My copy of this book was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. My thanks to the the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review it.

As a huge fan of the Tudor period in English history, I was both thrilled and hesitant to begin this book. I had absolutely hated the HBO show The Tudors, and was afraid this book would be cut from the same cloth. Luckily, the book turned out to be delightful, charming and extremely clever. It was so much fun knowing the story of Henry VIII and then reading how the author was able to put a modern spin on his life and the people in it. But, even if you don’t know anything about Henry and his wives, this is still an enjoyable, light story of a wealthy man and the women in his life. And, best of all, there’s a sequel!

This was a fun read and a clever modern day look at the life and wives of Henry VIII. I especially was amused by the names of the characters (wives) and the part they play in Harry Rose's life. Fortunately, no one was beheaded.

This book was received as an ARC from Berkley Publishing Group in exchange for an honest review. Opinions and thoughts expressed in this review are completely my own.

This book was unbelievably interesting and I wanted to know the fate of not only Harry Rose's corporation but the fate of his life from the six wives he has. This book was a mix of 50 Shades of Grey with Henry VIII but in modern times and instead of a ruler of a kingdom, it's a multi million dollar mogul. This book was very enticing and intriguing and it taught me lessons about the business world and the things these men do when they are super successful. I believe our library community will enjoy this book and it will be a hit with our circulation.

We will consider adding this title to our Adult Fiction collection at the library. That is why we give this book 5 stars.

I found Olivia Hayfield's Wife After Wife fun, but would have a hard time recommending it forward. The format means the narrative has little in the way of genuine suspense and while the story had some fun moments, it made no lasting impression.

A good pick for those with a casual interest in history, but not something I'd feel comfortable passing to anyone with any real interest in the Tudors, even those with a sense of humor. Light, fluffy, and forgettable.

This is a clever idea, replicating the 6 wives of Henry VIII in a modern setting. However, talk about predictable! We all know how these relationships are going to end. It’s a cute, light read but one that I found non-engaging. Perhaps people who aren’t as familiar with the history of HENRY VIII would have found it more interesting.

Thanks Netgalley.

Olivia Hayfield has written an addictive novel, filled with characters who are neither angels nor demons. I have been fascinated by the story of Henry the VIII, his court, his wives, and his political machinations since I was a fairly young girl. So I picked up this novel with a bit of trepidation as I knew nothing about the author. Ms. Hayfield's creation of a modern-day Henry (Harry) and his modern-day wives (complete with a virtual romance with the Anne of Cleves character) is impressive. And although Harry made me want to shake him at times, his was not a despicable character. I appreciated Ms. Hayfield's humor, her nods to the historical Henry and his wives, as well as her creativity in bringing them to life this century. Fans of Showtime's The Tudors will appreciate the book, as will readers who enjoy flawed heroes. I look forward to reading more by this author, who is respectful of her characters, history, and good storytelling.

I would like to thank the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC of this book.

A modern take on the life of Henry VIII as Harry Rose tries to dominate the world through his media company. In a nod to Henry VIII, Harry behaves badly towards women, his multiple lovers and wives and really any woman he meets, and feels it is his right. Those familiar with Henry VIII will recognize the characters as most are representative of the actual historical figures. It was cleverly done and was interesting to see how the characters were placed in the modern world.

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect with this one. I am NOT a historical fiction reader so I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy this modern day tale. Superb writing and excellent characters.

Absolutely loved this story!!! I have not been able to find a good book for a couple months now. I started this book last week and finished it within 7 days. I fell in love with the story and had empathy for the wives. There is an undercurrent in the book about how we grow up mentally and physically. The choices we make, good or bad, and the consequences that come with them. I can not wait to read more from this author, I truly believe we will be reading great things from her. Glad I made the decision to pick this book and read it!
