowboy who also is a volunteer firefighter. He's hard-working, loyal, and a cowboy through and through. Needing a birthday gift for his sister, he stops by the Rose Garden Gift Shop to browse and he gets the shock of his life when he sees Rose for the first time in years.

Rose and Hud had been sweethearts for a year in junior high before Rose's family moved back to their commune. Neither Rose or Hud ever forgot the other, as they were so well matched, but them being in the same location again was not likely. Now that they have reconnected, will the chemistry still be there now that they are adults? And will Rose decide to reenlist or stay where her heart is starting to take root?

Rose's Aunt Luna was one of the best things about this book. She was the perfect side character to bring some comic relief to the story. This was a tale about second chances and finding your own way in your own time and it was a journey I enjoyed.

Another charming delivery by the talented Carolyn Brown. Witty and winsome, this sweet cowboy romance meanders through small-town life with cheeky bonus characters, humourous situations, lots of sizzle, and great heroic elements. Cowboy Courage provides an easy-to-read everyday escape with likable characters you can't help cheering for!

Sweet and charming, Cowboy Courage is definitely an enjoyable, if slightly slow, romance. I always like reading books by this author—she writes likable characters, NICE characters, people you can root for. Although the dialogue felt a little stilted at times, and there wasn’t as much sizzle between Hud and Rose to get me deeply invested, I nonetheless found myself eager to see them through to HEA. Bonus points for the OTT but funny Aunt Luna, and the heroic rescue of a baby and a kitten, because that’s just adorable.

I have to say that this book was ok. I felt like the book kind of dragged a lot more then I expected, However I loved Luna she was a freaking hoot. I felt like between her and Molly they really made the story and made you want to love all the characters and find out what was going to happen next with those two. I liked Rose and Hud but sometimes it just felt very awkward and the relationship almost seemed forced not natural. there is some adult situations and languages but over all the book was a ok read. Luna will defiantly keep you laughing for sure.

Cowboy Courage by Carolyn Brown is from the Longhorn Canyon series although it can be read as a stand-alone book. This story is about second chance meeting after twelve years that turns into a romance. This story takes place in a small town. The author has a strong story with bits of laughable humor thrown in. Hud and Rose are the main characters and they have known each other since grade school. Rose moved away, but now she is back. They both discover that they are still attracted to each other. If you through in other lovable characters like Rose’s Aunt Luna, and a steady flowing story, you get a good quality mix. I loved this story and its author. Great story and highly recommended.

Fun, witty, light romance. I enjoyed this friends-to-lovers'esque, second chance romance from Carolyn Brown, my first story by her. I thought the western, cowboy aspect was fitting to the story she's telling through Rose and Hud and who they are which are really likable characters with many redeeming qualities. Both strong and passionate, compassionate and smart. Briefly sweethearts in high school, separated by circumstances out of their control and then reconnected later only to find the spark still aflame. The chemistry was evident. This was a relationship built on fondness which really worked for these two characters. Through the middle I did feel like it started to drag. I don't know what it is with me with more light-hearted romance that even though there's words on the page the lack of depth in the story starts to wear on me. And some of the outlying events surrounding their new again connection didn't quite work for me. But Brown does a great job of making you fall for her characters, secondary ones included, that you need to see it through. It's love, laughter, and friendship in Cowboy Courage.

I adored this next installment in the Longhorn Canyon series!

I've been looking forward to Hud's story for a long time. When we saw him reunite with Rose at Maverick's wedding, I had a feeling that this was going to be a wild time. This ended up being WAY better than I was even expecting! And that, of course, was a huge positive.

I adored the relationship that Rose had with her Aunt in this novel. It was a beautiful thing to watch a blossom. I also found the fact that she lived within a religious commune, but left very interesting. The struggle to make decisions you see her go through for the period of this novel was great as well. I loved seeing all of that come together.

Seeing Hud grapple with loneliness now that he was going to be spending so much time alone on the ranch was an interesting journey as well. Seeing him revisit how he was feeling about a lot of things in his life really gave the story some depth as well.

All in all, this came together into a lovely story, and I am on board for the next novel as well! Definitely check this one out!

Hud and Rose have known each other since grade school but she moved away. When she comes back to town years later they reconnect and find out they're still attracted to each other. Sweet second chance at love romance.

Enjoyed the book, love the author. Part of a series but definitely can be read as a stand alone. Lot’s of second chance books out there but this is cute and good read.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley and the author for my honest review.
Cactus Rose O’Malley met Hud Baker when they were in middle school. They had their first kiss, then Rose’s parents took her back to their commune in Kentucky. It is fourteen years later and Rose has moved to the small Texas town that Hud has a ranch. Of course, they pick up where they left off (though in a more adult way). Throw in many disasters, a crazy Aunt Luna and you get a PG13 romance. This was an okay book, not great. The book was a bit corny and Aunt Luna was too over the top. Not a horrible book, but not great.

Thank you to the publishers for sending me this book! I really enjoyed it! Surprisingly this is my first book by Carolyn Brown and I’m so happy to have finally read one of her small town romances! Plus she always has the best covers, I mean LOOK at that cowboy! (Still swooning here) However, this is deep into the series so I felt a little lost a few times when they would talk about other characters: but I’m looking forward to going back and reading the earlier books! I thought her writing was really great and easy to fall into. I loved the progress of the relationship and I’m a sucker for second chance romances! Especially ones as sweet as this! Rose and Hudson pulled at my heart! They were both soo strong and so well developed, I was rooting for them to finally get that ending they deserved! I also really liked Aunt Luna! She was so much fun! Overall this was a cute, heart warming read and I’m excited to read more from Carolyn Brown!

This is my first book by this author

I found parts that could’ve been left out, but I truly loved Aunt Luna and her crazy antics. I have not read previous books in the series so I felt lost when they mentioned Hud and Rose running into each other again after several years apart.
Paul and a echo made me mad and I wanted to slap the crap out of Echo and show her that she was truly missing out on precious moments with her only child. Paul got everything he deserves when Luna moves to the compound

Hudson Baker is a rancher and a voluntary fire fighter. At the young age of 14 he met Cactus Rose O'Malley in school. From the moment they met, each felt it down to their souls. Hudson stayed in Texas and Rose moved with her parents to Kentucky. to live on a commune. Rose decided to hit the road. She joined the Army to see the world. Now she is back in Texas to look after Aunt Molly's place while she is traveling. Hud walks into the shop and all those feelings are still there. Also Aunt Luna shows up. You will love her. She had me laughing. Aunt Luna was a carnival person and read Rose's tarot cards. The question is whether Rose will re-enlist or move to another part of Texas to be an interpreter. Mother nature takes control and decision are made. You are just going to love the ending of this book!

This is a lovely addition to the Longhorn Canyon series. A sweet second chance happily ever after perfect for the beach or really anywhere. Hudson (Hud) and Rose met at 14 and knew it was meant to be. They totally crushed on each other. One day she was there and the next she was gone. Rose’s family had packed up and moved away to a commune. Years later they reconnect when while Rose on leave from the military, trying to figure out what is next in her life all while is running her aunt’s B & B. They truly are meant for each other, but just need some time to serif it is real, true and will stick this time. The rest of the cast of characters is a riot! They are interesting, loving, some a little crazy, some more than a little crazy, off beat, kind, nosy in your face but in the most loving way that you tolerate (mostly) the fact that everyone knows everything about EVERYTHING. They band together to help help a baby while her mom is in the hospital. Come on. How amazing is that? Slowly, but surely they move forward with humor, family, friends, good food and a fabulous cat! You can read this as a stand alone, but shouldn’t miss the rest rest of the series.

I liked this story and it held my interest all the way through. Her great aunts were a hoot. The conflict was a little weak. Overall, a good funny story.
